In-game visuals may look puny for today's standards, but don't let it fool you. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest jRPG of all time. Only a few games left me so emotionally attached to stories and characters like this masterpiece. It makes you really feel like you are part of the world and the conflict that burns it.
Still gives me goosebumps after all these years. A masterpiece of a game and done exactly what a sequel should - expand and improve on the good stuff. Shame it went downhill after this one and a reminder that better graphics shouldn't always take precedent over gameplay and story.

Oh wow 2006. 525k views rn wonder how much it'll get to after the remaster release since this is considered one of the most play JRPGs by a lot of ppl.
Suikoden II is the best game ever! I played it so many times through and it touches my soul every time again. The story, the soundtrack, the details, the many different characters, everyone intersting in in his own way... the whole game is EPIC and will never die!
IT'S FINALLY GETTING A RE-RELEASE ON PSN! OMG! CAN'T BREATHE! I'M DYING! *rolls on the floor, drooling and bouncing like a bacon strip* *coughs* *stands up* Excuse me for this excitement, but I am proudly announcing that we'll finally be able to replay this game at a reasonable price soon.
ShinRaPresident The Konami staff in the US are currently pushing for a re-release on the PSN, they already contacted Konami's Japanese division a while a go and they're waiting for answers.

For me, it actually was the game that brought me in to the world of RPG's in the first way, and though I played and liked many others afterwards, no one has ever touched me more emotionally then this game. It is pure love from the bottom of my heart!
Many years and I still remember playing this by the first time (almost by accident) whishing to come back for that period once more to have this experience again
I dont have words to express how this game made me feel each and every time i played it. Its so i dont know, there are no words its UNIQUE even till this day PERFECTION-story,characters,music,gameplay EVERYTHING is perfect!
I disagree. I'd say the PS2 is the ultimate console for RPGs, followed by the SNES. The PS1 is in a solid third place though. The Gamecube also has a surprisingly solid line-up, but then it becomes a matter of quality of quantity, and in this case I'd say quantity plays a big part when deciding the best console for RPGs.
dobadobadooo True, but that said, when it comes to JRPG's the whole era between the SNES, PS1 and PS2 was just their golden age. After the end of the PS2 they kind of went down in both popularity and quality.
I still remember buying this and playing, not realizing there were 108 characters to collect. I got the ending that broke my heart. This game is one of my all time favourites.
This game is just epic ! Played for like 50 times or so and gives me the same feeling everytime . Mixed emotions that's all . Played 12 years ago and still plays it now that I'm 18 :) I love suikoden 2 ever nothing compares ^^ would definitely fly to japan and go straight to konami haha
I do think my favorite detail is the game showing the bright shield and the Dark sword rune in the title and them coming together and a flash of darkness hiding what it becomes. Then seeing the Rune of the Beginning over our hero. Second favorite detail is it shows Victor and Flick to put anyone coming from the first game that was wondering that they will be in this game, to you might miss that it's them.
I think it has to do with... 1) A growing interest in marketability over content by publishers. 2) A shift of interests in the genre's demographic. (Teenagers and young adults.) It is really easy to explain, but no less heartbreaking. Let's appreciate the few interesting JRPGs that still come (_Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV_ [Not for its gameplay, but for its cast and themes.]_, Etrian Odyssey V_ [The opposite case of FFXV.])
Suikoden 2's ending is what sets it apart. The true ending you get for recruiting all 108 stars of destiny is truly the best of the series(yes even better than Gremio in 1, and Lyon in 5), or any game. The true ending is the kind of happy ending you always want in a game and it just feels right even though they went through SO much to get to that point. Its just great to see three friends go through world changing events and still come out friends on the other side. Its my favorite.
2018 and i still cant find the game that can turn me up like suikoden 2, best RPG game ever!! This game win our heart, ears and brain and i think anyone who have played this game will feel the same way so thank you to everyone who works to make this game :)
Still the best game I have ever played. The depth, the emotional involvement, the sheer number of characters, all with personalities...the wonderful music, the amazingly drawn 2D characters...nothing can compare.
Rest in peace Murayama-san. Your legacy will live on forever!

