EXO tends to be pretty unique with their sound/genre from album to album and even song to song so everything is always similar but different with what they release and the solos and subunits push that even further so they are kinda a different vibe to the main group sometimes I LOVE all their solos and subunits but all the members do things a little different as individuals and it’s great to see how much they have grown as individuals which is what makes the group as a whole so amazing imo cause it’s not the same thing over and over

I love EXO and all the genres they explore every single albums they release! and their sub-units EXO-CBX as well as EXO-SC also give us different flavors! CBX usually leans towards the japanese market thats why they mostly sings their songs in Japanese, and SC unit has more of a smooth western modern hiphop sound. Even SOLO works done by each of the 5 out of 9 members each have their own unique sounds as well.. but as always EXO always deliver TOP NOTCH MUSIC QUALITY!
Oh about them enlisting each member will serve for at least 2 years, we justt got Xiumin and D.o back this year..Suho and Chen are serving right now and they will discharge next year...Chanyeol will be enlisting by the end of this month and Baekhyun will also enlist by this year as well..now we only have Kai and Sehun left since Lay is chinese so this doesnt apply to him. oh fun fact, the boys have this tradition since they started enlisting that they always take a group photo of the members who could make it, sending of the members enlisting on the day of enlisting! AND they each always leave behind a gift for us like single songs or albums before they go!

They serve about 20 months so about 2 years. They have to join before they turn 29 and 2 (D.O and Xiumin) have finished service and 2 (Suho and Chen) are in it right now getting out either the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Chanyeol is leaving for it March 29 so once the 2 get out we will be half way through this.
I don't know how it is for civilians, but I understand that for idols military service is only one time, it can vary from 1 year and 6 months to 2 years, it depends if you have an injury. They must go before the age of 30, in Korea it is a year ahead the age topic, so idols must go before the age of 29. EXO is one of the older kpop groups, that's why they are inactive only for the moment. If they do make a comeback, it wouldn't be with all 8 or 9 members including Lay. We must wait until about 2025 for everyone to have finished their military service. Let's give him a lot of love to EXO ♥

Every able man by age 28, 18 month service. Women can volunteer. Depending on your entrance exam/eval S. Korean men have options of all branches of military and police. Also options of like public service, if you have some type of restrictions. Most men will wait until last to finish education and establish a career. Military service is strict, they have no kind of 'outside' interaction with anybody. Lot of people fretting on conscription in S.Korea, BUT the country is technically still at war with N.Korea. They have only reached a ceasefire after the Korean War.

This is from their Japanese album which is when I think they get more experimental. You guys also need to check out EXO-CBX The One because its such a funny video, and I think its more your style. But yes the fact that 5 out of 9 members (soon to be 6 out of 9 as D.O will relase a solo this year) have solo albums plus 2 sub unit groups, you get a bit of every thing. The fun thing about bring late to stan exo is that their discography is such a roller coaster to dive into. SO MUCH TALENT IN THIS GROUP.

