Still amazing nearly a decade later. It remains my favourite of your songs.
Dude, this is amazing.
@@JohnSmith-wv5km this song reminds me of more when you see your least favorite teacher after like 10 years and thinks maybe she wasn't so bad after all
Brings tears to my eyes. Takes me back to the days of coming home only worrying about beating the next level.
Some people probably never saw the rest of this game after this level and the bee hive 😂.
This is so relaxing to listen to.. Takes me back to my childhood when I used to sit in front of the TV for hours playing this game.. Makes me forget about all the problems I have. Thanks for sharing such great music, keep it up.
The level is NOT relaxing though jeez it's a great way to give 7 year old heart attacks
This song is stressful! It brings these levels back to mind! I found these ones particularly stressful for some reason as a child
This video literally save me of a suicide, rn, make me feel better about all.
I cant express how much this song means to me.. it takes me back to that 25" Admiral i had in my room with the ironing board and a big ol can of Niagara spray starch sitting atop it. It was just my mom and me. Didnt really know what life was like aside from school and playing games. Fast forward years later, my mom is gone and life is anything but school and play. So the amount of nostalgia this song brings is enough to fill a time capsule to remind future generations of just how good we had it. Beautiful upload!
why do the stages i hate the most always have the best music...
im looking at you dire dire docks.
So you don't get too mad. Saving grace for us gamers that is few and far in between these days
this music is there for the sake of keeping our cool throughout the level. in my mind i think to myself: " damn this levels hard, but who cares i get to listen to this a little longer whether i take my time or get killed and come back at the checkpoint."
These levels in DKC 2 were actually my favorites... I loved the barrels concept, and the vines when you controlled the bird was actually a challenge I liked
stewievader that's how you get through them, the shittiness is overcome by the awesomeness of the music.
鳥肌がやばい… 素晴らしすぎる
I put my son to sleep with the original song all the time ... This one is amazing just as awesome & soothing ... I'm gonna try to see if this one will put him to sleep as well ... I always get nostalgia back to 95 or 96 when I would play this game as a kid 😔 memories ... 🖖🏼
+Dragoon Pyro yeah I tried it , I would lay down with my son & talk to him about my upbringing while this playing & before I know it he'll be sleep .. Tried it twice haha
Jodie Martinez well for me i played it on the gameboy when i was 9 (2007) and when i heard this song it was kind of making me sleepy
I found this video years ago and loved it. Now, years later I am still enjoying. Thank you, creator. -2020
I love this music. Amazing work there.
I've always been fascinated by this stage. You're surrounded by deadly thorny vines, you travel around using unreliable canon barrels, the smallest mistake sends you to your death, yet the music is so peaceful and borderline sad... so chill and relaxing.
There was some strange magic about DKC...
Im pretty sure its to have the players feel a lot more relax because the stages were so intense. I must say they were some of the hardest stages in the game.
The music was made to calm you down on those difficult stages, especially the last lost world stage.
not made to calm you down.. it's supposed to be unnerving, and it was. Intense fast action music would have made the stage very easy. Slow music plus fast decisions is alot harder. play it with no sound it's even easier.. like turning the volume off a horror movie.. not so bad after that
I have been listening to your songs for years and this by far is my favorite . You captured this song perfectly.
It took 12 of him to create this one!
You can do no wrong Smooth.
Took me back to the 90's again.
The SNES rocks.
Merry Xmas all.
This is just absolutely amazing! Diddy's Kong Quest is my favorite Donkey Kong game ever!
The bass he makes in this one is absolutely insane! :D
The best Christmas present ever :')
Checkpoint: I am bored, but this is amazing!
the tears... :') :(
imagine listening to this song in 50 years haven forgotten about it for all that time.
it would be like the ultimate nostalgia trip.
Your talent is phenomenal! I really respect you and your work!
Finally! Stickerbursh Symphony! IT SOUNDS AS BEAUTIFUL AS I EXPECTED! Thank, Smooth! :D
if only mining melancholy could get some love, hands down my favorite track from DKC2
Honest truth, I was just thinking today when was I going to hear a really awesome cover of this track. Actually I was whistling it all through the day today, and then come home to my computer and find this!?!?!?! Awesome bro, once again, thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.
