SM is known for it’s “vocalists” but they rarely sing these days. Ning Ning must have been in shock that she was actually allowed to utter a word live on stage in front of an audience.

So proud of Stray Kids over here idk.... They've always been singing it live despite those difficult af choreographies. And hats off to all the groups who sang live mostly

Before I even watched this I knew Ateez, Stray Kids and G-Idle were gonna be the top three. Groups whose rappers write their own lyrics (or who write their own songs in general) are way more likely to also give live performances. You can see those three take a lot of pride in everything they do!

@@myab866 probably didn't put the latest Gayo performance because this is the SBS Gayo, but I doubt he/she will because I noticed that even though aespa had a lot of live performances in 2022 this CZcamsr never included a single bit and always put them in the lip sync side. Probably an anti.
@@prmmdnn I don't think they're an anti lol. They gave Ningning credit here and called them 4th gen brst vocalists. They draw lots of aespa fanart and always talk about loving their songs on IG. Be honest too, that MBC Gayo "live" was drowning in backtrack you can barely hear them.
As an avid fan of Aespa myself they didn't "have a lot of live stages this year" thats a flat out lie. Unless your so starved for Aespa vocals you think 4 lives in 1 whole fukin year is a lot. Their only big live stage wasn't even in Korea, but Coachella in America where they HAD to sing live or they'd be a joke to the country.
With Ateez's Guerrilla choreo, you'd expect more like 50% lipsync 50% live. 75% live is actually incredible when you see how hard they go, and how damn good they still sound. Truly captivating. Plus when they are lipsyncing, they're not just mouthing the words- they're usually doing the most interesting facial expressions so it feels super theatrical. They give a whole damn immersive show.
This is a little out of nowhere but I learned ateez's halazia choreo earlier during dance class and let me tell you - my respect for them keeps growing the more I learn their choreos! I could hardly breathe let alone sing after dancing to only the chorus of the song!? Like gee how insane of a performer can one be? Truly incredible
Only the main vocal is the only singer to go fully live cuz the guy actually give himself his moment to actually sing , the other are the rappers ( not singing ). The rest rely too much in backtrack cuz they can’t sing well while dancing all out ( they try tho , but the result will be them out of breath ), in orden to do that they need to train as a Broadway singer or jk of BTS.
@@mev9752 JK does have some mighty lungs on him but I think even he'd struggle to be fully live and hitting all the notes with choreo as hard as guerrilla or halazia tbh! Also members of BTS also sometimes have relied heavily on loud backtrack such as Jimin and V, esp during Fake Love era.
@@purpleantidote6120 he doesn’t sing on the adlibs of the backtrack , but he still sing after that , specially in concerts cuz he has to sing too much and the time he doesn’t sing is when he is sick or was sick or has problem with his earpiece ( which is a technical problem ). Example : in the Grammy performance of butter is like the one time ( the other was in a concert when it was like s joke ) he doesn’t sing the vocal run of “bad” part while he spins around , ( hitting every move ) cuz he just had COVID. Meanwhile in the other performances he does perfectly specially if they have to perform one time ( TV or award shows ).
Even for one time the rest of the singers , like Beyoncé can’t do that. Even MJ couldn’t sing in all the dance performances choreo so he had to put a backtrack ( you can tell he wasn’t singing)
Actually, sometimes they are neither singing live or lipsyncing. I've noticed San has parts where he regularly doesn't sing or move his mouth with the backing track (probably because he's pre-decided he needs to catch his breath in that spot). I respect that. It also makes it move obvious that he's mostly live when he starts singing again.
I'm an ATINY but am so damn impressed with Stray Kids too. They truly love the stage, and their live vocals are great! Stray Kids and Ateez actually have so much in common, wish our fandoms weren't always attacking one another.

As a stay I feel the same way about ateez! Every now and then i see fancams of their performances pop up on my feed and BRO! They are true performance monsters!! Ateez and the kids are some of the best performing groups out there imo

Skz and ateez interaction in kingdom was heartwarming. It hurts to see stays and atinys fight all the time. Both the groups are extremely talented. I really wish people would appreciate their group without putting other groups down
Something really annoying I noticed while watching KBS gayo (for some groups) was that while in the official video you could barely hear the idols and their voices only peaked through occasionally, in videos recorded from the audience it turned out they were actually singing the entire thing beautifully (and audibly!), KBS just turned their mics down in the official version. And I just don't get why they do that, they sound great in the fancams, it's really unnecessary. 😭

