    My wife and I visited Costa Rica back in 2014 for the first time. We instantly realized that this was where we wanted to spend the rest of our lives. I have exactly 1 year left at my job and then the wife and I will be there...permanently. We're done with the US. Like you said and like I've told people: "There's something about Costa Rica."

      Costa Rica is emerging as the new Tulum. I firmly believe that when visiting another country, it's important to respect local customs and recognize that our ways are not necessarily better-after all, if they were, why leave home? These communities have thrived on their own terms, without seeking outside opinions. Lately, I've observed that locals around the world are beginning to protest and resist as the influx of foreigners drives up the cost of living and prices. It’s crucial to be mindful of our impact as visitors.

      I prefer Costa Rica. Panama is a beautiful country but I couldn’t take the garbage and they don’t recycle. You’d walk to a restaurant and there’s garbage outside. But the outskirts outside the city are beautiful ….so based on that imma roll with Costa Rica. CR has different climates we were deep in nature and it was the rainy season but it would rain in the morning then dry in the afternoon. We did not stay in San Jose only to get our taxi. We were about 2 hours from San Jose. We stopped at the Supermarket in one of the smaller towns on the way. Food is def high but fruits and vegetables from the markets on the streets are cheaper. It’s worth the visit - you’ll find your way. Hope this helps 🙏🏿

      @@createwithease Wow, that's a great description. So basically you did some easy shopping in your way to the Airbnb. Is it possible to hire someone to do that for you in advance through the Host? I've been looking into neighborhoods called Escazú and Rohrmoser. @@dovygoodguy1296 Yes we always shop before getting to the Airbnb. If you hire a private driver ask them to stop or you can ask your Airbnb host they will have a list of people to help. Be aware of gringo pricing - always negotiate. Most people book their transportation before getting to CR if you do this know you will pay gringo prices. There are plenty of drivers right outside the airport. Always negotiate.. I’d recommend learning some basic Spanish because if you’re not in a tourist area some don’t speak English. You can pay in US dollars but I prefer using the local currency - somehow your money seems to go further this way.

I’m a Army veteran, and I’m looking for peace, slowness, great education, better food for better health, better treatment as a black woman, and loads of opportunity for my son.
    How do I look for property. How do I start renting. It seems difficult and I’m nervous. Seems like I have to get a driver. Lawyer. Realtor. Police officer. Judge. A new car. A new house. Buy land 😂 LEGIT start from scratch to get on my feet out there. I feel like it’s so extremely difficult to book a flight and go. You must have to book soooooooo many things 😭 I’m excited. My recommendations is if you have not visited, go and spend some time there. It’s a beautiful country and our lives were changed being there. You’ll find peace, slowness, the fruit is incredible. There are also Facebook groups like black expats of Costa Rica, exodus summit that will bring you into community with others on your journey. As far a rental property, there is a telegram chat that posts rentals called PV housing and rentals. I’d recommend learning Spanish, I’m taking lessons with a group of Americans that live in Costa Rica. Remember that ALL things are possible. Praying for clarity and everything that you require and more will be provided for, for you and you son. Be blessed.

      @createwithease  Před 2 měsíci +1

      We prefer Costa Rica compared to some of the other Central American and the Caribbean. We have travel vlogs on Colombia, Panama, Bahamas, Jamaica. Colombia is a beautiful country and cost of living is lower - it just wasn’t our vibe. It seems like they have a lot going on at the current moment. We both had transformation’s being in CR and I’ve heard others experience the same. There is just something different about the land - Ticos especially when don’t stay in the tourist areas. We connected with Costa Rica in a deep way and left as different people. That never happened in the other Central America countries and this was our indicator. We’ve moved before and usually when a transformation or deep connection takes place - we honor that and listen. We plan on living outside the U.S. either part time 3 -6 months and Costa Rica is top on our list. But there are other places we’d like to explore as well. Countries also change, Colombia was top on our list but there’s been a lot of change and haven’t desired to be there.
