Hi Nikki, I lost my sewjo when my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer. I didn’t sew for two years, but a few months after he passed I got back behind my machine and made him something as he loved it when he got things in the post that I had sent. I’m now back sewing watching your videos and have so many things I want to make. Keep making videos I love watching u xx
Yes yes ! I have been on a paper craft kick for about a year now…. And I’m ready to get back to sewing xx. But first I have to tackle my ironing mountain.
All such good stuff. Too much inspiration really struck a chord with me! So true. I have to do social media breaks to keep myself sane. Thanks for sharing.
I find the most effective way of rediscovering your sew-jo is to take your machine in for service! lol! As soon as you get back (from the shop) and see that space where your machine used to be....you start thinking of all of the super wonderful things to sew!
I don’t do social media very often at all. I go on Facebook once a month or so. I was wasting time on social media and one day I realized how much more productive I could be if I didn’t get sucked in. I do CZcams though 😂 I have a variety of favorites there so I mix it up.
I agree with the social media stuff….!!!! We can search and search for ideas…and see too many of them and then we get indecisive about where to start or what to start. Make your own ideas…plan your own creations….Then you can boast that it is your idea/concept !!!!
My mechanical machine needed fixing, but my husband got me a new computerized one. I don’t have an issue with computers, I’m a bit of a techy, but it’s so different to my other machine. The noise of it scares me lol For me it’s more procrastination, but part of it is basic accessories are a lot more expensive for this machine, compared to the old one. I’m on a tight budget, so for me the prices hold me back. Never had this issue with my old machine. I’m not a quilter but I sew clothes and make household items, and bags for people close to me. I enjoy the bags more, I ask a family member what they want in a bag, if they were to make one themselves, like certain pockets, size, colors etc, they are blown away when they get it for Christmas. Designing makes me feel good. So instead of sewing I’ve been drafting my own clothing patterns, designed my travel bag and cut out the fabric, I’ve also been tracing sewing patterns instead of sewing. I agree about staying off social media if you are comparing yourself with others online. This applies to me also. I always have a beef with these sewers who I term as bragging about all the fabric they bought, or the new sewing machine they got, or the new sewing room. Bragging gets my goat, but the reason it does, is because I’m on a tight budget and these people make me sad “ look what I bought at Joann fabrics” , or mood fabrics etc etc etc.
Remember, you can take your new machine back to store and trade it in for a nice machine that is not so expensive or techy. Or go back to your old machine if that feels best to you! Don't let those folks get you down when they show you their new n fancy gadgets. I'm sure your sewing is high quality. And you did it on your own, not with spendy or gimmicky tools. Be PROUD! 🥰♥️ GB
@@Charlie-cz3jh I did take it back, and decided to keep it because the trade price was pathetic. It would also cost more than the machines worth to fix it. So I’m keeping it, since I’m also a bit mechanically inclined, one day I will take it apart and fix it. Also, you’re right, the end result of sewing with what I have is no different to high end products. Thank you.
