I love how Damian still thinks he is so tough, but the only reason Nightwing is so injured is because he didn't want to hurt him, just tie him up so he can figure out what is going on.

Even if Dick took all those cuts, he still took down Damian WITHOUT hurting him while the kid was savage. That's saying a lot about his skill and its a shame he's always getting his ass handed to him everytime he's forced to team up with or fight against Bruce. I get Batman is supposed to be good but still, I'd like to see Grayson really kick his ass for once and be the real hero of the story.

Dick had the best relationship with Damian pretty much. Damian tried to kill Tim and Jason tried to kill Damian, but the worst thing that happened between Dick and Damian was Deathstroke and Talia al Ghul using Damian's new spine to take full control of his body in an attempt to kill Dick, and he fought that as hard as he could. He even stuck up for Dick when Talia called Dick an unworthy circus freak. I don't know how Dick always manages to formulate special bonds with the Waynes. That's why I find the Damian hate here in general a bit baffling. Damian may have started out as an annoying prick, but he has received so much character development, and, in my opinion, he was the most interesting Robin. In fact, I think the Batman and Robin dynamic between Dick and Damian was the funnest and freshest one we've had since Bruce and Dick. Damian has been surrounded by cold shoulders for all of his life, and now he has to work with the warmest guy in the DCU. And you can see inch by inch how Dick affects Damian and vice versa. They helped each other grow and it was fascinating and beautiful to watch. Instead of attacking Damian for what he once was, I tend to celebrate what he became. -tt-
Migue Figueroa Damian is returning! And he has superpowers now. I would say Bruce, Dick, Damian, and Jason are some of the most dynamic characters in the DCU, although one is purely by accident (Bruce) and the other came at the cost of his brother's (Jason). Bruce is a funny case because DC's continuous efforts to reinvent him have inadvertently led to an oddly linear story. Jason used to be horrendously underdeveloped, but even though New 52 ruined a fair amount of Bat characters (imo), it did him a tremendous compliment. It's as though New 52 writers realized how tragically they'd been writing Jason, looked over at Dick, and thought, "Dick has too many accomplishments. Let's strip some of 'em off him and give 'em to Jason!" And I must admit, they were weaved in pretty well, but it still irks me as a Dick fan haha. And then you look at Tim and the way they went about developing him from the get-go was terrible. They just flooded his life with tragedy and labeled it "character development." It's why even though I like him and he's probably the "best" Robin (fantastic detective with no ambition to step out from the shadow of the Bat), he's also the least interesting one. In my opinion, Dick and Damian (...and Wally West pre-New 52 ) have the most focused and organic character development. I'd take it a step further and say it stomps the character development in most shows and movies nowadays. The only places I see that sort of growth is kid shows/movies.
Nicole I I certainly hope the Damian hate here is not for what he became, but as for what he is in this movie. At times Damian is an infuriating dipshit (like in the above scene), but that's how he started, and he did develop into a greater character. We don't see that in this movie, and so we can hate Damian for how he is in this movie, instead of how he will become. It's like with Arrow- people are hating how Green Arrow has been "Batmantized", but he's not even calling himself Green Arrow yet- just The Arrow. The high-spirited Green Arrow we're all familiar with hasn't arrived yet, but he's on his way. Same thing with Damian Wayne- he's not the tempered, developed character we've come to respect, but the character before that on his way to becoming that.
My comment is mostly directed at a particular comment here that has a trillion likes (or w/e they're called here) and replies of affirmations when the comment itself is addressing how awful Damian is in the comics and listing a bunch of events that (at least to my knowledge) never actually occurred. Honestly? I’m a total sucker for Damian and Dick interactions. Don’t know why I adore their big brother/lil brother interaction they eventually reach. It’s just absolutely hilarious and sweet to me. I think this starting point is also a pretty good way to tell their story.
Night wing mentioned that Damian said "says he's you're son" how else would that have happened? I can imagine Nightwing giving a major handicap to Damian just because he's a kid and intentionally took the cuts and while Damian is mouthing off, and he let's him get a shot on his face while he ties him up. I love Nightwing but they could of at least added a fight scene showing the conversation they had and Nightwing obviously going easy on Damian while they scuffle. Honestly all he did was tie him up head to toe and stuffed a rag in his mouth which who wouldn't blame him lol but Nightwing went way to easy on him. I think that shows a lot more self control on his part.
Damian can't be death stroke "so easily" a few reasons why they fucked up this movie. They nerfed death stroke really fucking bad. Its a cool movie but definitely not for accuracy.
Cemtexify To be honest deathstroke was nerfed in this movie and they wanted to highlight damian. In reality deathsroke took down batman and I think the justice league as well. Dick is the overall best robin. Jason was a bit stronger and physical and tim was the detective. Damian I think is the most skilled but I am pretty sure he (spoilers) dies at 1 point. Idk thats what wiki told me.