Best RPG of all time. Yes i said it. Literally perfect in every aspect RPG need to offer. Storyline that made u go on emotional roller coaster, shivering OST (yes... every damn OST), character plot, hidden story, and it only have 1 CD in PS1 (other rpg could have 2-4 discs)
This has to be the most EPIC intro to any video game ever. The build up is incredible. There is no question who the main character is and what unimaginable destiny he faces... My favorite JRPG of all time and a game that was cruelly overlooked...
0:46 The crescendo with Luca Blight laughing while everything burns around him is peak badass!!!! Just can't get enough of that part.
July 2020, and I'm still playing this.
No doubt this is the best opening theme of any games I've played.
Sometimes, I've played this game all the way just for the cooking battles
My man
PLeASE spread the word. A spiritual successor of Suikoden is on Kickstarter ending on Augst 30 2020! Eiyudan Chronicles: Hundred Heroes. Made by Suikoden veteran developers. www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes (THERE IS A COOKING MINI GAME!)
I remember when I was 10, me and my papa goes to mall to buy resident evil 3 and i don't know how I found suikoden 2 and buy it as well. I had so much fun then while playing this because of the story, the graphics and nice soundtrack. But our playstation crashed so i can't remember if i ever finished this. Now i'm 22 and download it at my laptop and brings back my adventure with the three main character Mao (i named Riou), Jowy and Nanami. Sad I got the bad ending haha but I'll repeat it again 😁😆
This game is the most nostalgic game i have played as a kid in the 90s It has the best story and game mechanics in all RPG. The game will make your cry, laugh, happy, sad and excited It also has the best villain of all time Luca Blight! I cant wait to see how Luca look in the remake 2023..
I’m so thankful for my three brothers for introducing this masterpiece game to me. 😭😭😭
the very best game I've ever played, the plot that made me fall in love: 'i love suikonden 2
2017, and they still can't match the scale of this emotion of a war time epic in a JRPG
A spiritual successor to Suikoden named Eiyuden Chronicle has been announced. It's being developed by Suikoden veterans (e.g. Yoshitaka Murayama (creator of Suikoden)). The kickstarter is live and mighty successful (more than US $2,5 million so far): www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes/description
I'm 31 this year and after all rpg that i have ever played, this one right here is perfection, a must play for everyone.
I first played this game back in 2001 and up to this day, it's still first on my list. Thank you Yoshitaka Murayama for this masterpiece, rest well my friend.
in my opinion one of the best jrpgs of all time! i love suikoden one but two nailed it!!! every christmas holiday i play that masterpiece.
I remember when I was 10 or 11, i intended to buy resident evil 3 but saw this one and bought it. Hapoy I did the good decision to purchased this game. The best and most nostalgic game I played. 😭😊❤️
Goosebumps everytime!
If they remake this in 3D like Suikoden V and full dub, bet it would be really awesome. Suikoden II has the best story of all Suikoden series
and don't make clive quest related with playtime
True... Bro

