What's super fucking raw about it is that the entire male line of House Frey *evaporates* in a single night.
The only thing the witnesses can say is that Walder Frey poisoned his own sons, then removed his own face to reveal a young unnamed girl, and dropped that line.
This line on itself was better than the last two seasons. God I'm still salty over D&Ds "wE kInD oF fOrGoT"-excuses

I love how the girl in front instantly knew first thing that it was Arya playing Walder and not a flashback. Now thats a real GoT fan!

Imagine if the scene of Arya killing Walder WASN'T in the season six finale, and we never saw it. HOW INSANE WOULD THIS MOMENT HAVE BEEN?
Yep, they killed the impact of this scene, with that S6 Finale. Kinda wished they kept it as a flash back or something. They already had Dany's alliance setting sail, they didn't need another scene to balance out Cersei's victory.
Walder ate and found out about the pie, but cut-to-black before Arya revealing herself and killing Walder. Sure the cut-to-black was infamously used in the Sopranos. But here, there was another season coming.
Agreed! Like the first reply said, maybe hint that the servant girl could be Arya in the season 6 finale. Then intercut the flashback of Walders assassination with the reveal she's wearing his face. It would've had even more of a surprise factor here since she was coming from across the Narrow Sea back to Westeros and it was before fast travel was introduced. Still tho the best cold open and season opening scene imo

yeah it was definitely more impactful not knowing it was arya, since i dont watch the show but happened to see this scene before she killed walder frey

It didn't erase itself from pop culture, it simply ended.
The ending sucked but as you can see with all the spin offs and the amount of views in a years old video like this one, GOT is engrained forever in the fabric of adventure lore just like Star Wars, LOTR, and the rest.
Season 7 was awful and season 6 was heading toward the massive cliff it fell off - it really shouldn’t surprise you that trying to make television for hundreds of morons packed into a bar would lead to terrible results

I tried coming in to look for her but everyone kept calling me an asshole and a f****t. So I got embarrassed and left, never did find her, she turned out to be in the other back room I didn't know they had. So if I interrupted this episode for you at Burlington that night, sorry n shit😑