I've noticed that a lot for most music shows. If I can't hear them, I first go to the official fancams (solves it most of the time) and then to fan-filmed videos if needed.
That’s why I never understood how people could make videos on how much groups sing live using the official audios. It’s so hard to distinguish sometimes, and the audio used could very well be a shaky-pre recorded version that sounds live. Unless they’re dying for breath, I usually don’t “believe” in official audios.
Yeah when I went to see Stray Kids live I was floored by Lee Know’s live vocals, not because I was “shocked” that he has a good voice because I knew he does, his voice is lovely, but I didn’t think he could project his voice as much as the others solely because the way most music shows are mixed, his vocals sound the quietest even when I can tell that yes, he’s singing over the backing track-it’s faint but I can hear it. But my word, that man can PROJECT. His voice was so clear and loud and maybe not flawless (whose voice is after 15 choreos) but beautiful all the same.
Got to see TXT live in Chicago this past summer and Taehyun’s commitment to his live vocals needs so much recognition. He is so good and stable live even with their intense choreo.
O my god I was also at that concert. All of the members are amazing singing live but especially Taehyun and Yeonjun. Honestly I can barely breathe while dancing so I have so much respect for people who can sing and dance at the same time

Taehyun (TXT) has really a golden voice. He studied and keeps doing it everyday. He's the bone of txt's songs with adlibs, harmonizations and different vocal tecnique. Probably he will release a mixtape this year, please give him a lot of love, he deserves this. Oh, also, TXT wil have a COMEBACK on Jan 27th with The Name Chapter Temptation. I can assure you it will be really good.

I remember back then SM or most groups only have their first weeks performances in lip-sync as they focus more to the performance/dance. On the next weeks, they simplify the dances a bit (not actually simplify, just decreasing the energy/power? how do you say it lol) so the idols can sing live (or partly live). It's just so hard to find live performance now especially in music shows.
Ikr,but in 3rd gen groups like EXO,Red Velvet,NCT U at first debut sing live but they never used that to aespa idk why

Actually most of the singers in the industry in general can’t , only Broadway singers, and in kpop Industry the only one that do that is Jk and jhope with rapping. The main vocals of TXT and lsf have pontencial tho. But you need to train like jk or a Broadway singer. Before it wasn’t needed to go all dancing while singing but BTS made it a trend so now everyone tries , but without the proper training, so they just lipsync or loud backtrack.

It's not something to be mad about as they've lipsync sometimes like every other groups it's not a crime.Generally fans find one performance they lipsync and assume for every stage which is not the case so it's not something much of a big deal

I tried to get this out sooner but SBS kept blocking some footage, so sorry for the dark contrast on everything. I find end of year award shows the most fun to watch since groups get freedom to chose their stages and if they will sing live (unlike perhaps Inkigayo or MCoutdown for example). As a result we surprisingly get a ton of super rare live performances/ solo stages you'll never get to see. I never realized how much of the 4th gen was overrun by Hybe either until this...
Great video still although I don't have the beast hearing but I does think there is a bit backing track in Doyoung and Ning Ning performance. You can hear that Ning Ning voice is doubled at the beginning. Of course it is very minimalistic even if we just compare it with Lia's performance.

Taehyun and Kai's positions as the main vocalists are well deserved. Taehyun's vocals during the brige was to die for! Though some people didn't enjoy Hueningkai's vocals and "screaming" I loved it and thought it suited the hard-core vibe of the song. Istg good boy gone bad is 100x better when it's sung live like during their tours.
DNA is my favorite bts title track and txt is my all time favorite group, all though they've done the choreo justice I wish they had sung more since I feel like thar would have enhanced my enjoyment for the cover but I digress.
Yeonjun almost always sounds auto tuned when he sings live lol, that's what happens when you're the it boy I guess. Soobin and Beomgyu have very nice deep voices however they don't often sing live and even when they do it's very quiet, they suit more slower songs I suppose but I hope they continue singing live and improving in the upcoming comeback.

I feel like Soobin actually DOES sing live often though he may skip the falsetto parts sometimes. If I was doing a sings live most ranking for TXT it'd be like Taehyun, Soobin, Yeonjun/Kai, Beomgyu. Like, in their debut days Soobin def sang which is how he got caught in that glitch during Crown on one of their promo stages.

For people who are surprised that NMIXX used a considered percentage of lypsync (even though the percentages in the videos are not entirely correct, so don't take it too seriously), remember that this is due to a new modeling and readaptation precisely because of Jinni's departure from the group, so much so that the first performance without Jinni was almost completely lypsync. It wasn't even 1 month since Jinni left NMIXX and they were already performing (precisely because of their schedules), let's say that their last performances were a mess but more because of these inconvenient occurrences. The proof of this is precisely their old performances, which are wonderful (mainly the not very flashy ones like KCON in chicago). *It is worth remembering that the special covers that NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, IVE and NEW JEANS did, NMIXX was the only group that actually sang live, so, even having this personal problem, they at least make a point of sing live.*

@@stellakatula1439 Calm down...The performance I was referring to by Le sserafim was a cover by The Boys that was totally payblack, it didn't even have a backing vocal, just an echo as reinforcement (doubled with a choral not correlated with the main line) all enhanced in post production. And this is so obvious that not even they disguised it - which in my opinion is a positive thing. I didn't just mention Le sserafim, but precisely the top groups of this generation, which, compared to NewJeans and Ive, Le sserafim is vocally the most consistent. But relax, the vocals were never the biggest attraction of the group, they don't need to take full advantage of them to hit because they are not their main income for sales advertising... Unlike a considered portion of smaller groups. I would even understand if there was any Ive fandom complaining about what I said, because it would make sense. If there's one group out of the three that I mentioned that really gets disproportionate hate, it's Ive... So you don't need all that. For the size that Le sserafim is, and for the problems that the group has already gone through, believe me, this is a remarkably comfortable group in proportion to the hate other groups receive.