So far, the Donkey Kong ambient tracks you've done have been your best work, by far, imo. MOAR PLIX! :D
Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 has the most beautiful soundtracks in gaming history for me .
The Acapella gives it more of a mysterious, sublime feel to it. LOVE IT!!! 😄
It's a December 23rd miracle!
Fun fact: I'm not 100% sure about this but I'm pretty confident... This piece and "Aquatic Ambiance" from DKC are the only two pieces of video game music which Mr. McGroove has covered that were *not* composed by a Japanese person. This great song was composed by the Englishman David Wise... such a beautiful piece if you ask me... it ranks right up there with the top Japanese VGMs in my opinion.
Kevin Thompson The theme was based on a Russian song, and arranged by Japanese people, so that's one of those kinda sticky ones.
David Wise composed the OST for DKC II alone!! Because of his works in DKC and in lots of other games, he's probably my favourite video game composer of all time.Edging past other favourites of mine such as Richard Jacques and Yuzo Koshiro
Noobsaibot21 Jake Kaufman puts out the best video game music of all time. OF ALL TIME!
This song deserves so much more praise that it gets and it hasn't even hit 1 million views yet. This so is just so fantastic and just so well done! Please, KEEP MAKING AWESOME VIDEOS!
This was one of my favourite songs in the DKC series, you have truly nailed making an acapella cover of it. I can especially appreciate making this rendition of all layers, voices, velocity and cutoffs like this.
Whelp, merry Christmas to me.
I love this track so much, I hardly go a day without playing it, seriously. And it's one of my absolute favorite things to listen to while I draw (which isn't nearly often enough, unfortunately). It's just so relaxing and wonderfully dream like. Two traits it shares with it's sister track Aquatic Ambiance. Which you also had a fantastic cover of, McGroove.
Interestingly enough Stickerbrush Symphony was going to be used for Donkey Kong Country 2's water levels also. However they decided that the sound fit much better with the "Bramble Blast" stages. And honestly I couldn't agree more. The strange atmosphere created by mixing the polar elements of serene music, and a perilous, and yet oddly beautiful, ocean of thorns suspended in an endless blue sky. Was instantly burned into my mind, almost nostalgic really. Like I had rediscovered some place I've been to thousand times, one of my favorites, but for whatever reason had been long forgotten.
In any event, you have definitely done this cherished song from my child justice. Different, but haunting in it's own way.
Well, you just articulated what I've been feeling about this for my whole life. Thank you for expressing the emotions inspired such a beloved song, and a merry christmas indeed!
this is a great song for showing off your different abilities
Bramble blast! One of the strongest memories I have of a video game! Great song, thanks for sharing your talent!
Man, the low frequencies...awesome voice, dude ! The dudududu in the inferior left corner was my favorite.
Absolutely beautiful. Since it's winter at the time you posted this, it fits so good with the season, and like others said, this video is like an early Christmas present. Thanks a lot for making this. :)
You've turned Video game OST's into Acapellas. That makes you super awesome! Bro
The Song is A FREAKIN' MASTERPIECE, but the levels...I WANT TO DIE.
Dude I love all of your covers, but there's something about this one which is so peaceful and calming - I definitely think this is one of your best!
You certainly did David Wise's work justice again. I think he'd be thrilled if he ever hears this
I flippin' loved Brawl's remix of this theme! Yours is just as great!
Genuine chills. Not a moment feels like it’s missing an added voice to fill it in. If I had to describe this in one word it would be heavenly. Ethereal stuff.
I feeling absolutely exhausted. I worked about 85 hours in the last 8 days. Several times until 4-6 am. I may be done with it in 30 minutes maybe, but your video helped me relax a bit. So thanks for that.
Kleavers It isn't. And I still have so much to do. The time I can relax will be April. *sigh*
Ah good. I was afraid you were wasting all that time on some shit job or something ;) This sounds like something that's worth it!
