Nab'Ubomi | SHAME ON YOU | Nongeke | Bizana | Inter-School Short Film Competition

SHAME ON YOU by Phalane Mlamli from Nongeke Senior Secondary School in Bizana Education District. A student film made as part of the 2011 Inter-School Short Film Competition.
About the competition: High School Learners write and pitch their story ideas as short film screenplays. The most promising scripts are selection to go into production as part of the competition. Writers of the selected screenplays get to direct their own films with a team of learners from their school fill the crew roles of producer, camera, lighting, sound, boom swinging, art department, script and continuity, and clapper board operator. The student crews receive introductory training and support from a mentor film crew as they make their film. All actors are from the school, all scenes are created on the school premises, props are sourced by the learners, scenes plotted and rehearsed by the learners, and the film is shot in a single day at the school. The School films are a mix of English, Xhosa and Afrikaans.

im so proud of my school and the young director (Mlamli), actors and actresses. Im glad the ball is still rolling on the field and you always ready to play so wisely. We played in 2008 "education the eye opener" by Mongezi Khofana also in 2009 "the Lazy mostly suffer the pain" by Gogwana Aphiwe now once again Mlamli made up us proud...wherever I go now im not ashame of saying my Former High School is NONGEKE S.S.S

Keep sharing, and speaking out about unacceptable practices! What I love about this film is how the main character found her personal power and owned it! Despite her situation she found a way to stand up and speak out, and so the film is empowering. This is not easy to do and we must support those who do!
