    Vocals: Elizaveta Khripounova

    Lyrics:
    Enchanters!
    The time has come to be alive
    In the Circle of Magi, where we will thrive
    With our brothers.
    Enchanters remind
    That time will not unwind.
    The dragon’s crooked spine,
    Will never straighten into line.
    What we plea will be
    A faithful end decree,
    Where a man will not retreat
    From the defeat of his fathers.
    Enchanters!
    A time has come for battle lines.
    We will cut these knotted ties,
    And some may live and some may die.
    Enchanter, come to me
    Enchanter, come to me
    Enchanter, come to see
    Can-a you, can-a you come to see,
    As you once were blind
    In the light now you can sing?
    In our strength we can rely,
    And history will not repeat.
    Enchanter, come to me
    Enchanter, come to me
    Enchanter, come to see
    Can-a you, can-a you come to see,
    As you once were blind
    In the light now you can sing?
    In our strength we can rely,
    And history will not repeat.

    If I get a good profession when I'm older, I would definitely make a business and set up a tavern of sorts in a city. I'd call it "Edom's Tavern" and I will design it so it resembles the old style taverns, for example the kind you see in TES: Skyrim and in DA:I. They'd have this rustic, medieval feeling. The lighting will be dim to insure a comfortable and laid back atmosphere. The walls lined with candles as well as the tables and a big fire place in the end. The tavern will be like a Starbucks, but old style. Just an idea...
    Edit: woah... it's been 5 years and I completely forgot about this comment. It's crazy to see how many of you really liked the idea of Tavern/Cafe. Unfortunately, I have not developed this idea as I'm a college student still. Nonetheless, the idea is still something I ponder so it's not beyond possible. Hope everyone is doing well during these crazy times. Thank you all for the support!

      I wonder what they mean though. I don't know the story from the game but that part "what plea will be a faithful end decree" I think she's talking about an ongoing wat that will never stop, so she's calling the mages to fight. But that part "Enchanter come to me. Enchanter come to see.
      As you once were blind
      In the light now you can sing?" Doesn't make any sense to me. I can't find an explanation nowhere

      @roanc3709 Před 3 lety +8

      @@gustavojendiroba4151 “as you once were blind in the light now you can sing” refers to mage freedom. Previously they were kept in the circles, many people not even being allowed outside (we know from witch hunt that the ferelden circle stopped having outdoor exercise after one of Anders escape attempts and most mages in that circle had not been outside at all since. In Kirkwall it appears the courtyard as accessible but nothing beyond that), with their behaviour closely monitored, their children taken from them and the constant threat of tranquility and the rite of annulment should they misstep. We also know that there was severe abuse in the circle, with mages being assaulted by templars and threatened with tranquility if they tried to fight back (and in some cases made tranquil SPECIFICALLY so they couldn’t. And I don’t mean regular assault here). The original Cole was locked in a dungeon by a Templar and starved to death in a cold dark room. Post mage rebellion they are allowed out. They are able to have families and keep them. They can feel grass under their feet, they can wade and swim in rivers, they can be angry at the templars and they can fight back when people try to hurt them. They were once blind, both in the sense that their lives were so restricted but also in that the majority knew no other life, now they are free, in the light and they can sing. A lot of the lyrics of this song are in my opinion really beautiful protest lyrics from mages taking their freedom from their oppressors. It’s a shame the writers decided to throw in some pro circle nonsense for “balance”. Because obviously a huge portion of mages are *desperate* to get back to the prisons where they are raped beaten and lobotomised for existing. I’m sure.

The lyrics appear to be a convocation, summoning the mages to a war. But is that mages calling other mages to fight for freedom? Or is non-mages calling the mages for help?

    Man, the versions are so much different... They both add so much, and yet totally unique perspectives to the rebellion. While the english version is much more about what appears to be an impossible struggle but from which the mages will not retreat after so much has been fought; the french one really celebrates the rebellion. It talks about a moment where all mages finally come together in one circle and about how the wrath of the dragon will never fade.

