Grew up with this kind of music, my old man would crank the radio with this kind of music, as i grew up i learned to listen to newer country songs, But when i hear older country songs, it takes me back to the memories me and my dad shared.. hes gone to heaven now, but listening to Charley or Hank, man I missed my old man...
He filled the void left by the passing away of the great Jim Reeves. In 2001 he recorded a CD with songs made famous by Jim.. I was lucky to see him back in 1972. He was better live than on record like all really good artists are. No gimmicks and effects, just honesty and quality like country music should be.
I wish country was still played on the radio. Not one fm station plays country music anymore. They play pop and rap. Oh and Blake Shelton and that twig blonde pop star has never preformed a country song. The CMA’s need to rename themselves to pop music awards

He never tried to to anything fancy, but he sounded better than any of the singers who did try to be fancy. Just a naturally beautiful voice.
