The crossbowmen that were not cooperating knew very well you were doing ONLY GUNS challenge.
yknow I thought you'd be keeping the artillery (except for maybe the helstorm) since they're basically just bigger guns, but I don't mind this
I will be using Hellblaster Volley Guns once I unlock them, but I won't be using cannons or mortars of any type. I really want to test the limits of normal war wagons, pistolers, and outriders as they normally get overshadowed by better options in my campaigns.

I think if you put those crossbowmen in guard mode they might've actually shot those bats. But honestly bats seem to make most units act really finicky
Well i mean, they are bats, even if they are big ones they are small flyng models, make sense, and well corona virus

In all fairness if I saw a bat the size of three men I’d probably act erratically as well.
Isn't it just a bug? Same happened to my crossbowmen when I tried to make em shoot ground units tho, they would just walk into em like it's nothing (yes, they had ammo XD), but they shot flying enemy lord then, cuz couldn't try to melee him
This is basically how I play Cult of Sigmar normally so i love the idea for this series

Im pretty sure that if you have guard mode on then free company units will fire their guns while in melee
Even without guard mode, they seem to shoot during melee sometimes.
Edit: I will give that a shot though, especially because they don't usually need to chase units down as they simply shoot them as they retreat.
@@BrilliantStupidity I’ve noticed that with dwarf gunners, it seems like the ones in the back still fire while the ones up front do melee unless told to do melee
@@BrilliantStupidity It's not guard mode, it's fire at will. that'll make them shoot in melee. just don't put them in melee mode
They would shoot in melee mode, but it would also make them die faster due to the low density of troops in melee. Not very ideal to hold the line.

I feel "only gunpowder units" would be a more appropriate title seeing as your still using them in melee and a hellstorm is a rocket launcher but it's still a good idea

I'm glad someones praising the free company, they're a personal favorite, able to shoot down early game monster, effectively rout fleeing units via their move and shoot, skirmish decently, support each-other in melee ect. Great early game unit

Loving the series. It's a fresh take and I don't mind that you edit out the turns where nothing happens. Not sure if it's a mistake but your Volkmar battle on turn 17 didn't load. It just goes from clicking on manual fight to the result screen.
It was intentional, but I should have made it more clear - that fight was just really basic and boring so I cut it out. Also, I'm glad you're enjoying the series!

This was a pretty challenging start to be honest, I've never got Volkmar so I had no idea what his abilities and bonus's are but wow there kind of wacky, great first episode though man, I think this one Is gonna be a lot more challenging just because of the limitation to just range ~

I do not understand how you play this game so well. I am s*it at this game. Love to see a playthrough of Warrior Priests only. I don't know where they stack on the power level but I just love the unit or class since Warhammer Reckoning. Love watching your videos man you are awesome.

Man, I thought this would be the easiest campaign by far and then I realized the empire gets handgunners only after a very long time then I looked at where you spawned. Then I thought what could possibly posses a man to torture him self in a game like this
Honestly ive found pistoliers to be pretty good, only if to attack single entity units if you need to get around and flank them.
Killed a sigor with 2 units as one was being killed with rocks.

Well this inspired me to start a Volkmar campaign.
I love that after a run of teeth clenched, nail biting hell trying to keep my poor lizards alive one more turn on normal, I can go online and watch clips of someone winning IE with some insane bonus challenges.

In the volkmar campaign i noticed when looking for those books its better to travel to ilustria cause the scaven an pirates seem to like doing raids across the ocean once the huntsman are eliminated
Casually turning Total War Warhammer into Empire Total War, line infantry for the win
theres a mod that gves any unit with ranged a hold position button, they wont move for any reason unless they rout or something, give them a target and they wont even shuffle around their own formation

With the new DLC, I believe it may be time to redo this challenge, this time for the glory of Nuln ! Though a gunpowder only one might be better, I'd love to see the artillery wreaking havoc if nothing else !

My man did the guns only campaign 1 year before the empire update/ DLC with the gun mage school being added which adds mm to gunners/ rifles

You don’t need to checkerboard with free company (or really any gunpowder units). Just put them in guard mode and the rear ranks will continue firing through the front ranks harmlessly while the front ranks are in melee. It’s something that only works for a few units in the game, but all gunpowder units have this buff.

Early game would kill you though, because you can't recruit any for a few turns and they're too expensive to field an army of early on
@@elijahgeorge9235 honestly it'd be fine. He starts with 1 of each, with ikit himself that's easily enough to take a settlement then abandon/resettle skavenblight at tier 3. Wait a few turns for the building, then get as many as you can afford (ikit gets a -50% upkeep on weapons teams from his starting trait and an extra 15% through his skills), so you can get a lot even on low money. Then just waltz around the map shooting everything.
Only third time I played Breton is and killed these 2 vampire guys over 20 times each
