Fashion, attitude and a whole lot of hair are what took New York City drag starlet, Manila Luzon straight to the top on LOGO reality series RuPaul's Drag Race (season 3). Since then, the fan favorite has not let up on the competition in regards to face or fashion. To prove that she is ahead in the race, Manila has teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producers Brian Kierulf and Joshua Schwartz of KNS Productions (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, 50 Cent) for her debut single, "Hot Couture". And now this addictive dance hit has a music video that is as fun and colorful as Manila herself. True to the song's title, the video showcases a myriad of over the top costumes created by a half a dozen fashion and costume designers including Viktor Luna (Project Runway season 9 finalist), Garo Sparo (Unleashed by Garo, Sundance Channel) and Marco Marco (NIcki Minaj, Katy Perry, Britney Spears). Even through all the fun, radiance and glamour, the "Hot Couture" music video also delivers a powerful and personal message.

Can I just tell you, miss Manila, I remember when this song dropped! You see, when you were on season three, well-when it aired- I was super duper pregnant. Falled in love with all the feels you gave me on your season, flash forward to this song being released. My son was still just a one year old baby and I just felt good about this video and how you shared a very real vision of how some little boys feel and yes, at that age, Henny! Anyway I've already rambled, im just here, nine years later with a beautiful son with adhd and autism, his favorite color is rainbow and he may not wear dresses or heels, he loves expressing himself in a beautiful, bright and colorful way ❤ again, I forget where I was going with this...

This song is a banger & I love Manila (still think she was robbed in Season 3 AND All-Stars 4) but tbh, compared to pretty much every other Pinoy singer I know, her vocals here are not great. Don't misunderstand me: the vocals are fine by normal standards (& I know the autotune is only used as a sound effect, not because she was ever off-key) but the Phillippines is famous for world-class singers & musicians. If she were living *in* Manila instead of the US & trying to succeed only as a vocalist (not as a full drag performer), Manila Luzon would not be able to compete with the Filipina singers who are performing today bc those girls are among the best singers who exist worldwide.
my 10 year old daughter and i are tryin to learn the dance moves to this song, cause we are singing this at least 5 times a day! we even got my hubby to sing it with us :) I love RDR and so does my daughter. im glad i taught her well on gender equality. I have a friend who is transitioning, and my daughter adores my friend going thru the transition. I just hope more parents teach their kids about gender equality.
