I think part of it has to do with the way my parents acted whenever I brought up a friend of the opposite gender-- made me feel like I HAD to like them, which made me think I DID like them, but now I'm not so sure. Whenever someone was nice to me in the past I'd get a "crush", but now I'm pretty sure that's just because no one was ever really nice to me so I didn't know how it felt-- I'm so confused

Anxiety and the excitement I've seen described when you get a crush are pretty similar, so I have trouble telling if I'm nervous because of anxiety or not. Literally every single time when I get to know the person the feeling lessens lol

You're misunderstanding, so first it's on the aromantic spectrum, second you experience little to no romantic attraction like the average aromantic person does but you desire a romantic relationship which is what makes it different from just plain aromantic. It's still a very valid sexuality, and if you still don't get it you can do your own research
