    Did you recently just buy a Helix LT?
    Do you not want to read the manual either?
    This video might be for you. In it, I go through some of the basic functionality of the helix, some different ways I've discovered how I can use in in my signal chain, and some basic tips on getting it up and running.
    This IS NOT an in-depth video of usage or the finer details. There's tons better videos for that.
    This is just to get you going and maybe answer some questions you might have about how to make it do what you want.
    Hopefully this helps someone!

    While my HelixLT is in supply-chain-limbo, I went down a tutorial rabbit-hole so I could better understand this unit out-of-the-box (primarily for live application). Your video was HANDS-DOWN the most concise, most efficient & uniquely personable tutorial for setting a proper foundation for understanding signal-flow, presets & switches. Can’t wait to play. Never change. Stay frosty.

    Very cool with the timestamps as well, but one suggestion: to make them visible in the video's timeline, I think you should indicate your first stamp with 0:00, and then youtube will automatically recognize it.

    Nice job on this video. I use my recently purchased Helix LT with an Orange Pedal Baby (highly recommended) power amp into a real 2x12 and 4x12 cabinet. I use AMP blocks only, not PREAMP because of the volume differences and the AMP block gives you allot more tone editing options. I highly recommend a EQ block right after the AMP block for more tone shaping if ever needed when playing live or at rehearsal.

    Hey thanks for the video. First one I’ve seen about how to get into snapshots. Also you explained very clearly how to use the unit outside of an amp/cab modeler. I’m familiar with ir’s and loading those into the helix and using them was a no brainer. What I would like some more info on is the snapshots. I don’t completely understand them and how they are useful other than avoiding latency issues versus just switching between presets. I’ve only had my helix lt for about a day but out of the box it sounds pretty damn good and I’ve been a tube amp guy my whole life. It’s just not as straightforward as the analog approach. If you have any insight into the snapshots that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the video!

    Thanks so much for the initial overview and explanations! I've been using the Zoom G5n and contemplating going to the Helix, but the Helix interface is so poor in my opinion. Zoom G5n and G11 have better user friendly interfaces on the pedalboard and computer. Maybe not as versatile or deep as the Helix but in my view, more realistic and easy to use. thanks again!

    Yeah right on buddy, the bit after the four cable method about using the send return to bypass pre amp and using it as a second powered speaker cab along with my line 6 212 powercab. so now i can two different effects paths. if that makes sense lmao! . I have watched every possible video on helix lt and has helped but missing piece i didnt know i was missing until yer vid! i'm still tryna get looper to work as effortlessly as they make it look. part of it is the actual coordination with feet while playing with hands. why i have never tried being a drummer. anyway do a looper vid please! cheers !

    Hi, good video! I'm planning to use the power section of the amps since I'm not sure if I'll be using one amp aloneness might have to use different amps when I go on tour . So when setting up the volume, you mentioned to start with the helix master volume low, but what about on the amp?
    What do we do with master volume on the amp ? Do we set it at a low level and match it with the helix or do we just play around with both helix and amp.master volumes to see what we like?
    I haven't gotten my helix yet. So this is helpful :)

    • @coltonriver4456
      @coltonriver4456  Před 4 lety

      Hey Thank you for the compliments! The best Advice I've gotten on a good monitor sound is choosing monitors that you "Understand" how to mix on. I'm using the Samson BT3s which while on the cheaper side not only sound pretty good but I understand what the sounds I'm hearing fit in mixes and for tones. So one option would be to demo new monitors and see which ones you like. But FIRST I'd recommend trying to put a high pass on your signal and seeing what that sounds like to you. The helix has one in global settings or most software options have them inline. cut the highs off somewhere between 15k and 10k depending on what you like and see if those monitors don't sound better. If not, it may be just a case of needing new speakers. Let me know if that helps!

    Can you use amp models into the front of a clean amp - I have a Hiwatt Custom 50 that doesn't have an effects loop and wanted to use different amp models

    • @coltonriver4456
      @coltonriver4456  Před 3 lety

      You totally can do this, but a couple things to note if you do: 1. You're going to be coloring the sound twice. once from the amp model you select and one through the preamp of your Hiwatt. Might not be a bad sound but it won't sound exactly like the model you're trying to emulate either. 2.You want to be a little careful throwing a pushed amp sound into the preamp of another amp. You probably won't' damage anything but it's going to sound really odd so if you do it, turn your preamp and your helix waaaayyyy down and adjust up slowly to taste. Good luck!

    • @coltonriver4456
      @coltonriver4456  Před 4 lety +1

      mrfender for the purposes of the helix it’s the same thing. Pre-amp/ power amp really only comes into play when you are using the helix with an actual amp.

      @@coltonriver4456 I thought so. I've been searching for a video showing both. A patch with an amp and cab, and a patch with a preamp block and cab to see and hear the difference between the two. But no such video exists. Thanks! I hope you do some more videos explaining all the different ways and thinks you can do with the LT and make a series of videos till you have covered them all. But I know that would be a lot of work on your part. I don't expect anyone to do that unless they were trying to grow their channel. But keep up the good work. yeah FRFR just means Full Frequency Flat Response which means it doesn't color the sound the way a cabinet does, but rather lets the sound through with as much fidelity as possible.