      Garrett Bell I'd say that the Qunari are most like the Ottoman Empire due to their advanced technology (powerful gunpowder weaponry and ships) and war with Tevinter (Byzantine Empire), though their ideology has some similarities with communism (albeit with a caste system).
      Ferelden is a mix of British (Welsh, English, Scottish) and Irish influences - there's a mix of Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and Norman aspects in its history, mythology and culture e.g 'Teyrn' is a Welsh title while 'Arl' is an Anglo-Saxon title.

    i think this song is about the way the mages finally are battling the templars as a whole. "Enchanters the time has come to be alive in the circle of magi where we will thrive together with our brothers" sounds more like its mocking the circle and refers to the mage faction as a whole as a circle. "the time has come for battle lines we will cut these knotted ties and some may live and some may die" could be them saying they refuse to accept being part of a circle as their only way of life and they recognize they will need to fight and die for that

    Ah! the old debate of freedom for mages or safety for all, this issue always got my dander up because you had only two "solutions" (Anders and Sabastion) when a compromise seemed simple. So my heart jumped when I heard Cassandra give her solution, an echo of what I had been suggesting for years.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ Před 9 lety

      A compromise was always possible, but not so much in the example of Kirkwall, which was possibly being affected as a giant blood magic spell (more or less; Enigma of Kirkwall). Then its Kirkwall which then acted as a big part of triggering the rebellion, urging some sort of result (with the Inquisition this comes to mean some level of compromise).

    • @vermilion6966
      @vermilion6966 Před 4 lety

      There's no "solution" in Cassandra's view.
      Its the same old sht.
      She might get a hold on templars/seekers for awhile, punish them for their misdeeds for awhile, control them better, then those in powers will change, current powers will die and they will get corrupted again. Then the same old religious paranoia will get a grip on peoples' mind and they will begin to fear mages again. And the history will repeat again.

      @Alika Fifi arafiah Plus, a rogue mage can kill hundreds of people with few people can stop them. That is why the circle of magi is necessary, maybe it's a prison for some but thanks to it, mages can help the people with their power and not destroy the country with their power. That is why I'm with the Templar, they actually protect people from not only mages but also bandits with the maker's blessings to rid of the world from evil and darkness. They took it upon themselves to ingest veridium that makes them slowly loose their memory, their selflessness is one of the best aspects about them. Don't even get me started on blood mages.

    • @Hjalmar_an_Craite
      @Hjalmar_an_Craite Před 4 lety +3

      @@breakerdawn8429 Yeah, rogue mage killing hundreds? How many of those "rogue mages" are actually mentally broken because of the circle? We have Morrigan, who is an apostate and yet saves the Warden's life. Anders helped hundreds of people in his clinic. Do Dalish mages kill hundreds of people? Did Malcolm Hawke or Bethany killed hundreds of people? But yeah, let's call all the torture, mutilation, rape "protecting the people". Chantry bullshit.

    • @breakerdawn8429
      @breakerdawn8429 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Hjalmar_an_Craite then why do you think we have the Templar for. To hunt those rogue mages and not only that to protect the people as well. It would have been easier and faster if all the mages just comply. I mean look at the Tevinter Imperium, that is what happens when a mage become too powerful. They have slave to do their bidding and also for business. Plus, tell me who started the civil war between the mages and Templar, that's right it was Anders a mage who so full of himself that led to a war with many casualties. A rogue man will kill ten's but a rogue mage can kill hundreds in a single burst. If the safety of every citizen means a prison for some, then i would say it is justified.

Its like they know they're struggling against the forces "they cant possibly defeat" as Varric had said, even if they're still struggling, theres barely any hope in this song and it sounds like the only moment they think when they can thrive is right now, while they're fighting all together despite the differences they have

    imagining my female mage grey warden (Solona) singing this song when Wynne finally die. Morrigan listening in sorrow from distance while Allistair view every token he received from the group in his throne room alone.