These amount of cuts combined with blood lose would have been fatal no doubt if Alferd didnt stitch with up eventually. If major errors such as these combined with numerous others that make this a terrible movie overall, possibly the only batman movie Id call legitimately bad.
I feel it's more like a 5 year old vs a prime 20 something with years of fighting experience. You know Batman wouldn't get torn up and Nightwing isn't so far behind him in skill. That's why I think it's silly. A few marks sure, but that was overkill.
that's the one thing I could never stand about Damian when it came to him vs Dick even though Damian IS Bruce's son biologically, I always felt that Dick was more his son than any other in the batfamily I remember in the comics that Damian tried killing Dick almost every issue that the two were together, and Dick NEVER said a word about it to Bruce, him being cool and thinking the little twerp would grow out of it eventually and when Bane ONCE AGAIN broke Bruce's back and Bruce was going to give the cowl to Dick, Damian threw a shiz fit and tried to kill Dick RIGHT IN FRONT OF BRUCE because he wanted to take the Batman mantle for himself because he was Bruce's "real" son Dick won, obviously, and took Bruce's cape, looked at his mentor and said something along the lines of "if I ever find out you did this on purpose I'll finish the job Bane started and kill you" and there are continuities in which Damian actually KILLS Dick, leaving the mantle of Batman in the hands of an angry little boy with life issues (I'd say "Daddy issues" but Bruce didn't know for YEARS because of Talia, and I'd say "Mommy issues" but its not completely her fault that she's nucking futs when her dad is Ra's Al Gul [spelling, I know]) There are times when Damian can be one of my favorite Robins, when he's figured out how to grow the heck up and he doesn't hate any of the Batfamily anymore and realizes his mom's crazy but then there's times like this, when he flaunts his blood relations to Bruce and thinks that everyone will bow down to him because of it hey, Damian, your mom drugged daddy and used you as a bargaining chip so that he wouldn't put her in jail and daddy only took you under his cape so that you wouldn't end up a little psycho like mommy and granddad, up yours, you little dork

Tim and Dick have their parts in cartoons like Young Justice(unfortunately Jason appeared there only as dead person). And they also have their own comics lines. A lot of them. But Red Hood has only 2 and 1 isn't finished. And Damian has only 2 but with Nightwing and Batman. So evrth is alright.

Anyone else get annoyed that Damian is referred to as "The Son of Batman". Biologically, yes he is is son, but Bruce has had Dick, Jason, and Tim way before Damian was even born. They were raised by him, fought beside him, and learned plenty from him. To me it always feels like that when they call Damian Batman's "true son" or "only son", they seriously diminish the importance of Bruce's relationships with the other robins and adopted families as a whole. Almost as if blood relations are the only one's that matter. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but it has seriously bothered me for a long time. Damian is "A son of Batman", not "THE son".

Dick had the best relationship with Damian pretty much. Damian tried to kill Tim and Jason tried to kill Damian, but the worst thing that happened between Dick and Damian was Deathstroke and Talia al Ghul using Damian's new spine to take full control of his body in an attempt to kill Dick, and he fought that as hard as he could. He even stuck up for Dick when Talia called Dick an unworthy circus freak. I don't know how Dick always manages to formulate special bonds with the Waynes.
That's why I find the Damian hate here in general a bit baffling. Damian may have started out as an annoying prick, but he has received so much character development, and, in my opinion, he was the most interesting Robin. In fact, I think the Batman and Robin dynamic between Dick and Damian was the funnest and freshest one we've had since Bruce and Dick. Damian has been surrounded by cold shoulders for all of his life, and now he has to work with the warmest guy in the DCU. And you can see inch by inch how Dick affects Damian and vice versa. They helped each other grow and it was fascinating and beautiful to watch. Instead of attacking Damian for what he once was, I tend to celebrate what he became.