As I understand it, Horololo is a made up word that the EXO-CBX members said is meant to mean something like tough or brave. You say it when you want to show someone that you are fearless.
Everything EXO does is connected to their concept and storyline, so if you follow EXO's story everything that is happening in their "Horololo" MV can be connected to things that have happened in previous MVs, as well as probably future MVs. Nothing EXO does is random, including their sub-unit projects and solo projects, it all can be linked back to their storyline. It's like one giant movie or mystery drama that has been going on for more than 8 years now, and it's up to fans to try and figure out what is happening with every new chapter SM releases. However, what makes it even more complicated is that nothing is in chronological order, even within a specific MV, so you have to pay close attention to everything that is happening to try and piece it all together, and you have to remember everything you have ever heard or seen from them in the past in order to figure out where each piece of the story fits within their larger storyline.
In the "Horololo" MV many people think that CBX are private investigators or detectives, and I agree, that could be their job. However, I like to think maybe they are investigative journalists.
One of the theories behind EXO's storyline is that the members are traveling through different time periods or dimensions throughout history in their search for the Tree of Life and in their quest to try and fix the destruction and corruption the Red Force has caused throughout humanity. So CBX, in particular, has several retro themed MV, which I see as possibly being CBX traveling to that era in history to try and get to the root of whatever problems the Red Force has caused to try to reverse, stop or prevent something from happening.
So, in "Horololo" I interpret it as the members are trying to uncover clues to a mystery or to search for someone. I think maybe they are searching for Lay, EXO's Chinese member, because he is the member that is away from the group. And because Lay, with his power of healing, is Baekhyun's power counterpart, it makes sense that Baekhyun would feel the strongest need to want to find Lay. Plus, EXO really needs Lay to heal everything that is going wrong right now and to protect the members from themselves and the Red Force.
There is also clues to the members searching for Lay in Lay's solo MV for his song "Honey" and Baekhyun's solo debut MV for his song "UN Village," as well as other clues that seem to connect to "Horololo" in those MVs. For example, if you notice the map on the wall in the office in "Horololo," that map looks very similar to the map that Baekhyun has on the wall in his "UN Village" MV. I'm not really sure what the map is showing us at this point, but I take it as a clue of connection between the two MVs.
Also, if CBX are investigative reporters, it might help explain how the storyline in their "Hey Mama" MV and "Horololo" MV are intertwined. In "Hey Mama" CBX have infiltrated a news TV station and they are working to break the control the Red Force has over everyone working for the TV station.
Journalists have a lot of similarities to private detectives, especially during the 1950s, '60s. '70s, '80s era. which both "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" MVs seem to be themed around. (If you notice there are no computers in that office in "Horololo", so that establishes they are in a less modern era.) So maybe you can see why I think CBX might be undercover as part of the media in both MVs.
As a journalist, I really see parallels in the "Horololo" MV storyline to the way investigative reporting was done before technology made it less necessary to do the footwork needed to track down the sources and information to crack a case or break a story. Kind of like, for example, in the Woodward and Bernstein era with confidential informants like "Deep Throat," etc. I think CBX might be searching for something to do with Lay, but I think they are currently doing it by way of the media.
You may remember in EXO's "Love Me Right" MV how we saw Baekhyun laying on the train tracks. I think the scene in the field with Xiumin sitting on the train tracks and Chen taking photos while standing on the train tracks in "Horololo" is somehow connected to that scene in "Love Me Right." These scenes on their own may seem strange, but if you have been following EXO's story from day one, you will see that even the most minute of details, no matter how strange or out of place it may seem, has actually been very purposefully thought out and designed to be a clue to another part of EXO's story. (Although, I don't know what it means yet, I am positive that that guy in the uniform who is sitting in the shed next to the train tracks, was there for a very specific reason, and it will probably become more clear in the future, we just have to wait and see.)
At the end when they say "It ain't over yet" what I think they mean is that the story has not ended yet. The storyline of them searching for clues will continue in their future MVs. And if you notice, the office is now covered in sheets of plastic like its under construction or it has been mothballed and covered up because it has now been abandoned. I'm not sure what this means yet, but I think it is showing something to do with the fact that they are traveling back and forth between time periods and they may have come back to the location from a different era in history.
Fun fact: Did you notice how EXO-CBX has 6 backup dancers? With CBX there are always 6 backup dancers because 9 is a good number when it comes to formations in choreography, but fans think it's also supposed to mirror the fact that as members of EXO, even as a sub-unit, they are still part of the main group. EXO's main group has 9 members so, the 6 backup dancers are supposed to be a visual representation of the rest of the members of EXO. EXO-CBX was EXO's first sub-sub-unit and some think that SM wanted to create a way to make it clear that just because they are a sub-unit doesn't mean that they aren't still connected to everything that makes them EXO.
CBX was formed because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin -- hence the name CBX -- were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit. Plus, CBX gives SM a chance to bring EXO more fully into the Japanese market. CBX focuses on the Korean and Japanese market. ("Horololo" is one of CBX's Japanese songs.) They are one of SM's most popular sub-units and they are so popular that they have held their own concert tour with just their sub-unit.