Thankful for the taehyun praise! I rarely see any commentary for him when I read comments or videos but he is probably the most passionate in the group when performing and he’s very stable! Ateez never seems to fail to amaze me, I rarely get into boy groups but the respect I have for them is immense! They’re such amazing performers

Yeah the amount of hate they get over vocals is crazy when they are actually having quite a lot of live performances. Like you said they have even done a no vocal backtrack performance on Blue Dragon Awards.. how often do we see that from 4th gen groups? It's so sad to see people ignore IVE when they sing live and focus on their lip-syncing performances. I feel so bad for them, especially for Leeseo. No 15-year-old deserves to receive hate like the hate that she's been receiving lately, I can't even imagine the pressure, anxiety, and worse depression that she's feeling right now after people hated and mocked her.
Ive are stable singers and performers and keep improving all the time. People were hating on the maknae? She is actually really good at singing and I am confused and sad to hear that. Was it from the mbcgayo duet, bc people were just dumping hate in the stupidest, most unnecessary and hypocritical way only bc ive is popular. Ive lipsyncs less than, or at most, equally, to all the other groups out there.
People complain about them lip syncing and when they don’t they don’t talk about it 😭

@@SueweetieAJYPN she's literally lying. they only said her and wy were lip syncing while sitting down and saying it was embarrassing etc. people literally coddled them in this situation by constantly saying "i love ive but" "ive has great songs but i cant ignore this". For anyone being rude it was probably like 10% to 90% but they ONLY focus on the minimal criticisms and call everything hate while they go around cyberbullying and leaving their own criticisms on other minors. WY literally got the most backlash. Also, this video proves absolutely NOTHING. I can lip sync 8/10 times while another group lip syncs 3/10 and you choose the 2 times i sang live versus any of the 3 times another group barely sang live.

Just one thing about Yunho he does lip-sync some lines but it's usually really hard to tell when he does that and when he sings live, he is just THAT stable. Just recently they did a live encore on music bank and he sang his line while doing bunny hoops in full squat sounding just like the recording!

I knew straykids was going to be part of the top but decided to still watch it anyways and just pretend to be surprised.
They do have a backing track but they still sing over it and their voices are still heard clearly, even with their intense choreos they still try to sing most part live.

I think since the debut of Lesserafim, we all know that they can't reach easily the low notes of the Fearless' chorus, so if they can't do it without dancing it's impossible to do it dancing.
The praising of Taehyun makes me happy, cause he's trully one of the best vocalists in 4th Gen. (He's not my bias, btw) I wanna say something about ENHYPEN - it's obvious that they sing like half of their lines, cause their choreo is often hard. And we all know Heeseung is the ace of the group and considered as the best/main vocalist. But I want you to pay attention to Jungwon as well - he's really stable and he's the one who usually always sings ALL his parts, because he has good stamina. (He's not my bias either, so I'm objective :)

@@Asane60 yeah, whenever I watch their performance, Jungwon stands out for me with the most stable voice, and I have a huge respect for him for trying to clearly sing all his lines without skipping, no matter how hard their choreo is. (The same thing I love about Ni-Ki, though he is not a strong singer, he does his job diligently, doing the best he can)

it’s because she’s incredibly stable and consistent. but one thing for sure and is shown is that she at least sing’s all the difficult notes/high notes

It makes me sad that many 4th gen idols who are ‘singers’ don’t even sing… What even is the point of becoming a singer at that point? Glad that there’s still the groups like Stray Kids and ATEEZ where you can really notice that they just love performing so much!! TXT as well, I can excuse them singing less during a cover stage to focus more on the choreography, but damn Taehyun is so great :,)

Korea must not allow lipsync in music show because there are audiences who make efforts to attend and watch them live.. Especially concerts that paid by fans.
The thing is a lot of them, especially in festivals like this, are actually live in person but for some reason when they stream it or upload the official performance online, they ramp up the prerecorded vocals so we can barely hear them sing. But the audience watching it in person can hear them really singing live.

Another interesting thing is how many artists were invited from different companies. 3 groups each from SM and JYP, and as many as 5 groups from Hybe. Poor YG are not in favor. The rest of the companies were able to break through by one artist.
Hardworking Stray Kids not only try to sing live or at least make a special pre-record, but every time they prepare some new song that either was not the title track of the album, or is the title track from their previous albums like Christmas Evel. That is, they have to prepare more for performing with them.
