She’s a beauty! I had a 1981 I bought new. It had over 16,000 miles on the clock when I sold it in 1989. I rebuilt the engine a couple times during that time but I sure had a ton of fun with it. The thing loved winding trails and I had no troubles outrunning my buddies el Tigre 6000 and blizzard 9500 on any trail that had a few curves to contend with. Congratulations on your work!

Beautiful time capsule I had an 83 sport fire look just like the liquifire a little bit and Yes mine had to square headlight I've heard that the early liquefies like this 82 had clutch issues but I don't know how true that is but maybe it is considering you had to have yours redone

Curious to hear more about your TR800 failure. Did the 5/16 dowel pin break or the arm? I'm currently restoring a TR800 for the 82 that I am working on. I've worked on the 102C and 108EXP before but this one is my first TR800. I know these clutches were not exactly known for their longevity.

So the TR 800 in this video is pretty modified for a couple of reasons both movable sheaves have bronze oil, light bushings just like the 108exp (which is not factory for the TR 800)
the orange anodized arms are just like the bare aluminum factory ones except they now have pressed in brass bushings (how the failure occurred, and will also occur on a standard factory clutch the bushing in the orange arm, went out and seized to the dowel pin causing the top, half to sheer, clean off, sending the roller and weights into the bulkhead) as for the outer small rollers that run on the ramps I’m running a modern composite plastic getting about 1000 miles out of the clutch unfortunately, that’s not much then they have to be gone through again
My next one, I’m gonna run the factory, Comet style bushings in the movable sheaves and see how long they hang around
But the clutch itself is running a green spring standard factory
      Number one ramps (std ramps)
      Two shims between the spider.
      Standard weights
      Standard rollers
My modifications are mostly in bushings and having the main shaft turned down a touch
I apologize I didn’t see this comment sooner

@@Johndeeresnowmobiles good info to know. I think all of the Duralon bushings in my clutch still have some life left in them and I'm planning to run it and check often. I had to make new thrust washers (out of Delrin). I was thinking about the future and was looking through the Rexnord catalog to see if they offered the correct size Duralon bushings for the arms and rollers. In the back of my mind I was thinking "why not oil-ite". It is good to know you have already went down that path with the arm bushings.

The bronze bushing seem to work pretty good with the arms on the dowel pin but they seem to kind of wear fast on the movable sheave and outer cover i’m not sure if they’re a huge fan of the side force from the belt and centrifugal force from clutch engagement I’m running three TR 800s at the moment on different sleds with different set ups trying to find the sweet spot i think we are getting close but I also know I’m not the only one rebuilding these clutches and trying different things at the same time I share my information with another gentleman who is also toying with different custom ways of solving the tr800 troubles being as there is no replacement parts, other than the NOS stuff which sells for big dollars a package of ramps, standard ramps am55477 well run $50 if a guy can even find any it’s crazy how scarce those parts are

Awesome sled.... what is your go to clutch puller that you use for fire series deeres....I picked up 2 sportfires and am going to start the rebuild on the one ...I have heard to get the good clutch puller because there's alot of not so good ones?

The one I use I have had for years I believe it’s an original comet puller if I remember right
It works on this tr 800 as well
