- Today, we are going to review, check and test out the Eufy SoloCam S340, a battery and/or solar powered Pan and Tilt wireless outdoor security camera that has Dual Lenses with AI motion tracking. With the included solar panel, it can have "Forever Power" and not needing for its batteries to be manually charged. We will check out its features, do a quick unboxing, setup, installation, and check out its video quality in daytime and at night and we will run it on our usual camera testing and see if this Eufy SoloCam S340 is going to be a good option for your home security camera needs.

As a battery-powered model, its video quality is impressive and I like the combination of two different lenses.

Could you Please do the License Plate in the Night Test? This will be very helpful for users to understand if a License Place is readable at Night...as Bad guys come out at night time...thus test will be VERY Helpful. Appreciate your work.
Actually, most crimes are committed during the day as that's when people aren't home.
Because this is a tracking camera, it might not have a lot of glare but I will test it in my future videos. Remember be bale to read plates depends on a lot of factors...angle of the camera, distance and glare.
@4Shreks that may be true but its also true that many crimes are also committed between 3AM to 5AM...bottom line is the license plate test at night time would be very useful.
@@4Shreksdepends on your location, and crime rate in your area .in my case The dude was checking my garage around 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. looking probably for a lawn mower or tools. The same with my neighbor. After midnight they cut his car converter.
@LifeHackster thanks! This would definitely be a great idea to add in all future videos, as many users want to know if license plates can be read on the camera...I have had other 4k camers and was disappointed with the night time vehicle license plate shot.

They've definitely improved the sweep for the motion tracking. The floodlight ptz version is choppy, but works least to say. Definitely can see the S340 as an upgrade.

Love your videos and picked up the S300 package with Homebase 3 last Christmas based on your review. Happy with it but there are some areas along front of house that I lose field of view. In your opinion, given the s300 has 4k vs s340 having lower quality but tracking capability, is there enough difference given up having full field of vision coverage vs 4k video?

Thanks for the great review. A couple of questions. 1.) Do you know if it is region locked? 2.) If I do not get the home base, would the camera's still record during a power outage and be available on the app for viewing when the power is back on and the camera connects to the wifi?

Thanks for the review and your extensive testing. Is it possible to make the camera go to a default position if it detects 2 or more people, like a central view? That may one person cant "distract" the camera.
Is there an anti-theft setting or anything that can be done to prevent theft. Looks really easy for someone to just unclip and take. I just have a single story house and the highest I can mount one of these is 2 meters.

Good PT alternative from Eufy Floodlight 2 pro. The 360 PIR sensor of Floodlight 2 pro is better for larger areas especially anything coming from the back side of the camera.

I was getting really to abandon eufy. I recently bought a Reolink Trackmix solar version and it's impressive I love it. Buttt this is very tempting to try out this has very compact feeling. I must say I really appreciate your reviews this is my first stop before buying a new product!! I salute you all the way from The Bahamas!!
So you recommend reolink? I'm trying to decide between them and eufy
Honestly the Reolink Trackmix battery/solar version has been out for a while now so it's tried testing and proven but, this new eufy I'll wait for some time to pass to see more reviews from users. The only con about the reolink so far for me is, it doesn't send a thumbnail pic with the notification. Overall in general between the variety of Reolink and Eufy solar cams I own, I find that the battery in the reolink cams last much long than the Eufy cams. My Reolinks cams are usually triggered by tree branches all day essentially causing them to record all day and to my surprise the battery level rarely drops below 94%. With my Eufy cams, the batteries drains significantly faster and would end up to 60-70%. Maybe the Reolink solar panel is more efficient as it for sure charges the cams much quicker. But back to this product comparison, after seeing the video performance I would say this Eufy s340 AI tracking is much smoother no jerky panning to track subject it's much more fluid. I do notice though that the Reolink Trackmix hybrid zoom seems to have further zoom, I can read a car license plate 80- 100ft away. Maybe @LifeHackster can do a zoom comparison video to confirm. I don't think you can go wrong with this S340 though I will buy one to test it out since it's such a compact package.@@GITSSAC

Wonder how well the solar panel works charging during the winter months. I have a couple of the s40 solars that refuse to take charge during the winter months even with full sunshine.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I have the S340 and Homebase 3. Things seem to be working fine except when there is motion, I am not getting a notification on my phone. I have notifications turned on for the app and in the settings . I'm obviously not doing something right, any suggestions. I have tested motion and when I walk into the field, the cameras light also comes on. Thanks.

Question: what does overlapping motion activity areas do? You can put two areas in (a green & a blue one) … should they overlap or be separate or does it matter? Do I get twice as sensitive motion detection if I put two in overlapping?
Where are the solar panel extension mounts from, do you have a link?
Could this be used for continuous streaming if it was connected to an outlet via usb-c? Thus not needing the solar panel
Can the solar cable be extended? Reolink provides the ability to add 2 more four meter cables to their competitor to this camera, and that is critical to my installation. .

I have a question, if I set the camera s340 recording in one direction and I put a motion sensor in the other area, the sensor when activated does not activate the camera so that it turns and points to the area that the sensor is activating?

If you search for extended solar panel mount you'll see results online. It seems to make more sense to just buy a gutter mount though.

How about the Object Detection in the "behind the lens" ? As i understand, it is a 340 degree movement, but a smaller angle for the lens to see. Does the device recognize all movement in the 340 degrees or only in the angle of the current view ?
Did you make that mount for the solar panel from scratch or did you buy it somewhere? I have the same issue with the rain gutter, and would have to set up the solar panel separate from the camera.
So when you said it to dual view and share or download the footage it downloads the split screen dual view. Is there anyway to keep the dual view but download individual video files per lens per event?

I compared screenshots from your videos between 3c and s340 on 30 feet, and even zoom lens on s340 is not that good as 3c,maybe is video i dont know,would you be able to tell is the 2nd zoom lens is better then lens on 3c ? I need camera that can recognise regs on cars at least on 15 meters

Eufy have really raised the bar with these new cameras, does it detect at 40 feet in normal mode or only in dual mode with the zoom lense active ?
Im wondering if the zoom lense still detects movement when not in dual mode
It uses a PIR sensor for its motion detection so it is the same on both view modes.

I bought this camera after I watched your videos directly from eufy. I ordered it direct from eufy. The camera arrived damaged, I immediately filed a ticket, initially they sent me a bunch of emails to which I sent them all the information, pictures, serial numbers etc. The last email I got said "they have assigned my ticket to a specialist" and then I heard nothing back. I called their support number and stayed on line for hours at a time and no one picks up. My issue is still unresolved and it's been 4 days with no news from eufy's customer don't-care. Also, this makes me think if the camera is fragile enough to break apart in shipping, it is not going to withstand severe weather conditions like hail and high winds which is common in my area.
Not bad. The detection range was actually good for a battery powered camera
Kinda got lucky with it, and he cut it short. they cam wouldn't track him at that 40 range. it is not working properly

@lifehackster I know you said it doesn't patrol because it would drain battery so to clarify, does that mean the camera cannot be set to monitor more than outside it's stationary FOV 135 deg? For example, if it is set to focus on my front yard facing northwest but something happens outside of its 135 deg FOV like behind it at south east section of yard, would it detect it? Are there settings to help schedule it to turn every so often?

Does this s340 work with Eufy 2c pro 2k? You mentioned nothing about it. You just say home base 3 is that not the 4k ?
