This is one of those rare moments when a cover of a song outdoes the original. I love Hendrix, he was amazing. Stevie owned this song. One of the greatest instrumentals of all time.
Rico Carrillo but Stevie was also more than blues as shown in this video. He’s used techniques that not even Hendrix used. People consider him the best no necessarily because of his influence or technical skill but because the guitar was literally just an extension of his body and no one ever played with his aggression
Shane Allder I always say this. Stevie had the benefit of jimis experience. Stevie adopted a few of jimis playing techniques to make his playing the way it was. Stevie was extremely talented of course. Jimi walked so Stevie could run
Contrary to most peoples perception, Stevie is widely regarded as the greatest guitarist of all time. His guitar was truely an extension of his arms. R.I.P stevie, we miss you.
I still give that honor to Zappa. But Stevie ranks high up there. He was good enough that once upon a time he turned down an offer to play on the road for David Bowie.
There's no such thing as the greatest guitarist of all time and you've heard no one of any reputation say so. Your opinion may be that he was the greatest but your saying it definitely doesn't make it so.
Im a 53 year old woman who has been a fan of. SRV since i was 17. It is so AWESOME to see a younger generation learn about Stevie and appreciate his music. So awesome!
If you can't feel that ya might wanna check ya pulse!! Still blows my mind and I been listening to SRV 30+ yrs. The man was incredible and he knew he was on the same level as Jimmi! They understood they were the best at what they did in their time, quite possible the greatest two guitarist to ever live!
Someone to listen to, if you like guitar. Someone who doesn't get the recognition he deserves. But he's a master. Roy Clark. Yes Roy Clark, he's a genius on just about anything with strings. Guitar, banjo, fiddle ( violin ) , mandolin, also the piano, I think. Y'all are probably going to think I'm nuts. But Roy Clark is great.
Debbie Fulton you are correct. Roy was a master with a guitar. Don’t forget Chet Atkins. Just because they played country doesn’t mean they weren’t cold.
Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas flood. SRV Best guitarist ever. Personal fun fact my mom and uncles grew up with Stevie and his brother Jimmie here in dallas and I was actually named after Stevie
Alot of people debating whether he's the goat of guitar playing or not, idk, but what I do know is he's the only player that makes me tear up every damn time I sit and listen to him. He played with so much passion and feeling it's like he injects his soul straight into you and makes you feel every single note. He was something really special. RIP SRV.

Something crazy about SRV, he plays on gauge 60 strings. People who are way into guitar will know, those are some thick ass strings. Bending strings like that would probably make my fingers snap, SRV makes it look easy. There's a legend that when SRV was 16 he was skipping school to sleep and then playing in the clubs all night. One night he played so long one of his fingertip callouses ripped off, and he super glued it back on and kept playing!
Look for my story about meeting him in the comments..I think you might enjoy it.. just wish I remembered more detail.. I was young and those days were a 80s party blur ha ha
Me to,its so awesome to people who are fans of completely different music genres listen to his music. You can see the jaw dropping reactions and nothing but positive feedback he gets .it's so awesome
Stevie Ray Vaughan has made the biggest impact on me as a Guitarist. I've been playing for 18 year's, and no one made a lasting impression on me like Stevie Ray has. He used 13-56 Gauge Strings, which are heavy as shit, his soul played his Strats, his arms and hands were just extensions for his soul. Keep playing man, you'll build up calluses on your fingers, and the pain well completely subside.
SRV demonstrates what letting the music flow through you means. The music is out there in the ether and he taps into it and channels it through his instrument. Don’t know if it’s something can be learned... I am a Metal fan but SRV remains my favorite guitarist:)
You can learn to play guitar and with lot's of practice you can play tricky songs. But if your not born capable of making the guitar a extension of your soul, you will never play it well.
He didn’t just play the music...he became the music. I don’t think I’ve seen another guitarist lose themselves in the atmosphere like SRV. Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip and his trancelike stream-of-thought live vocals is about the only thing I’ve seen that comes close.
It does take years of disciplined practice and mastery of technique, until the problems are solved and the technique fades away. Then the Muse can speak through you.