This just might be my favourite video game theme ever, so I really appreciate this arrangement you've made.
Thank you, Smooth McGroove. :)
Okay, you win the internet. Seriously, one of the best game tunes EVER composed, and you NAILED it :D
Still one of my favorite uploads to this day. It was too perfect. What's even more amazing is watching this video was my first time hearing this song. I'd never gotten that far in the game.
David Wise, the composer that did the music for this game, did the music for the upcoming DKC Tropical Freeze... so look out for that.
Yeah it lacked. Sad to see he lost his touch. This game had possibly the best soundtrack in gaming history. Tropical freeze failed on every level for me, sadly including the music.
AbleAnderson I respectfully disagree. I thought Trpical Freeze was awesome, gameplay- and soundtrack-wise. Not a match for DKC2, yeah, but then again few games are.
Ricardo Longo Just my opinion guys, but here's the thing - I admit that I may not be totally objective. My great experiences on DKC2 on SNES may have just been because I was a kid and everything was fun. Or, it could truly be that DKC2 was good but Tropical freeze was not. I will never be able to tell, because I can't play Tropical freeze as my kid self. But the fact is, as an adult, I think very highly of DKC2, and did not have fun with or enjoy the music of Tropical Freeze. But again, maybe if I had played DKC2 as an adult I wouldn't have liked it either.
AbleAnderson That's interesting, because I think Tropical Freeze was a step forward for this new DKC series like DKC 2 was for the SNES trilogy. DKC 2 IS good. It still is good. It's definitely better than DKC 1 and ultimately better than the uninspired DKC3. Tropical Freeze is just different. It's a hard game, but what made it less difficult was the amount of lives the game gives you. I had around 99 lives the whole game. Why do they give you that many? Just take away the lives system and make it unlimited continues. Same thing.
HE KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!?! HOW IS THIS HUMAN!?!?!
Never in my life have i played any donkey kong game, but i listen to this track (not the acapella specifically) often when i need to relax or focus on work. I don't know why, but there's just something truly magical about it.
Thinking back, I know why they used such a beautiful and relaxing song for these stages. I remember the frustration I felt trying to get through these. I think I had the hardest time with the one where you were flying around as a parrot. The music helped me to not destroy my console.
Always enjoyed your videos, yet, I still come to watch them again. just because they're too relaxing. I've probably been watching your videos since 2019/2018.
You're whole rendition is amazing here, but I really appreciate you're mastery when you scale from vocal up into whistling quote seamlessly at the beginning, just wow
This one looked like a real challenge. Good work McGroove
Super Mario RPG Forest Maze!
This is so powerful! You really bring out the beauty in these songs!
Well im gonna write here, but this is for all your channel in general... Man, first, you rock at what you are doning. So a big congratulations. Second... i cant belive all the themes you done so far, are the one's i love from my chillhood and beyond... So a big Thank You!
Damn, McGroove. You are hitting up all of my favorite game tracks. Awesome job. man. :) Nostalgia all over the place. :)
I take this as an early christmas present, thank you :)
Just dicovered your Acapella retro game renditions, these are absolutely amazing!
Brilliant track from my favorite game of all time. Thank you.
Best a capella singer singing best Donky Kong song...
Head explodes, too many eargasms.
Awesome! This music brings me a lot of good memories from my childhood. I watched your video about "Earth OS" and believe or not, it helped me a lot. Keep up with the good job and never lost your humility.
This is one of my favorite video game songs of all time. So glad you covered it!
Absolutely amazing... the best version I've ever heard of this. I'm jealous and proud of your talent that you found in making these!
Man, your song choices are getting better with each video. I really didn't expect you to tackle Stickerbrush Symphony as it's a very tough song and a fan-favorite. But you've managed to give it your all here. Great acapella cover as usual.
I know this is a pretty niche request, but I would love you hear you cover anything from Star Ocean 2 or Baten Kaitos. The latter in particular has some excellent tunes, although both soundtracks are very well done.
Why doesn't this have more views/likes? THE WHOLE WORLD SHOULD HEAR THIS AWESOMENESS
Man I have listened to this at least 10 times and it is amazing!! Thank you!!