One of the best video game openings I will never forget!
Oh wow 2006. 525k views rn wonder how much it'll get to after the remaster release since this is considered one of the most play JRPGs by a lot of ppl.
I played this game so many times, I never get tired of it. Suikoden 2 was my first jrpg I ever played. I miss the series.
They do not make games like this anymore I swear to god I am getting old lol
I still come to play this game every year 😊
Suikoden 2 is the best story that I saw in video games.
Not going to lie, i will get misty eyed when the remaster comes out. Also ....Luca Fucking. Blight!!! One of the best villains ever, imo
There should be a crowdfunding campaign for a suikoden anime.
After 5 years to what you say :)
We didn’t get an anime but at least now we’re getting a spiritual successor.
Suikoden II is the best game ever! I played it so many times through and it touches my soul every time again. The story, the soundtrack, the details, the many different characters, everyone intersting in in his own way... the whole game is EPIC and will never die!
One of my PS1 favorite games. Brings back memories...
IT'S FINALLY GETTING A RE-RELEASE ON PSN! OMG! CAN'T BREATHE! I'M DYING! *rolls on the floor, drooling and bouncing like a bacon strip* *coughs* *stands up* Excuse me for this excitement, but I am proudly announcing that we'll finally be able to replay this game at a reasonable price soon.
... A month later, still waiting... Ugh, Konami just likes taking its time to announce the re-release it seems.
*****
Got banned from their Facebook page once because I was tired of them never giving the fans what they want if it's not MGS.
ShinRaPresident
The Konami staff in the US are currently pushing for a re-release on the PSN, they already contacted Konami's Japanese division a while a go and they're waiting for answers.
Hey guys we are trying to make Konami hear us out for a new Suikoden 6 game can you pls fill this survey it just takes 5mins
suikoversum.polldaddy.com/s/who-are-suikoden-fans
You can also check Search on facebook for the suikoden Revival movement
If you like you can check my 2 Suikoden videos on my channel pls help me spread the word and make it happen :)
it came out on psn. the bad part is: you cant transfer suikoden 2 data to 3 unless you have the game discs or you have a backwards compatible ps3.
They're getting remasters and coming to steam.
For me, it actually was the game that brought me in to the world of RPG's in the first way, and though I played and liked many others afterwards, no one has ever touched me more emotionally then this game. It is pure love from the bottom of my heart!
This game will always be in my heart.
Anyone here after the remaster was announced?
Many years and I still remember playing this by the first time (almost by accident) whishing to come back for that period once more to have this experience again
Paulo Monteiro i soooo understand your feeling
Welcome back!
Now it's coming back Dunan Unification Wars
I dont have words to express how this game made me feel each and every time i played it.
Its so i dont know, there are no words its UNIQUE even till this day
PERFECTION-story,characters,music,gameplay EVERYTHING is perfect!
The best Rpg were on PS1
true....
True :)
true :D
In Term of opening i love Suikoden 3 still the best even now 2022! But story obviously suikoden 2!!
I still remember buying this and playing, not realizing there were 108 characters to collect. I got the ending that broke my heart. This game is one of my all time favourites.
I forgot that literally every jrpg had an epic opening.
chrono trigger, suikoden 1-2, valkyrie profile, lunar 1 and 2, one of the best RPG in ps1
have you not tried Wild Arms 1-2? those are amazing as well.
no xenogears? :(
+Sora Vanitas and chrono cross!
+Jamie Dash TV nuff said
And...Xenogears,Chrono Cross,FFVII,VIII,IX,Legend of dragoon.
They don't do this kind of Game Opening Video anymore. This is a treasure.
90s Japanese gaming composers up there with John Williams
Old JRPGs>Current JRPGs
I think it has to do with...
1) A growing interest in marketability over content by publishers.
2) A shift of interests in the genre's demographic. (Teenagers and young adults.)
It is really easy to explain, but no less heartbreaking.
Let's appreciate the few interesting JRPGs that still come (_Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV_ [Not for its gameplay, but for its cast and themes.]_, Etrian Odyssey V_ [The opposite case of FFXV.])
Sorry, I just can't appreciate an imcomplete turd in FFXV.
To be fair, Xenoblade exists

The music during the bit with Luca's face sends shivers up my spine.
This was a unforgettable game. Great history and great characters. Always in my TOP 5 ever.
Boys , finally. They remaster this . .
There will never be a video game antagonist as amazing as Luca Blight!!
I just keep coming back to this opening. This game is horribly underrated. For me, the best RPG game. Period.
2018 and i still cant find the game that can turn me up like suikoden 2, best RPG game ever!! This game win our heart, ears and brain and i think anyone who have played this game will feel the same way so thank you to everyone who works to make this game :)
Suikoden 1 & 2 remaster hype!
I played this game like i would say 30x already since 1999 and still on going
So many years later and it's still so good, maybe the best.
My favorite Suikoden game. And overall one of my most favorite games.
Best girl? Sierra Mikain of course
+darkHevn she kicks butt
Huu sierra is hot..but dont forget we got jeanne the rune hahaha..and teressa too..so many gorgeus lady in suikoden 2
The most beauty is viki...
Oulan, with her huge.....fists
Just don't take her to get the unicorn ok
Best Suikoden of all time.
Suikoden II
Suikoden III
Suikoden
Suikoden V
And the one that shall not be named. In that order.
Still the best game I have ever played. The depth, the emotional involvement, the sheer number of characters, all with personalities...the wonderful music, the amazingly drawn 2D characters...nothing can compare.
The game is already perfect. Until now it is still perfect.. no matter how many other games i have played, Suikoden 2 is still #1 for me.
