  • How to make a fun & warm fleece hat.
this hat can be adapted to fit any head size.
This is my very first tutorial. I tried to be as clear as possible. If you have questions please leave a comment.
    NOTE:
Since fleece stretches you need to add only 1/2 an inch seam allowance.

a great video... and super easy... my only suggestion is...after turning the hat right side out... and before u gather it...laying flat like u did... mark with chalk or a water soluble pen the 3" down fromt he top...you could stitch this line all the way around first if you choose... lay it flat...turn the fringe area toward you... and cut your fringe first... to the chalk or stitch line... then tie it up... I think a little easier that cutting after it is gathered

Since I have first watched your video I have made 68 hatsets for the homeless 47 hatsets for a home for girls, in the last four days ive made 24 hatsets, making 30 for an ASSISTED LIVING HOME or women and 10 for the men.
I just want to thank you soooo much.
God showed out this year all of my fabric was under 3.00 and people donated toward my endeavor.
My suggestion is that you cut before you tie much quicker.
I also have scarves to match all hatsets ive made.
    Bless you.

I really liked the simplicity of cutting and sewing straight lines on this project. Yet it is still such a nice attractive finish on your hat. I think I would cut those slits while it's flat on the table. I have a "June Tailor Shape Cut 12''x12'' Slotted Ruler", which could make rotary cutting those slits quick, after sewing, even with 2 layers. I want to make a lot of these to donate to FEMA disaster areas; hurricane, fire, flood. Thanks for sharing.

There's so many fleece hat videos out there...and I have searched high and low ...I never seen yours before. I don't search anymore for it....it was back in 2014 when I was learning to make things on my machine. I was taught one hat pattern when I was in my 20,s...and it was by hand. I just wanted to say that I love your video...love your pattern...and I just hit up Joann fabrics 70% fleece today.....so I walked out with 15-20 different prints .....I'm about to go hat happy on my sewing machine lolol...Best Regards fellow sewing hero . :)

Of all the hat videos I have watched this is the best one I have watched, I do agree with Ruth Freeman in a previous about cutting the fringe before tying it up.I also would stitch the tie to the hat before I tied it just incase it came untied. I will def make this. I hadn't even attempted it because I thought it would be much harder. I have an adult male to make a hat for and this will be perfect I have no idea how large to make it you just solved that mystery. Thanks again.

You were refreshing with truth. Thank you. My band was my hard spot as many tell you to add it separately but then a nasty seem is showing and not nice. Your advice about adding that to the cut is good advice. You must be a pro by now.
