I had a beautiful 'male' canary, always singing. Then one day 'he' laid an egg. She was sold to us as male and cost more than the females. She was a beautiful soul and although she's long gone. I still have her little egg.
They prob thought it was male bc it sang and female canary’s don’t usually sing, the pet store I got my canaries from didn’t say the gender and we just assumed therre girls
My female canary also sang. I have to say, it's song is sweeter and much more melodic. It doesn's have this aggressive tone that the males usually have.
this is sick! a few seconds in and the canary comes to sit on my head he behaves very differently, also how he moves in this room seems to be much more self-confident or courageous but I'm not sure at all if this is a good thing, in the end there is no real companionship for that little fella
Hello all! One of the male started moving faster all around the cage and they, i have 2 males, molting i feel bad for them 😂😂😂 i guess i suffer with them. I am looking for females but its hard to find and to trust those pet shops. Any advise how can i find the females? I live in Florida Thank you
For all those saying females don’t sing only make noise that is just not true! I e only had females and all have sung so far. Some better than others and all laid eggs so yes female! Unless of course males can lay eggs then well That would be a miracle lol. Actually one of my females went it go live with someone who had a male and she learned to mimic him and they sing to each other!

Είναι σπάνιο φαινόμενο, γενικά τα θηλυκά δεν κελαηδάνε. Ωστόσο κάποια θηλυκά όταν είναι πυρομενα κατά την αναπαραγωγή μπορεί να κελαηδάνε όπως αυτό εδώ
@@SongBirdsTV Το ξέρω. Μου έχει Κελαϊδήσει και εμένα θηλυκό (κανονικό όχι αρσενικό που νόμιζα για θηλυκό). Θα ήθελα πολλή άμα μπορέσεις να κάνεις ένα βίντεο με το τη ταΐζεις τα καναρίνια σε καθημερινή βάση. Ξέρεις κάποια καλή μάρκα τροφής να μας προτείνεις? Συνέχισε την καλή δουλειά!

Well my female cockatiel she screetches like a male and the male he's quiet unless I open the cage for them to come out oreo is the first to fly out followed by a screeching Speckles . Their the exact opposite of what their personalities are supposed to be like

Sometimes male canaries need some time to feel comfortable to sing on their new home, but the other two scenarios are also possible. How long do you have the Canary for ? Also does it have any metal ring on his leg ?(that can help us identify his age)
@@SongBirdsTV we have had it for 23 days,we bought it from a pet store,the lady working there was knowledgeable of the birds,she told us that it was a male and they even had a sign on his cage saying that it was male canary, But I’m having doubts,reasons being as explained in previous message, No there is no metal ring visible Thank you for replying 😀 ... Maybe I just need to be more patient with my canary
@@SongBirdsTV how does the metal ring help identify his age? I *think* my canary is male and sings very nicely but I’d like to know how old they are! I’ve had him for about 2 months
@@aflairforthe.evi. if it is an official ring it has a specific color every year and you can find charts online that gives you the year based on the ring color
@@aflairforthe.evi. When it comes to pet birds, most breeders put rings around the bird's ankle. This has information about age, gender, and sometimes where they came from. It's the same idea as a license or microchips for larger pets. We didn't but, we also didn't sell our birds. We gave them to friends who loved birds.
Yeah it is ! But after some research that I did, it seems like this can happen sometimes to females during the nesting period. So it's not so odd in the end.
Sabrina, He be very happy if you get him a cage for him self, & give a little bit of apple & a little dandelion leaf is very good for making canary's better. No budgies in his cage.
You are wrong I have now had two female canary who both sing! A They also lay eggs so unless a male can do that people needs to stop saying only males can sing!

I had the same issue. I took called Petco and the manager said "Some male canaries lay eggs". 🤣🤣🤣
