Luck on, you need to pass the hearing test, I suggest you be nice to the audiologist so that they will give you a chance in the booth alone, that’s what happened with me at Fort Dix. I passed just barely (by 1 point) you need to pass there are rarely waivers given for hearing from what I’m told.
I lost 15% hearing in one ear and didn't know it. I was clicking for sounds that never existed outside of my brain. The guy had me take the test again and I promise I was straight thinking I could hear someone else's beeps. Lol.
Just went to MEPS. I tried to find a pattern to click, then found myself questioning whether or not I imagined the sound from anticipation. I had no idea if I was finished or not until the proctor walked in 2 minutes after I could barely “hear” it.
This is probably what is going to destroy me at MEPS. I have a class II microtia in my left ear. My ear drums, and everything is normal except that I don’t have a canal in my left ear. I can hear muffled speech in my left ear. My right ear is perfectly fine. My microtia can be corrected with hearing aids, but that would DQ me as well. I’m screwed. I’m going to MEPS soon, and this will DQ me. My recruiter is trying to get me a waiver though. I just hope I get the waiver
Diane Tran MEPS didn’t permanently DQ me, and they put in a consideration for a waiver. It’s up to recruit command in Ft. Knox if my waiver is granted or not now. My recruiter told me that he has seen it take anywhere from 1 week to 8 months depending on the stacks of waivers on the desks at Ft. Knox. I just got that news today after I submitted more med documents. They also scheduled me to go to MEPS again for some reason, and it’s because I have to take the DLAB. I guessing it’s because I was straight up smashing buttons during the exam even when I didn’t hear anything in my left ear. I just counted to 6 and pressed the button every time. They were very surprised how well I did 😂. At one point, I heard a voice come in telling me to only press the button if I hear something like she thought I was dumb or something. When I got out the testing booth I told them that I heard myself breathing and my heart beating, so i thought my breathing and heart beat overlapped the beeps. I told the lady that’s why I was smashing buttons because of background noises. My right ear passed though. My left ear barely missed the mark
either that or the sound of your own heartbeat drowns out the sound you're trying to hear

I've always been that way during hearing tests unless the sound is turned up! (I have hearing aids)

Just push every 5 second for sure to pass the test it will improve your score like drinking Green Monster before PT test !