SRV was and is the greatest blues guitar player to have ever existed. This is not my opinion. It is simply a fact. Check out his rendition of Texas Flood for confirmation. Dude breaks a string playing behind his back and switches guitars like a boss.
BB King broke a string and changed it mid song while continuing the vocals without missing a beat. I love SRV, and definitely agree one of the best, but blues has way too many subgenres to be able to call anyone the best blues guitarist to ever have existed. I mean, as good as SRV was, he couldn't play Robert or Lonnie Johnson. Just like as good as Keb' Mo is, he can't pull off SRV licks

I worked as a Stage hand at the illinois State fair back in the 80's and 90's when he came to play. I sat on one of his monitors during the entire soundcheck with my mouth on the ground watching in amazement. After running a spotlight during the show I Rushed down the ladder and ran backstage to catch him walking down the ramp where I got his autograph and shook his hand. I can palm a basketball and his fingers were an inch longer than mine! Cried when he died.
PINK FLOYD!!!! Lol just realized you havent reacted to them, Thats a must!! - shine on you crazy diamond, comfortably numb, Time, hey you, young lust.... any of those
I saw Stevie in Seattle when he opened for Day Charles for $7 and has never heard of him. I was exhausted by the end of his show! Incredible voice and hands. People went wild! RIP SRV 💗
Stevie was/is probably the best blues/rock guitarists of all time...REQUEST: Tin Pan Alley cause his voice is just as incredible as his playing...do it dude and we'll dig on it together .....
The good Lord lent the world Stevie Ray Vaughan just for a little time, so we could witness perfection. Then he took him back. We have his music to hold us over til we can see him live at the big concert hall in the sky. 😊😎😎
I enjoyed watching this video. Watching u watching greatness. Stevie Ray Vaughan was top 3 all time imo. I played this at my fathers funeral. If I could take lessons it would of been from SRV.
I just cried my eyes out wishing srv was still with us :( I'm so happy to see a younger generation finding and appreciating his music. I was 6 years old when I heard that srv died, I'll never forget that day. I've never been so sad in my life since then.
Guitar lessons? Dead: Jimi Hendrix. Living : Marc knopfler from the Dire Straits.. I just like the way he plays and sounds. And sings at the same time!
the fact that you saw SRV do somethin crazy; and had to pause so you could check out wtf he was doin- Its a good sign; when I was learning how to play I did alot of that; really trying to figure the technique, even if I just had an old video to go by- It's a good sign man, it shows you enjoy it. - Good luck; and have fun, learning to play any instrument is a fabulous; terrifying journey.
Stevie Ray was nothing but serious to learn to master the Guitar. His older brother played and left home leaving Stevie behind. Stevie stayed in his room playing and learning how to play all the records his bro left behind. Jimmy (his brother) even said I knew Stevie was serious about learning to play but damn. Jimmy said after a short time Stevie left home to go to Austin and damn he could play. Passionate for the Blues. I still listen to him everyday. SRV. #1
I love the description by the guy in the video saying that Stevie Ray ascended.....Vaughn had a style that was Hendrix heavy influence and he played on a whole different level than anyone else out there at the time. The man had his soul exposed in every performance....a true master of the guitar.....the most amazing thing is that Stevie never screwed up while he was playing....incredible talent gone way too soon.
You really should check out Jimi Hendrix. SRV is doing a recitation of Hendrix's Little Wing (brilliantly, I might add), Hendrix was where a lot of modern rock guitar began, as well as funk & modern blues. You really got to check him out, Stevie was a great disciple of his.
I love you're reaction. I respect your music knowledge. Stevie is my absolute #1. He somehow time traveled and taught Mr. Jimi Hendrix how to play. I watched several of your videos prior to this one and I've enjoyed them all.
If u wanna hear some guitar thats just plain unreal, listen to Steve Vai, Tender Surrender. Theres so many guitar greats but For me Vai was my main influence along with Randy Rhodes. Definitely check out Tender Surender live, u wont regret it.
I checked it out, SRV is miles better, better get your click together. You people that keep talking Vai and Sat have a itty bitty soul. I saw SRV once and Sattriani once. It was night and day, SRV is far, far the greater player and talent.

Bruuuuuuh! Stevie is the man by far! "Texas flood " live will completely blow ya mind!
PINK FLOYD!!!! Lol just realized you havent reacted to them, Thats a must!! - shine on you crazy diamond, comfortably numb, Time, hey you, young lust.... any of those

Another vote for comfortably numb. A great song to get hooked on them to then venture out to more of their music. A gateway song for sure.

