The Heraion of Perachora is an archaeological site in Greece dedicated to the goddess Hera. It includes a sanctuary and a temple dating back to the 6th century BCE.
Is situated on the Perachora Peninsula, overlooking the Gulf of Corinth. Apart from its historical significance, the site offers a unique experience - visitors have the opportunity to swim in the clear waters surrounding the archaeological remains. This combination of ancient ruins and a picturesque coastal setting adds to the allure of the Heraion of Perachora, creating a memorable visit for those interested in both history and natural beauty.
Near the sanctuary, there is an ancient water tank known as the "Corbelled Building." This structure served as a reservoir to collect and store water for the sanctuary. The presence of such water management systems highlights the practical considerations in the design and planning of ancient religious sites.