I would say Bruce, Dick, Damian, and Jason are some of the most dynamic characters in the DCU, although one is purely by accident (Bruce) and the other came at the cost of his brother's (Jason). Bruce is a funny case because DC's continuous efforts to reinvent him have inadvertently led to an oddly linear story. Jason used to be horrendously underdeveloped, but even though New 52 ruined a fair amount of Bat characters (imo), it did him a tremendous compliment. It's as though New 52 writers realized how tragically they'd been writing Jason, looked over at Dick, and thought, "Dick has too many accomplishments. Let's strip some of 'em off him and give 'em to Jason!" And I must admit, they were weaved in pretty well, but it still irks me as a Dick fan haha.
And then you look at Tim and the way they went about developing him from the get-go was terrible. They just flooded his life with tragedy and labeled it "character development." It's why even though I like him and he's probably the "best" Robin (fantastic detective with no ambition to step out from the shadow of the Bat), he's also the least interesting one.
In my opinion, Dick and Damian (...and Wally West pre-New 52 ) have the most focused and organic character development. I'd take it a step further and say it stomps the character development in most shows and movies nowadays. The only places I see that sort of growth is kid shows/movies.
Nicole I I certainly hope the Damian hate here is not for what he became, but as for what he is in this movie. At times Damian is an infuriating dipshit (like in the above scene), but that's how he started, and he did develop into a greater character. We don't see that in this movie, and so we can hate Damian for how he is in this movie, instead of how he will become. It's like with Arrow- people are hating how Green Arrow has been "Batmantized", but he's not even calling himself Green Arrow yet- just The Arrow. The high-spirited Green Arrow we're all familiar with hasn't arrived yet, but he's on his way. Same thing with Damian Wayne- he's not the tempered, developed character we've come to respect, but the character before that on his way to becoming that.
My comment is mostly directed at a particular comment here that has a trillion likes (or w/e they're called here) and replies of affirmations when the comment itself is addressing how awful Damian is in the comics and listing a bunch of events that (at least to my knowledge) never actually occurred. I just didn't want my response buried so I posted it as a separate comment.

Honestly? I’m a total sucker for Damian and Dick interactions. Don’t know why I adore their big brother/lil brother interaction they eventually reach. It’s just absolutely hilarious and sweet to me. I think this starting point is also a pretty good way to tell their story.
Night wing mentioned that Damian said "says he's you're son" how else would that have happened? I can imagine Nightwing giving a major handicap to Damian just because he's a kid and intentionally took the cuts and while Damian is mouthing off, and he let's him get a shot on his face while he ties him up.
I love Nightwing but they could of at least added a fight scene showing the conversation they had and Nightwing obviously going easy on Damian while they scuffle. Honestly all he did was tie him up head to toe and stuffed a rag in his mouth which who wouldn't blame him lol but Nightwing went way to easy on him. I think that shows a lot more self control on his part.

Dick is the overall best robin. Jason was a bit stronger and physical and tim was the detective. Damian I think is the most skilled but I am pretty sure he (spoilers) dies at 1 point. Idk thats what wiki told me.

Dick won, obviously, and took Bruce's cape, looked at his mentor and said something along the lines of "if I ever find out you did this on purpose I'll finish the job Bane started and kill you"

Tim and Dick have their parts in cartoons like Young Justice(unfortunately Jason appeared there only as dead person). And they also have their own comics lines. A lot of them. But Red Hood has only 2 and 1 isn't finished. And Damian has only 2 but with Nightwing and Batman. So evrth is alright.

Anyone else get annoyed that Damian is referred to as "The Son of Batman". Biologically, yes he is is son, but Bruce has had Dick, Jason, and Tim way before Damian was even born. They were raised by him, fought beside him, and learned plenty from him. To me it always feels like that when they call Damian Batman's "true son" or "only son", they seriously diminish the importance of Bruce's relationships with the other robins and adopted families as a whole. Almost as if blood relations are the only one's that matter. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but it has seriously bothered me for a long time. Damian is "A son of Batman", not "THE son".

I FUCKING HATE DAMIAN Wayne. And I hate the fact that he's the new robin. Always thinking of himself as the superior, always talking about being the true blood son of batman and shit, but at the same time, rebeling and disobeying his every command, and the worst part is, Bruce actually feels more compassion and love towards him, more than Dick or Jason or Tim, the boys that he ACTUALLY raised and taut how to fight. When it comes to character than maybe damian won't be as good as dick but if we're talking about skills then damian is way beyond dick's level

Well, in the DCU, blood is "the answer for everything". For me, that's a bullshit of a logic, but for DC, that's the most powerful rule. Andy Pitt Nightwing is pretty much the same has Batman. Plain retardation to even think Dick could lose to Damian. The main problem is that Dick was trying to not kill Damian, which is a problem in itself.

well i'd like to think that damien may have had intent to kill while nightwing was just trying to apprehend a kid (and no just any kid, but a kid who has been trained to kill and seems to know nothing about mercy) and at the end of it all nightwing just got some cuts here and there while damien does get apprehended.

I'd love to see the DC Animated staff work on a Batman RIP storyline canvassing some of that time: Tim becoming Red Robin, Dick Grayson becoming the new Batman, and Damian becoming less of an a-hole after spending time as Robin.
In retrospect, it seems that the sequel movies did TWO of those things.
