Haha, look how long it takes for that waveform to be built upon selection. Damn, Denon really are miles ahead in terms of getting the most out of their MPU.
By the way, I say that as a CDJ3000 & SC6000M owner. In other words, I am saying that objectively. And, being that the CDJ's connection is hardwired (ethernet) vs. Denon's options
of being either hardwired or done through WiFi, speaks volumes about how slow Pioneer's implementation is. They clearly have not optimized their superior (dual-ARM) MPU at all.
Get it together, Alpha Theta!! But, I will admit the Rekordbox "Professional" features are a step ahead, albeit at a subscription-based cost premium.

waveform and all metadata gets saved to the USB stick or you can pre-analyse in rekordbox + add hot cues/loops/etc. there that are instantly available in the players then when you load a track.

@@sgtcreasegrease And why would they? The CDJ 3000 offers the best sound quality of any media player on the market and 95% of touring DJs use Rekordbox or iTunes to organise their music and they ALL export using Rekordbox.

And why wouldn't you want them to be more successful? Competition is good for everyone.
And idk about you but for all the people that use rekordbox I also see a lot of mfs routinely complaining about it. People use it because as of now CDJs are the industry standard player in most venues and clubs, and personally I think that's more down to cult bullshit than anything.

@@sgtcreasegrease I never said anything about Engine DJ not being able to improve in the future either, simply pointing out that at this moment in time (and since it was released), it is not considered as reliable or fully featured as Rekordbox, for MUSIC LIBRARY MANAGEMENT.
Pioneer are the industry standard, because like I said 99% of DJs request 2000nxs2s or 3000s on their riders, because they use Rekordbox to organise and export their tunes, it's as simple as that.

Still lacking behind Denon… not featuring Tidal is a big let down… however, I do understand that companies behind the scenes are in bed together and when you look at pretty much any videos of DJs in clubs or at festivals they all seem to have CDJ3000s or Nexus 2s, so for Beatport to be the supplier of streaming music seems perfectly natural. It makes a demarcation between “Club standard” and everything else. I’d love to see Numark, Rane & Denon in club booths but the riders of many DJs stipulate Pioneer kit as that’s what ecosystem almost all club DJs know. I would like to see how many clubs have non Pioneer kit… as always, great video Mojaxx!

I'm a Beatport Streaming user, this is where most of my music comes from including playing in clubs (HID Performance mode with laptop currently). On the surface, this is great progress, finally.
However, the $$ extraction by Pioneer by pay walling the library sharing between RB and the CDJ through their Cloud subscription is infuriating. They built the capability to share the meta data (that's how it does it via cloud sync) but wouldn't let you do that through your USB stick. Mental..
Secondly, lack of offline locker support on the USB is going to make this unusable in so many smaller clubs that don't have the Internet access set up in the booth.
Looks like I'll continue with using laptop in HID mode for foreseeable future for gigs

It's their business model sadly, but what I can't understand is why there is a pay wall for people who OWN CDJ3000s.
Obviously they want to charge touring DJs through the nose for using their service live in clubs, but there should at the very least be a way to unlock this feature, with a licence key for owning your own CDJ3000s, which you authenticate with your USB/SD card.

Having been let down so many times by the promises of promoters I've been shaped in to being a pessimist in my adult life. I don't like using laptops for gig's as always fear a random bluescreen crash or some technical fault during a forced windows update during a set, so like to just rely on the CDJ's or all-in-one unit i'm using. So the thought of having to rely on the venues wifi/internet fills me with such dread that i'd have a hard time doing this in a live club environment. But certainly would struggle at an outdoor festival too where internet is hard enough on your phone - but that's just me & wouldn't want to use this at home & become reliant on it only to fail out in the wild.
In a controlled environment then this is great tech....just a shame Pioneer are so late to the party with it. Would be fascinating to find out how many full time DJ's would be happy to rely on this. Also surprised this has come as a free update & not bolted on to their next player with a £200 increase.....'cause Pioneer

So if you have a CDJ3000 and hook it up to someone else’s setup, yours will also have access to beatport? What if you remove your player from their network and take it back home to yours? Beatport no longer available?

    • @Mojaxx

If you log in to one player, then your account is available on the other linked players. When you remove your drive and go home, nobody else can access the service as you’re then logged out.

Beatport streaming should be more for discovery than performance. Test out tracks to play before actually purchasing them. Even with all the advancements that Denon have made w' reguard to streaming, I still don't think that performance streaming is solid enough to be completely reliable. But, as a discovery tool, hell yeah, it's great! That said, these companies are definitely pushing the innovations forward, and I imagine one day it will day be identical w' mixing from vinyl or USBs.

They way this should have worked is that you could store your beatport offline locker on a Rekordbox USB and use built-in wifi on the player simply to authenticate your account. Anything less than that seems super clunky.
I usually use CDJs in two scenarios. Both are horrible for this implementation.
Scenario 1: I'm at a club and they are installed. The chance that whoever installed them has this set up correct is so low that I would just expect it not to work.
Scenario 2: My friends and I set up CDJs for a one-off event in a location that will be a nightmare to run a hardwired internet connection to.

Sorry, but there is actual competition to CDJs now, so obviously anytime either company brings out a feature it is going to get compared to the other. That's just how it's going to be going forward. I own both, so I can appreciate the healthy competition/discourse surrounding the subject. Perhps you should reframe your thinking. With competition, the consumer wins out in the end. The ONLY reason you are seeing CDJs support streaming is because Denon did it first. In fact, there are several features that Pioneer have been forced to adopt because Denon had done it first, and as a result, have stolen marketshare from Pioneer. This is a good thing.

@richardturpin3665 the same thing was said when labels started commercially selling records in volume at record shops.
Then the same thing was said when CDs became a thing.
Believe it or not, the EXACT same thing was said when iTunes, Beatport, Juno, etc brought music downloads to the mainstream.
And now, of course it’s being said about streaming as well.
Access to popular music is only 1 of the many pieces to the “individual original DJ” pie. There’s so, sooooo many additional ways to differentiate yourself and your music from the masses. Anyone that relies only/mostly on top 10 lists to be a “good DJ” is definitely in the lazy/underperforming DJ category.
