Amy Porter, flutist, performs Fantaisie by Georges Hue with pianist Christopher Harding. Live from the National Theater Concert Hall, Taipei, Taiwan, May 16, 2007.
The best redention of this beautiful piece I have ever heard, colours, flexibility, elegance, style everything is to the point - exciting, adventurous and in the most positive way breathtaking while being well-balanced -SUPERB!! BRAVO!! AMY!!
Absolutely BRILLIANT. I remember seeing her back in the 80's at a National flute Convention. She was really starting to get recognition as an amazing flutist of her generation.
I played this for my Associate of Music Australia examination many years ago. It was not in the repertoire for the exam, but I loved it so much that I applied specially, asking if I could play it. They said yes. I absolutely loved your performance. STUNNING!
oh my god wow I couldn't stop saying wow for like straight 5 minutes. I'm working on this piece for a band audition in high school. wish it turns out well......wish me luck.....!
I had the pleasure to watch her live performance here in Brazil, she is an amazing flutist ! I loved her energy, tone quality and elegance on playing ! This piece is amazing !
Beautiful and sensitive, and thank you for having your own style. She is one of the remarkable flutists of our time, daring, strong . . . and wow, listen to that tone. I wonder if she ever met the great Marcel Moyse.
it doesn't matter what she plays on. she could be playing a student model buffet and still sound amazing. the flute doesn't make a great flutist, it only amplifies the talent that already exists.
@MrGipeto66 Maybe the piece isn't, but I think it's the performer's job to make the piece inspirational. I am learning how to play this piece, and it is very expressive.
Does anyone know how I would find the background information on this piece? Like when it was composed, Hue's inspiration, etc. It would be a great help.
Definitely agree on Powell vs. Muramatsu (haha, please ignore my username for the time being :-P). I like Powell, but I consistently find that I have more control over the sound on Muramatsu.
I usually don't like American flautists, but she is one of the exceptions. Not only technically but musically matured. Wonderful musician and pedagogue.
This is what I watch when I don't feel like practicing 😀
i guess Im kind of randomly asking but does anybody know a good place to watch newly released series online?
@Cayson Fletcher i use flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Jeffery Anakin Definitely, have been using Flixzone for months myself :D
@Jeffery Anakin thanks, signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it !
@Cayson Fletcher glad I could help =)
Her dress is so gorgeous! :) I love this piece and this is my favorite interpretation. She has amazing tone.

Fantastic! Do I trash my flute now or later?
Never! Keep practicing!
Great tone colours! And I love the acoustics in this hall!
I can't even fathom what she did to this piece...you make my heart melt. :-) much love and admiration Professor Porter!
it doesn't matter what she plays on. she could be playing a student model buffet and still sound amazing. the flute doesn't make a great flutist, it only amplifies the talent that already exists.
It’s a white gold flute. I didn’t even know flutes could be made in white gold.
Wonderful! I love it!
just beautiful- an inspiration to my flute students.
I'm currently working on this piece! It is so elegant and I love all of thte grace notes and double tounging!

Amazing!
There's a lot of "life" in this performance...brilliant!
phenomenal. really, really impressive.
Good point there! :D Indeed the flute MAY help, but 99% depends upon the flutist, and long tones ALWAYS help! :D

truly amazing!! Its like her fingers don't even exist! =D
Remarkable. Wow b
i love his double tonguin^^!!!
The did not clap long enough for her
Wow, she did it under 7 minutes 45 seconds, as the piece itself points out it should be. She really makes that piece shine.
Hi, this is Dominique. I posted a video reply (my performance of this piece with San Diego CYO) Thank you for your lessons! They were really helpful.
but i love this song, i play clarinet but enjoy the beginning of this especially
Bravissima!!!
5:21 is my favourite part
I met her! She's good.
How does she project so well from under that dress?
@dasteufelhund Well said ...a little bt of ''wildness'' and she's there , or near!
Great intonation and shape in the music.
@MrGipeto66 Maybe the piece isn't, but I think it's the performer's job to make the piece inspirational. I am learning how to play this piece, and it is very expressive.
not even using her music this is a fantastic performance
Wow! Her tone and intonation is just gorgeous! This is a job well done. I wonder what kind of flute does she play?
Marvin Johnson Yamaha
I heard she actually plays on a Haynes.
@@CY-vd4sh she is most likely playing on a Muramatsu in this video! She didn't become a Haynes Artist until 2013 :)
she looks like Bell from Beauty and the Beast, where did she get her dress from??
@tapqween92 She is amazing indeed ...listen to Moyse playing this piece also.
Does anyone know how I would find the background information on this piece? Like when it was composed, Hue's inspiration, etc. It would be a great help.
Can someone please send me a link for the sheet music? I can't find this piece..
Lotus Pod _ go onto imslp and search the Fantaisie Hue flute and it should come up :)
Definitely agree on Powell vs. Muramatsu (haha, please ignore my username for the time being :-P). I like Powell, but I consistently find that I have more control over the sound on Muramatsu.
She is soooo buff!
mine's solid silver as well. And not quite worth a house =p
but you just gotta love the control they give you over your sound
@matsushimann why not?
Wow you sure do play a lot of the pieces I play!
Obviously to a better standard though! 😝
william vasudevan I try to! 👍 love to set an example.

her ?
@marvinflute9 Muramatsu
@mollyphloot07 ahm hahahaha sorry my english not its so good XDDDD
I usually don't like American flautists, but she is one of the exceptions. Not only technically but musically matured. Wonderful musician and pedagogue.
I understand it's the technique she used. But you said "his," when clearly it is a her.
Back then in 2009, perhaps. But today you could be in trouble for assuming that.
Better, accurate: Hüe.
She plays on a murumatsu
its a technike to play the flue that she did
