My parents brought me home in a brand new 1968 New Yorker.
Dad's best story was racing a Corvette on the NJ Turnpike at 150 mph until the Vette's engine blew up!

The '68 Chryslers were possibly the most handsome cars Chrysler ever made IMO.

No, the ‘69 to ‘71 fuselage-style Chryslers were clearly more handsome. Unlike the ‘67’s and ‘68’s the fuselage motif was uncluttered and consistent from bumper to bumper. Unfortunately the ‘68’s probably had better build quality.

@@fairfaxcat1312 I'm sorry, but surely jest. The fuselage shape was some of Chrysler worst styling. It was the beginning of Chrysler starting to look like GM and Ford. Look at 68 Chev Impala compared to 68 Plymouth Fury. Worlds apart. Now compare the same cars from 69 very similar. The fuselage shape was the beginning of Chrysler's decline

@@mandymcinerney2816 Whether it’s the “worst”-I think it is the best, ‘68 to ‘70 Chargers are absolutely iconic-you would also have to acknowledge if you are consistent that the ‘68 Fury slab styling is copied from Elwood Engel’s early ‘60’s Fords. Many similarities between the ‘64-‘66 Imperial and the slab styled JFK death car.

I am the oldest of six, at 13 years old Dad was forced to trade his beautiful beloved 64 Imperial Crown Coupe in on a wagon, after Mom told the family we were going to have another sibling, added to my sister an brother at the time, so Dad special ordered a new 68 Chrysler Town&Country Beach Wagon! In beautiful metallic maroon with matching three row leather interior! Loaded with every option available! Like AM/FM Stereo with 4 speakers, power seats with arm rests front and rear, trailer towing package with hitch and 3:09 posi trac, instead of 2:73 open differential, that helped make it a tank in snow! The best part was the honking 440/4 brl dual exhaust Commando engine. We all learned how to drive in that car, plus took our road tests! After I was Honorably Discharged from The U.S.Army Dad let me use it as a daily driver till I bought something else. On more than one occasion in my youthful crazed fate tempting acts I had the speedometer buried! Where the needle went past 120, into the clock! Dad finally sold it after my baby sister got her own car, in 1988, after HS, with 150,000 hard but well cared for miles of My high speed hyjinxs, towing the family boat and all of us waiting at the bottom of the hill for the bus in the winter snow!

My dad bought a new 68' Newport with a 383 and optional 4bbl. It was the first car we had with A/C. We took a vacation out west that summer and I remember driving through death valley and the a/c compressor locked up, we were screwed. The compressor was part of the belt routing and trying to drive with it locked up had smoke rolling out from under the hood. Anyway we spent 2-days in a sketchy motel while the car was getting fixed.

Me too. My first car at 17 in 1973 was a used ‘68 Newport Custom 4door hardtop with bucket seats. It also had the disc brake option, power windows and AM FM touch tune radio with foot switch. I loved that car. Then, I found a ‘68 300 convertible with 440, buckets seats and console in 1979. I’ve always been a Mopar guy. Now I want another ‘68 300 convertible.

After the 60's, car designs throughout the industry changed for the next 30 years as cars became indistinguishable between one another. And while there were some notable models during that time, car manufacturers and so called designers and engineers have come up with ZERO in the way of imagination and innovation in the way of car designs. And quality? What quality? It's all a crying shame 😟
