  • Hey guys, it's Mubeen here and welcome back to a new video! Today we are taking a look at a speaker I bought from Poundland for £10, the Vido Speaker, with a retro twist to it!
    I unbox the speaker and test it out, and it has these functions:
    SD Card support to load music directly
    USB support to also load music from a flash drive
    AUX port to directly connect a media source which you could use it as a speaker for a phone/computer/whatever
    AM/FM Radio support (with a dedicated control knob)
    Bright flashlight with a switch
    Mono speaker
    Radio extendable antenna
    Micro USB port to charge rechargeable battery
    Music used in the video:
    Jeremy Blake - Sirius Jazz
    Otis McDonald - EDM Detection Mode
    Music played on speaker:
    Joseph Jacobs - Chilled Breeze
    2Pac - Letter 2 My Unborn

    There is a bluetooth. Just put the slider to mp3 then search for the connection on your phone. You can switch between the USB and bluetooth by pressing the Mode button.

    I got one of these as a Christmas present this year. It is a good little radio indeed. I am blind so I cannot really use the timer or Clock functions but it certainly works for me when using Bluetooth as I have my phone connected to it the other day.
    I also transferred some songs onto a USB stick and it plays them pretty well too. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a headphone socket which is a slight drawback but nevertheless it is good for what it is.
    Thank you for taking the time to do a review on this product as I was interested in finding out what other people thought of this item. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you sir.
    From Gareth and Belfast Northern Ireland.

      No worries, I couldn't find anyone else who made a video for this product and it was really interesting! Glad you found the video useful, and keep the tunes playing on your new speaker!

      Hi Gareth
      Hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions of how to use this radio 🙂
      When do you have to charge that battery? And is it with the USB connector ? As I'm not technical and would like to know some more info on this radio of how to use it and what is all the uses on here .
      Would appreciate if you could help me . 🙂

    They cost £12 now (July 2022) but are still good value. The battery inside is an 18650 lithium cell - I estimate about 700 - 800mA/h - that you can replace with a bigger capacity if you like. Very sensitive on MW, not bad on SW (you can tune in foreign stations like China Radio International etc) but tuning is a bit fiddly (a small knob and no slow-motion drive). Bluetooth works well. For what you pay, a nice set. ♥

  • @KeithRodway
    @KeithRodway Před 2 lety +4

    SW stands for Short Wave - before there was AM (amplitude modulation) and FM ( frequency modulation), there was Short Wave, Medium Wave and Long Wave. The short wave function on the Vido isn't that good - you can't really tune to any station. If you're into audio though, a good short wave radio is a very cool thing! Amazon sell an entry-level model for around £15. Happy New Year!

      Hiya, what is the £15 model on Amazon you mentioned ?? I’m looking to get into shortwave listening and have been looking for a lower price model to get me started !!

    • @Bartok_J
      @Bartok_J Před 2 lety

      @@IAmKye I really WOULDN'T recommend it for shortwave listening. The dial is just too small, and the calibration virtually non-existent. Check out some of the SWL groups (e.g. the BDXC) or your local amateur radio club who can give advice on a suitable receiver for a beginner.

    It only has a little 2" speaker in it, but it's easy to have the case apart and connect external speakers to it. I have a pair of studio monitors on mine and it makes a great little system to have in the kitchen. The speakers are the standard 8 Ohms impedance, so I wired them in parallel to make 4 Ohm. It sounds much better than it has any right to LOL.

    Hi there my apologies for only getting back to you. I think it lasts about three or four hours using the MP3 player but with the radio that lasts longer. Can’t remember exactly the hours will need to check up on that again. Yes you charged by a micro USB cable which comes with it.

    SW is shortwave not very useable these days I have a Grundig satellit 3000 from 1978 when I could get 50+ stations, today only 10 if am lucky, on your radio you’ll get noise only on SW , it will do 1.6 MHz to about 16 MHz ,instead of 1.6 to 30 MHz as on my 3000. JH
