- How to make a fun & warm fleece hat.
this hat can be adapted to fit any head size.
This is my very first tutorial. I tried to be as clear as possible. If you have questions please leave a comment.
NOTE:
Since fleece stretches you need to add only 1/2 an inch seam allowance.
I’m teaching a young friend to sew and I search the Internet and all the videos I could find on fleece hats and I selected yours because the way you made it is the way I want to make it, thank you
Thank you! I'm so glad it was a help.
I really wanted to learn how to make this so I watched again. You are a good teacher. You explained very well.. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
You had me changing batteries on my smoke detectors, retired firefighter.but my wife and I had a good laugh after you stated it was your detectors.
Lol! I a lot of people say that they checked theirs. I guess it was a good thing 😂
I think this is very cute. It is easy and doesn't take much material. Would be nice to make them and donate them to the homeless.
Thank u for taking your time to show the instructions. Love Your calmness 😊
For being your first time you did an awesome job! I enjoyed every part of this tutorial! Definitely helped me to want to make hats like this.
a great video... and super easy... my only suggestion is...after turning the hat right side out... and before u gather it...laying flat like u did... mark with chalk or a water soluble pen the 3" down fromt he top...you could stitch this line all the way around first if you choose... lay it flat...turn the fringe area toward you... and cut your fringe first... to the chalk or stitch line... then tie it up... I think a little easier that cutting after it is gathered
+Ruth Freeman great tip I was thinking this would be so much easier and I would think you could even use a ruler and rotor cutter if you wanted, I'm not good with scissors, much quicker
From NY Christine. Very good instructions. Also, I liked that you showed us the head mannequin for measurements.
You did a great job explaining each step. You made it simple enough that I didn’t get lost or confused.
Thank you so much! I've looked at a lot of tutorials for this type of hat and yours is the best by far. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow.
And you did less talking. A lot of them do to much talking.
I have watched a lot of videos and I really liked yours. You show us in basic language how to do things. Thanks again.
Since I have first watched your video I have made 68 hatsets for the homeless 47 hatsets for a home for girls, in the last four days ive made 24 hatsets, making 30 for an ASSISTED LIVING HOME or women and 10 for the men.
I just want to thank you soooo much.
God showed out this year all of my fabric was under 3.00 and people donated toward my endeavor.
My suggestion is that you cut before you tie much quicker.
I also have scarves to match all hatsets ive made.
Bless you.
This just blessed me! I’m so glad you found this video help. God bless you for being a blessing to others!
For a first time tutorial you did a great job!!!!! Keep them coming, I'll be watching for your next videos. Thank you for putting this video up for all of us to see and be inspired with.
I really liked the simplicity of cutting and sewing straight lines on this project. Yet it is still such a nice attractive finish on your hat. I think I would cut those slits while it's flat on the table. I have a "June Tailor Shape Cut 12''x12'' Slotted Ruler", which could make rotary cutting those slits quick, after sewing, even with 2 layers. I want to make a lot of these to donate to FEMA disaster areas; hurricane, fire, flood. Thanks for sharing.
Great tip! Thanks!
Apologize for nothing dear!
You did a great job explaining what you're doing, which makes the tutorial understandable
( I did keep putting the video on pause thinking my smoke alarm was beeping 🤭🤣)
This is my 4th video on how to make these, and the first that has a double fabric 👏👏

I really like this. My grandchildren and maybe others will have warm double hats like this for Christmas. Thank you. :)
Thank you for a wonderful and very professional tutorial amazingly done for the first time. I'm going to make one or more. don't worry about the haters, there are always those who sneer and hate because their life isn't happy and one can only feel sad for them and let it go. Blessings to you and family.
There's so many fleece hat videos out there...and I have searched high and low ...I never seen yours before. I don't search anymore for it....it was back in 2014 when I was learning to make things on my machine. I was taught one hat pattern when I was in my 20,s...and it was by hand. I just wanted to say that I love your video...love your pattern...and I just hit up Joann fabrics 70% fleece today.....so I walked out with 15-20 different prints .....I'm about to go hat happy on my sewing machine lolol...Best Regards fellow sewing hero . :)
Great job! I made this hat with no problem. Keep up the good job❤️❤️❤️
I thought you did a wonderful job on your tutorial. I've seen those kinds of hats before and didn't realize they were so easy to make. I have to get some fleece and make my boys some hats.....thanks for posting!
My "Christmas" hat turned out Awesome!. Thank you! You did a great job!
You did a fantastic video. I haven't seen one that has the fringe. I think now that I could actually make one. Thanks so very much.

Thank you for a great hat tutorial :) Need to make a few and this is what I'm looking for. Only difference...I have quilting rulers and chalk markers LOL. I, too...checked our detector ...ya got us !!! hahahaa
Thank you! Yeah that smoke detector got on my nerves lol. My husband decided to change the batteries in it after I made the video.
Hi there, I can't believe it's your first tutorial, you did extremely well. Thank you for this
Thank you very helpful made couple for my grown grandkids. This is the the best video I've seen, you explain everything so I can understand. Keep up the good work.
Great work explained it informally
Of all the hat videos I have watched this is the best one I have watched, I do agree with Ruth Freeman in a previous about cutting the fringe before tying it up.I also would stitch the tie to the hat before I tied it just incase it came untied. I will def make this. I hadn't even attempted it because I thought it would be much harder. I have an adult male to make a hat for and this will be perfect I have no idea how large to make it you just solved that mystery. Thanks again.
Also glad you told us about your smoke dector I was waiting for the video to be over to go change my battery in mine it so sounded like it was in my kitchen. I just know I changed ALL my batteries with the clock change LOL
Thank you for such a clear and easy to understand tutorial that has helped me so much! Thank you again!
I think you did a great job on the hat thanks and I will be making this hat.
I really like how you made this video!! I can follow along with you, pause as needed and catch up. You explain everything very nicely, and I am very proud of your work, and teaching. Keep it up, you are a great help to a mom of two. I live in Alaska and these hats are great to keep warm in and look cute!! THANK YOU!!
I can't wait!!
Great job. Cute hat too! The only thing I would suggest is also showing a more distant camera angle. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you so much ! Great tutorial so clear and my hat came out so well.
Excellent instructions 💓👍👍

It is easy to follow 👍👏🏻😍
I watched your video. I knit my hats but this looks easy and simple so I think I'll give it a try! Tks
The video was great ....Thanks

Hello Queen. I just want you to know you did an amazing job on explaining how to make this hat. I just completed it to make a sweatsuit I made, and I absolutely love it. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked it!
I wish I could post it in the comments here for you to see it. Are you on IG for me to tag you and give you credit? My page is @nmyzonecrafting

You did a excellent job
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Hey Frida....I just watched this and cant wait to try and make...You explain everything so well...Thank You...
Your presentation was sweet and will become more professional as you go but not apologies please. Yours is better to understand than many who make themselves out as professional. You were refreshing with truth. Thank you. My band was my hard spot as many tell you to add it separately but then a nasty seem is showing and not nice. Your advice about adding that to the cut is good advice. You must be a pro by now.
thanks for the video . I made a hat for my kids and I love it.
nice job, quick and easy
Thank u soooo much, my winter project❤️❤️❤️
Awesome!
Great tutorial, have some fleece going to make some hats.
Thank You.

You did a great job, you explained everything so it looks really easy. Thank you, and I'm going to try this hat.😍
Thank you for the tutorial! Great job on the video. I'm trying to make my son a fleece one like this (he's a Clemson fan), but I'm trying to make one of the flat top versions.