As a child growing up this was always one of my favorite levels, and favorite track's in the DKC franchise, besides Aquatic Ambiance, etc.) I must say, you sir I applause, that you can recreate the exact melody and song done by instruments, Great Job.
I find it amazing that you only used your voice to do this.
Merry Christmas! And that was a fantastic performance and arrangement, mate :D. The sound is so pleasant, so nice to listen to :D
This is easily one of the, if not THE, most requested songs from Smooth. Very happy to see him save this for an awesome Christmas gift and put so much effort into it.
Of course, being the CZcams commentators we are, that doesn't stop us from posting requests. :)
Here's an idea though:
What if Smooth McGroove's website had a polling system put in place? People can submit requests and add in votes on the ones they'd like to see Smooth do next. It'd be sorted by game, track title, and number of votes. If you don't see the song you want to request on the polls, you can submit a new entry by filling out the "Other" section to add it to the list.
This will free up the CZcams pages of constant request submissions, and help make sure that Smooth sees each request and which ones are most requested. Granted, which song he does next will be entirely up to him, but it will give him an idea of what his fans (of which there are many) would like to hear in the future. Based on what I see, I imagine that the Forest Maze from Super Mario RPG would be near the top of the polls should something like that get put in place.
What do you guys think?
These were my favorite levels, with this song. Only one of them usually gave me trouble, but not for long. I'd keep playing them just to hear this song. This, Northern Hemisphere and Oil Drum Alley are my absolute favorites. This was fantastic and sounds amazing! Thank you sir, for breathing new life into an old favorite.
Oh my preetie! This is amazing acapella cover of collest DKC 2 OST. I'm freaking love it! Many thanks for your efforts. It's really cool, dude.
You need to do more DK ACAPELLA. I know it’s been a while, but these are awesome.
you're awesome, almost make me cry! Congrats, beautiful talent.
As a fan of all the donkey Kong video games soundtrack I found this very refreshing!!!! Extremely talented. Thanks for sharing 👍
My favorite video game song done by one of my favorite youtubers. This was fantastically done!
Smooth McGroove is the only one who can make the original song better.
2022 admirando novamente essa maravilha!
One of my favorite tracks of all time, done excellently. Bravo.
This is really beautiful! Another amazing acapella masterpiece!
This is in my recommended and I don't mind... While you're here I must say welcome everybody to one of the most soothing and wholesome channels ever created on youtube
Dude this is freaking awesome.
I think that ambient songs like this one is among your best jobs. You are the man!
I love you omg. Greatest soundtrack for a video game! It was so bad ass! You’re super talented and I love your kitty ❤️
The thing about this song, is that it's not only nostalgic now, but strangely enough, it felt nostalgic the very first time you heard it. Xx
I was 14 when I first heared this. Its unbelievable to me that 10 years went by this quickly. Thank you for your cantent, I literally grew up with it. ❤
Ooooh myyyy gooood ❤❤❤ I have so many memories attached to the themes from DKC2 (Gameboy version). I used to play this level over and over just to listen to the theme, so melacholic, yet so soothing. I honestly think I would respond to this melody even if in coma..! And your version is perfection.
Best song in gaming history.. you did it justice
What's this I see in my Subscription feed: an early Christmas present from Mr. McGroove? And a song cover from one of the greatest video game soundtracks ever made, no less? Thank you, I think I will!
As a side note, Freya's or Vivi's theme from Final Fantasy IX!
This will always remind me of the sunrise in Destin, FL. I worked at a Panera there around when this came out and I listened to it every morning before going in to get my mind right. What a vibe.
Just saw you were posting videos again. This song is pretty much my favorite and is seared into my brain because of how long it took me to beat Bramble Scramble.
Lots of people requested this one! Ambient songs like this can be really hard to do, and because this song rules so much I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to do it right.
Hope you guys like it!
next banjo kazooie please
Ho thanks its really epic man :D!
....I love you Smooth. Please have my manbabies.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! Waited a long time for this one!
Do Metal Gear Solid sometime McGroove!