Second Shine on you crazy diamond. Also recommend anything from live at Pompeii. And Dogs.
The Pinkest of Floyds this ^
I saw Stevie in Seattle when he opened for Day Charles for $7 and has never heard of him. I was exhausted by the end of his show! Incredible voice and hands. People went wild! RIP SRV 💗
He Is The Guitar They are One !! The Biggest lost Ever When we lost Stevie..Hes the Best Guitar Player ever .. RIP SRV...Much Love 4 Ever..💕💕💕🎶🎵🙏🎼✌😉😊
Stevie was/is probably the best blues/rock guitarists of all time...REQUEST: Tin Pan Alley cause his voice is just as incredible as his playing...do it dude and we'll dig on it together .....
You just witnessed greatness. Welcome to SRV
exactly
The good Lord lent the world Stevie Ray Vaughan just for a little time, so we could witness perfection. Then he took him back. We have his music to hold us over til we can see him live at the big concert hall in the sky. 😊😎😎
You can tell Jimmy was his inspiration from all the songs he played. I got to see Jimmy in my much younger days but never Stevie
RIP Jimmy and Stevie
you gotta react to steve vai - tender surrender. he makes that guitar SING.
My Boy and fellow Texan The Late Great SRV. THE Greatest Picker that EVER Lived.😎
I enjoyed watching this video. Watching u watching greatness. Stevie Ray Vaughan was top 3 all time imo. I played this at my fathers funeral. If I could take lessons it would of been from SRV.
That look on your face is the same look we all had the first time we ever watched Stevie play. Transcendent.
Buckethead!!!!!! SOOTHSAYER! Watch it , react, be enlightened by the best guitar player ever. Your mind will be blown. Your channel is the best!
Bro u gotta hear Stevie Ray Vaughn sing...try Texas Flood live👍👍
Jeremy Kennedy oh yeah dude he's you can hear that emotion in his voice
I just cried my eyes out wishing srv was still with us :( I'm so happy to see a younger generation finding and appreciating his music. I was 6 years old when I heard that srv died, I'll never forget that day. I've never been so sad in my life since then.
The World lost a phenom when Stevie Ray died. He was a Master.😪
Guitar lessons? Dead: Jimi Hendrix. Living : Marc knopfler from the Dire Straits.. I just like the way he plays and sounds. And sings at the same time!
I love Dire Straits so much
He had a soulful voice to go with that guitar slaying. Check it out...Thank me later.
The greatest guitar player there ever has been or ever will be. His comment that SRV ascended is spot on.
SOOOO much love on this feed. NOT ONE negative, how could there be. Sadly missing, but never Missed SRV was a legend
the fact that you saw SRV do somethin crazy; and had to pause so you could check out wtf he was doin- Its a good sign; when I was learning how to play I did alot of that; really trying to figure the technique, even if I just had an old video to go by- It's a good sign man, it shows you enjoy it.
The GOAT. If you can't see that, and you're a guitar player, you got a screw loose.
You have great taste in music thumbs up
Stevie did an awesome take on a Jimi Hendrix song.
Hello from Texas he is one of our greatest treasures.
Played without even looking at the guitar. The man has so much talent. Keep up the awesome reviews.
I like your style. Keep open.
I love you're reaction. I respect your music knowledge. Stevie is my absolute #1. He somehow time traveled and taught Mr. Jimi Hendrix how to play. I watched several of your videos prior to this one and I've enjoyed them all.
Stevie Ray and Jimi are the only people on earth that could stand in for each other and everyone would be greatful for the experience 💯
Hey man can you react to Stevie Ray Vaughn playing voodoo child it’s amazing.
If u wanna hear some guitar thats just plain unreal, listen to Steve Vai, Tender Surrender. Theres so many guitar greats but For me Vai was my main influence along with Randy Rhodes. Definitely check out Tender Surender live, u wont regret it.
Windows to the soul
Agreed! I requested Randy Rhoades!
I checked it out, SRV is miles better, better get your click together. You people that keep talking Vai and Sat have a itty bitty soul. I saw SRV once and Sattriani once. It was night and day, SRV is far, far the greater player and talent.
@@michaelbyrd7883 wasnt nobody talkin to u sister, opinions, everybodys got their own, and instead of helping preston discover new sounds and expand his knowledge of music hes never heard before, you talk shit. You are So cool and open minded. I wanna be just like you..
I was born in '88 and my dad was born in '55. He got to see Stevie play twice. I hate that I won't ever get to see him play live.
SRV the greatest of all then and now.what he did was hybrid picking, using his thumb and mid-ring finger.the pick was in is hand.He was very quick and then the pick is back to finish the sound. a maestro on the guitar.King you witness greatness. rip SRV
