  • In this video I show you how to paint a landscape featuring evening light and spotlighting effects. This landscape painting started off as a plein air painting and then I added more details to it in the studio.
    Throughout the video I explain how to paint a harmonious landscape. I show you how to mix some of those greens and how we can better understand values in the landscape. This video is packed full of tips that you can apply to your own paintings.

    I think you are the best realistic painter I've seen on u..tube. I would love you to branch out to other subjects. My art is lacking in technical ability but I'm trying and you are a big help.

      @SamuelEarpArtist  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Mary, whilst I am primarily a landscape artist as this is what inspires me most I definitely will be branching out into other subjects. I just want to make sure I produce quality work, videos and teaching instructions so some of these subjects will require a little practice first. Stay tuned though, I will be diversifying 😊

    Love the part (9 min out in the prosess) where you paint the distant grassplane ..... already I get that realistic "feel". You hit the colour and value "bullseye".

    Love this video and yes your patreon site is well worth the few dollars, full of wonderful tutorials. Plus that painting over your right shoulder in this video is stunning. Your autumn scenes really are fantastic, and the autumn colours aren't that easy to paint, so that they look real, not fake. Having a great weekend (Sam posts on CZcams) so I'm happy

      Thanks so much Carroll. You'll like the next Patreon video I am editing at the moment as this is also an autumn themed landscape. I thought I would do one more as it is still autumn in the northern hemisphere. Thanks for your support, it's very much appreciated. Cheers 😊

    Just wondering about a different landscape theme? Maybe something from North America...lots of great mountain and lakes type scenes....Just a thought...TAB

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  Před 3 lety

      Hey Pedro, I'd be keen to paint North American scenes but I live in New Zealand and I don't have any photo reference. However if you have some photos of North American landscapes you would like me to paint, email them to me and I'll take a look. I could make a video on it too maybe. My email address is: art@samuelearp.com

    Hi Sam, nice video as usual. Just wondering - did you move to that stunning area for painting or was that just coincidence that you already lived there?

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Norm. No, it was pure coincidence but the region of Northland where I live is beautiful and very green 😊

    Good one, Sam! How about a sunset scene, or moonlight? Have you ever tried walnut alkyd in place of Liquin?

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  Před 3 lety

      Yes some sunset scenes, great idea. I have not tried walnut alkyd, have you tried it?

    • @tba1879
      @tba1879 Před 3 lety

      @@SamuelEarpArtist Yes, I use it all the time. It's not petroleum based like Liquin (which bothers me), so it's all-natural and flows beautifully! I use M. Graham.

      Good point Akshay. I did contact Rosemary and Co a while ago but it was early on in the year and they were very busy. Perhaps I will try again 😊
