We are on a fixed income both retired, our food shopping has a lot to do with what's on sale that week or month, inflation on food is still rising, we do grow some of our food it helps a lot we cook and eat at home we eat out once a month too expensive to eat out, we strictly brew our own coffee too expensive to buy ready made I can brew a 12 ounce cup of coffee for 20 cents verses $5 to $7 per cup of ready brewed coffee

Consumers are running up debt too. More delinquencies on credit cards, which are being used to pay for necessities like groceries. Car repossessions and insurance is outrages.

@@Ricbender I totally agree. I know that other countries are feeling the same. I believe that Japan and Germany are in or about to be in a recession. The global stability both financially and with war raging countries cutting off trade routes have a huge impact. I don’t see how things can get better anytime soon and I honestly feel that the worse is yet to come.

My county just raised the assessed value of my home 100K in one year! Can't wait to see what my new mortgage payment will be. 😡

Another thing that bares consideration is the purported, government supplied inflation rates are bogus point being Real Income is even less, significantly less, assuming my proposition of understating inflation is correct (it is)!

When a person gets a raise, that contributes to inflation to some degree. I'm surprised that lots of people are still going to pricey restaurants. 😕

We are finding out how much “free stuff” costs. More Money Today, in the words of J. Rogers, will be the end of US.

Retired and we are in a better financial place than we've ever been. Debt free and accumulating and stacking PM's is a fun hobby for me though not a necessity, despite what the doom and gloomers expound year after year, after year.

Welcome to the Neoliberal Dystopia. This is the America we've all been voting for, for decades. Enjoy the outcome. Today they might be a minority, but In 10 years, the most common housing arrangement for Americans will be the tent. Neoliberalism is an evil ideology that has destroyed the country. In 1980 before Reaganomics, US Infrastructure was #1 in the world. Today sits at #35. A man could rise a family with 2 children with just 1 salary. Today, both parents have to work with 2 jobs each to be able to pay the rent, let alone having children. The list goes on, and on, and the only culprit is allowing the free market to run the economy instead of the government, like we used to do. America is already finished. It's just a rabid dog only interested in empire building for our corporate overlords, and war, and someone is gonna have to put it to sleep. A good way of doing it would be to outlaw lobbying and donations, and call it by its name: corruption, as they do in Europe. Then government will start working for people's and country's interests, as it was intended by the constitution.

Government has never been a bigger proportion of the economy. Your canard is full of holes.
