Being an ex-logger I like to say great video. but while adjusting the chain on any chainsaw you should always pick up on the tip of the bar while adjusting chain tension
i saw this video last week and ordered one since l have the battery platfrom started. OMG. what a saw used it all weekend trimming and pruning over grown trees and limbs. biggest l went thru was about 5 inches. right thru like butter. this is an awesome saw. love it
Boss, been wanting one of these for a while and been waiting for a deal on it.. Just ended up picking a brand new one on FB market place for $95. Done deal!
I just bought this model today for a small tree limb haul off job. I needed a chainsaw and I remembered this video. I immediately ordered this and picked it up from Home Depot. $199.00 (Tool Only) 🤜🤛THANK YOU
Was debating between the 10”, 12”, and 14”. This video sold me on the 10”. Other videos show there is a lot of power lost when bumping up to the 12” with the top handle. And the 14” pretty much doubles the tools length by adding the bar length and handle length. Great little truck saw/camping saw.
I’m wanting to get one for the pine trees that I climb and take down. It would be easier when climbing to use than having to start a gas saw over and over
Non related question Mr. Boss. Since you have been doing this for quite awhile now, considering what is going on all over the world now do you think second quarter promos will be better than usual? To me ,since many are tightening there belts on buying now I would think the tool companies would offer the best promos ever in the months to come , what is your opinion?
Hey Boss. Dolmar has been making Makita chainsaws for a long time. They make excellent pro grade saws, that compare with Stihl and Husqvarna. Might have to do some research cause I believe what used to be Sachs Dolmar is now Dolmar Makita. A lot of rental places even Depot use the Dolmar brand. If I was ever gonna get a battery powered saw I would definitely go Makita✌
Great review Boss. I wish Makita had put that "normal" chain tensioning setup on the x2 saws rather than the toolless setup. I love my 14" x2 but the chain tensioning sucks and I expect it will break sooner rather than later.
Hey Boss, any thoughts about the XGT 40V? Makita said that they will run it along the XPT 18V, but I'm seeing a lot speculation about slowly phasing out the 18V. I haven't seen compatibility's between the two like DeWalt's 20/60v flexvolt.
i worked with a guy who sold oak firewood . his son did all the work.he told me he was cuttin up a big red oak with a stihl and hit a knot .the saw flew back cut him right above the knee .cut into him like over inch and a half deep and cauterized the gash. .his son called 911. dont fool with those knots .there tougher than a ufc champion
I use the Stihl bar oil in everything. It's low viscosity lessens the "oil leaking" issue. I've also been emptying when I'm finished into a coffee filter to clean and put into a spare bottle. This works great. They even sell collapsible funnels made of silicone to put in the kit. Big fan of small chainsaws....
Boss I've got this saw and love it. I need to sharpen the chain and I'm not sure if the manual is saying I need a 3/16 file or a file for a 3/16" chain. Can u help me?
I watched one review the guy kept stalling it on a thick piece that you made 2 cuts in. I just picked a brand new one in the box from a pawnshop for $130
@@toolboss8410 I drove an hour to see if they had any if these saw left. My lucky day, they had one left. Clearanced at $129. Cant wait to test it out tomorrow. Thanks for the great reviews all the time.
The other day I went to go look for my chainsaw found one in the garbage brand new and either I Lent it to someone and forgot who or someone took it but being that I'm on Milwaukee platform what do you think about the Milwaukee chainsaw because I had to borrow someone's and I'm tired of dealing with gas and oil
I had the 40v ryobi. Cut ok, but battery life was terrible. Got the Milwaukee while the buy more save more deals going on. WOW! how does 18v make so much power? I don't think I'll ever pick up my gas saw again. Definitely get it! Around $215 with the deal.
@@donniemccrorie19 thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment but the reason why I wanted to purchase the Milwaukee chainsaw because that's the power tool lying I'm on so I have plenty of batteries and charges Savage just have to purchase the Chainsaw by itself so I think I'm going to go to Milwaukee I was using my Milwaukee M18 rip saw and now it's hesitating when are you going to use it so now I got to send it in but I appreciate you taking the time and leaving the comment thank you

Most informative and to the point! Thank you for a great review!
Thanks for the awesome walk-through and demo!
This would be ideal for clearing paths to my deer stand.

Great demo , Makita seems to be really good tools . Great for D I Y jobs around your garden .

I just used mine for the first time today. No issues really. But the battery ran out of juice crazy fast!
Thanks for upload this video. It help me to assemble my new chainsaw. Many thanks.

Yo Boss! Good lookin out! I've been eyeballing this one and now I can go get it. Hope all is well and your staying safe through this craziness!

Amos Cardoza this saw is amazing, it's definitely worth it.
My mother got one of these saws when I left home. I want to thank you because this video taught her everything she needed to know 🙌
Ok, im buying it tomorrow !
this is so bad ass im rewatching it.
Thanks Brother I have Milwaukee OPE but I'm definitely going to get that Makita 18v chainsaw.

You still measure like every man does always rounds up LOL this is a sweet saw brother
I have some smaller amp hr Makita batteries already, do they work on this saw or is there a lockout requiring the 5ah or larger?
I just bought one im gonna try it tomorrow

Yea these are better systems for sure ..they need a spot to keep tool attached to saw 👌
So I put the chain on the bar but the chain wont go far enough to latch to the spinning thing.
Milwaukee needs a top handle like this
dewey decimal14 they have an m12 now, even smaller.
Expect a top handle from Milwaukee soon ... they are perpetually following Manitas design and innovation

Makita will never phase out 18v
The chain is the only item that is made in the USA. Everything else is from China. I have the 14' bigger brother. Great saw.
Is the chain better or is the saw more powerful?
This would be very handy for those shrubs and bushes surrounding valve boxes in flower beds for plumbing
Don't forget the adjustable chain OIL screw adjustment next to the OIL reservoir.
will be scooping one up to add to the arsenal

How long does the battery last
Very nice! How would you compare it to the Milwaukee m18 chainsaw?
2 totally different kind of saws for two totally different applications

It does not come with the oil? I ordered just the saw online.. Now I have to go to the store to buy the oil.
Just use some frying oil from the kitchen.
Hallo Sir, Just wanna ask about the duration of the battery.
Depends on what battery and what ur cutting
Since I've been using biodegradable chain lube, the mice have chewed through the filler cap and it leaks everywhere!
I’ve always used waste oil, I thought that was environmentally friendly lol

Boss how much run time would you guess it guess on the 5ah battery?
Depends on what ur cutting buddy ..if cutting small 3- 4" cuts should get close to 25-30 mins

@@whosnext2005 129 dang thats a deal bro
Is the extra weight of the 36v (2 battery) worth it? I like the idea of a light saw but is the extra battery that noticeable?
if it is still relevant. noticeably heavier and it's more power with two batt. Two different saws. I watched ton of reviews.
What are the metal spikes for?
spike is used to rest the chain saw on wood as you are cutting to prevent kick- back, especially when performing a buck cut.

@@toolboss8410 At first you implied that the Makita probably wouldn't handle cutting thick wood with a short bar, that's all.
@@dalesworld1308 no I implied we will see if a 18v lithium ion chainsaw could cut a piece of wood that was bigger then the bar 👌

I have this saw, and have run a pruning blade on a sawzall. The chainsaw works better, and doesn't shake the crap, out of you, in the process.
