I would agree with Wintour. Unless you are a politician leave politics out of your job. There's an old saying, 'Never discus religion, money or politics'. In the privacy of your own home is one thing but at work is another. Stick to your job and make your political statements in the voting booth. It's a personal matter and making is public runs the real danger of alienating a lot of the buying public.

I think their subscription numbers must be precipitously dropping. Suddenly I started receiving an unsolicited "subscription" and so did my daughter-in- law... Magazines must have a large distribution to command top advert prices. Ironically, it can pay off for them to give away copies, to keep their distribution numbers higher.

It used to be that you could count on magazines in the waiting rooms, and the titles will vary based on the nature of the shop, but now so many people are checking their phones while waiting, fewer magazines are needed. Oh, when I was a young girl I couldn’t wait for the Fall issue of Seventeen magazine.
If you haven’t seen the documentary ‘The September Issue’ I recommend it highly. It takes us behind the scenes with Anna Wintour showing just what and how she captained the September issue of Vogue. She was involved in even the smallest seemingly inconsequential aspect of the September issue. She is amazing.
What’s the deal with September anyway? The new car models used to debut in September. The new television series’s, the new semester’s at school. September is the kick off for the party season.
It must be some occult thing they worked out would guarantee success? In reality September should be the winding down of the year, not the ramping up.
Does anyone remember ‘the September song?’ 😮 wow. What a rabbit hole @Neil Sean has sent me down.

I remember my very young adult days I would buy only the HUGE September issue. It was always the biggest issue... and though I would never wear anything in the magazine -- (also nothing would fit my plump body lol) ... it truely did give you an idea of what the Fall and Winters Colors would be and the length of the skirts..... I think it was just a "thing" woman did with the September issue. Have not purchased it in years and years now... but will pick up the Sept. issue in the grocery store and flip through it for old times sake.

You are correct as well that it’s too heavy. It will go under . I don’t know anyone who gets Vogue anymore. 🇺🇸 love your beautiful backgrounds .

When I realized just how much garbage the old magazines created--“I STOPPED GETTING ANYTHING BUT DIGITAL MAGAZINES--I CAN GO TO MY LIBRARY AND REDOWNLOAD ANY ISSUE OR ARTICLE I WANT WITHOUT ALL THE SPACE REQUIRED TO STORE BACK ISSUES!” Also digital magazines are not the FIRE HAZARD printed ones are!

I stopped buying magazines as they contained far too many advertisements. When you are paying for something, that’s not cheap, for what it is, you do not want to lose the articles, whilst the publishers cram more and more adverts. I do not pay money just to see far too much space, being used by advertising companies, I want to read articles of interest. I know they have to make money somehow but shirt changing their customers, is not the way to go. I thought they would be intelligent enough to realise, that they themselves in the design and production of the magazines, are responsible for losing customers. There has to be a fine balance between their customers and the advertisers.

Vogue had been a women's fashion magazine focused on beauty, composure, and etiquette.
The moment they stepped into politics its not a fashion magazine.

The Devil Wears Prada, although very touching cinema, is fictional. Perhaps a more representative portrayal of Wintour and Enninful in the fashion editing business is R. J. Cutler’s , The September Issue. I trust you’ll agree. ❤

The magazines are SO full of advertisments, they ought to pay us to take them. They get paid by designers to show the clothing, they get paid by press agents to embed puff pieces. They sell advertising space. Then they want us to PURCHASE the Magazine? When we do, they sell our contact information all over the world. The ONLY time I read the magazines are when I’m at the hair dresser. Doctors offices have removed them since covid.

Spending loads on “ fashion” makes no sense to me…I do choose clothing carefully in regards to quality, fabric, classic style and so on. 15 years ago I bought a very good quality “ everyday” winter jacket…machine washable, good fit, good quality materials…on sale for $195.00…still wearing it and still get compliments ( from strangers, yet). Why buy high fashion…not only a lot of money but can you imagine the time that has to be spent on constantly curating an up to the minute wardrobe?
