Played this a ton yesterday, so sweet that the 11 thoughtseizes make it so your paradox-aetherflux life gain loop never bricks
I feel like I'd want a 1-of sweeper to fetch with D-Tutor over one of the Sphere/Star effects

Mono red is actually pretty nasty in this format as well with 4 of Ragavan, Lightning Bolt, and Eidolon of the Great Revel. I even run Curse of Shaken Faith to punish storm type decks too (it also dumps on Channel for obvious reasons)
The 8-Blast list SaffronOlive tried recently works wonders with some Ragavans. It can even with through Ulamogs because the Channel player kindly dropped their life by 10 for you :)
@@the_r4ts I've killed channel players after they cast Ulamog about 4 times in a row. They can't even attack with it because the are dead on board, and if they go after the creatures I can lightning bolt or cast one of the haste creature off the top. Eidolon has also won me so many games because everyone is playing cheap spells
It's funny how the meta changed since this video -- or at least what I experienced. I faced a lot more aggro decks. Makes sense -- Channel isn't so good if your life total is low, and this deck, with it's damaging discard spells, does half the work of an aggro deck for it. So I changed it. Cut all the Mind Spikes, increased Inquisition to 4, added 3 Duress, cut 2 Thoughtseize, added 2 Collective Brutality. And I also found myself losing when I was able to get Paradox Engine on the field but had nothing to cast, so I added 4 Mishra's Bauble and cut the Chromatics down to 1 each. I also added Tormod's Crypt to the Sideboard, mostly to have another 0 cc artifact, but it also hit the aggro decks that use Dragon's Rage Channeler (is that the right name?), I cut Leveler and Bolas' Citadel, and added Staff of Domination (which I never used). And I cut two Buried Ruins, added one Inventor's Fair, and was down one land by accident, but I never noticed it. I still don't know what to do in the mirror -- whoever gets Karn out first wins.

I have multiple times been turn 0d Leyline of Santitied into turn 1 thoughtseize into turn 2 channel Eldrazi. Its a perfect hand, and somehow they have it often.
I played the same list as the last opponent, what you can pithing needle is oko for that deck

You can pithing needle a channel ability, as Pithing Needle isn't exclusive to cards on the battlefield. Naming Boseiju would work as intended. They can't even use the Boseiju on the Needle.
I wouldn't think so. [[Pithing Needle]] affects activated abilities, where activated abilities are always written "[Cost]: [Effect.]" with a colon (602.1), and therefore [[Channel]] doesn't create an activated ability. Rather, it allows a Special Action (116.2c).

Notice how there is a cost of 1G and discarding Boseiju, a COLON, and the ACTIVATED ABILITY of destroying an opponent's artifact, enchantment, or nonbasic land. Cycling and Channel abilities are activated abilities BECAUSE they have a cost to pay and a colon to separate the cost and the effect.

Edit: Completely disregard my comment. I misread "Channel" as the card, not the ability on Boseiju. Sorry about that. Yes, you can name Boseiju to stop a person from channeling it.
Pithing Needle doesn't stop mana abilities, and I don't think Channel provides an activated ability either (and therefore wouldn't be a mana ability). Channel simply says you can pay 1 life at any time to add C to your mana pool, but it isn't formatted like an activated ability ("{cost}: {effect}") and doesn't seem to be granting an ability to anything.
To be honest, I'm not sure what kind of effect it is. It doesn't seem to be formatted like an activated ability, triggered ability, or replacement effect. Regardless, if it *is* an activated ability, it's a mana ability and therefore can't be stopped with Pithing Needle, assuming you can actually name the object that has the ability.

I run darksteel citadel in my sideboard with Karn because you never know when you are going to need to grab a land. You can put colored artifact lands in your side board but darksteel citadel enters untapped
Honest question here. You made a comment about why haven't they nerfed going first, and that made me wonder could they? What if people who went first could not play a spell on turn one but give them the ability to draw a card. I feel like it's the going first and playing a mana dork, or playing a hand-hate spell on turn one it really accentuates the advantage of going first. Perhaps if it was just the mana advantage gained by going first it would be a little more balanced?

Been playing a similar Azorious deck with karn getting out a gilded lotus then paradox engine / ominous traveler. I only have 3 copies of the one ring tho, and I'm running low on cards I can craft, think I should make a 4th one because it really feels like the one ring will and up on the ban list soon.

Tbh they should take guidance from Hearthstone and just give the player on the draw a treasure token already. It just works.
Having to make an entire deck to make sure a single card doesn’t get played is a good reason to not play that format

Am I wrong that going first used to be nerfed? That if you went first you didn't get your draw step? Not in arena, but in paper magic decades ago. If not then I am a terrible father and have taught my children incorrectly...
This is still how it works, but it's not enough a nerf since the first player still has a statistical advantage in Magic.
CGB made all these channel hate decks… Now they are running Leyline of Sancity… I would love to see how you are going to get around that one…
By countering the Channel, lol. The Channel decks can only add so many anti-anti meta cards before they dilute their list to the point of losing too much consistency, where other archetypes can afford to dilute their decks more than Channel can. And the other decks can keep up the arms race just as much as the Channel decks.

Ultimately it’s a free event with anything goes. If it became an actual event then of course bands would be needed.

WotC never banned Paradox Engine in any format they control the banlist. But some people who control the banlist of Commander think they know better than the game designers who created the game...
