The Trumans saved the White House’s structure. Jackie Kennedy saved the houses history. Beautiful photos showing Jackie’s renovations, much of which is still fully in place or very lightly altered today.

Talk about a walk down memory lane! My very first car was an ancient 1961 Chevy Biscayne. It came complete with an “air-conditioned” back seat. It was rusted through so my little sister could see the road as I drove along. LOL

"How did we go from things like that to crowded, uncomfortable, and sometimes unfriendly airlines?" Because air travel used to be almost exclusively for the upper class. It's cheaper now and far more people fly regularly. Now it's closer to being on a subway than anything.

That sure is a journey to another galaxy for me. SUVs are now the new station wagon. Also old Cadillacs were enormous on the outside but not so much on the inside. The hood and the trunk took up most of the lenght.

I totally agree with that my friend! It is soo true, all you gotta do is open up an old magazine or newspaper and boom….you stepped back in time. That’s the great thing about documenting history, it keeps time long gone, ancient civilizations and life itself alive and preserved. Thank you soo much my friend for watching and enjoying!

I had to look it up because I was curious and apparently 160 dollars in 1961 has the purchasing power of a little over 1600 dollars today.
