  • Celebrating VICTORY DAY in Yerevan Armenia 🇦🇲
Join me as we join the locals celebrating victory day in Yerevan Armenia.
We make our way to the famous Victory Park in Yerevan and join the many locals that have to pay their respects for their fallen loved ones and national heroes.
After 78 years since the victory of the Second World War, it was sad to see that only a handful of veterans remain, but the victory vibe is very much still alive.
We watch some amazing performances, visit the park and join in the festivities.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Central & Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakuski and join me as we celebrate Victory Day in Yerevan Armenia.

600.000 armenians were participated in WWII from USSR. 4 marshals and 1 admiral from Karabakh were among armenian heroes of war. Now days azeri ruined anything remains or remember about armenians, included churches and memorials.

Great video. Since the winners celebrate on May 9th, do the losers commemorate their losses on the same day? I wonder what the Axis power countries do. That breakfast looked epic. I love the Armenian people and their culture.

There are many martial arts schools in Armenia. I attended a few of them as I kid when I lived in Armenia. They also have professional martial arts associations, such as Karate Shotakan Federation, WuShu Federation, and bunch of others. Boxing and Judo were the most popular in Armenia during Soviet Union era. After the independence, Karate, WuShu, Kung Fu and Taekwondo became very popular. The more resent martial arts schools in Armenia also teach Aikido and Krav Magav. Many instructors of Aikido and Krav Magav do not have dojos, so they teach in private. The special forces units of Armenian military study Krav Magav and Karate often, in addition to Boxing, Sambo and Judo. There is also traditional Armenian martial art called Koxh, which resembles Greco-Roman wrestling.

You gotta be careful Justin about using the word "freedom". Millions of soviets fought against Nazism. But doesn't necessarily mean they fought for "freedom" as ppl east of Berlin ended up living in well, not so so free societies for decades (1989) & many still don't live in societies with free speech etc.
Do we in the West overlook the sacrifice of 27million soviets who were killed? Definitely. But don't conflate that with freedom. Or perhaps freedom means different things in Putin's Russia or Armenia than say rest of the Western society where u don't go to jail criticising the government
Moral of the story & the meaning of this long comment? History is complicated

    • @J.E.E
      @J.E.E  Před rokem +2

      Hello mate,
What a great thought provoking comment.
Obviously but perhaps selfishly, I was referring to the outcome of the west when referring to freedom. Thank you for your input on that one.
As for history, you are right it is very complicated!!!
As for the 27 million, that perished for our freedoms, it was also freedom from the Nazis. Looking at it from that context, then perhaps it was freedom for many in the east as well.
This would make for a great chat over a beer or two.

Human rights in Armenia are better than most Soviet Republics, and in terms of freedom of speech, it's the freeest country I've seen (including the US).
Many got stuck under Soviet rule while it lasted, but as opposed to the alternarive of Nazism (which you suggest), I'd say it was a better bet.

@@J.E.Ereedom from nazis? Before WWII the Jewish bolsheviks killed tens of millions of people in the territories under their control - including 1.5 million Prussian Germans. They destroyed nation states and threatened to export bolshevik revolution.
In Armenia over 2000 participants of Sardarapat battle were improvised and killed under the charges of being nationalists. Their crime was to stand up against advancing turkish army which already massacred over a million Armenians. The Armenians, including the people if other nationalities were forced by the bolsheviks to denounce their national identity.
Call it anything you want, but the nationalist movement before WWII was to preserve the national identity
