I still love that Carmen (the trans woman) is basically the only character in the show that is living happily with no real negative effects from interacting with the gang

There are a few characters like that. That ponderosa guy was on a downward spiral already when he met the gang, the army guy with the jean shorts was wholly unaffected even when involved several times. There's also Artemis and some others that slipped my mind.

"Mac Fights Gay Marriage" only gets funnier as time goes on.
Mac reminds me of so many male conservatives, where it’s painfully obvious they think trans women are hot, and they hate that so much that they overcompensate
The entire early show arc with the trans lady is amazing with Mac. It aged like fine wine.

@@R0FLC4T5 Def agree! S1 is not great with her character, and they themselves have admitted that using the t-slur wasn't a good choice in hindsight, but besides that it's incredible portrayal for a 00's sitcom. Take HIMYM as contrast and holy hell, I'd say it was boundary pushing for its time.

It's my favorite card, and my favorite clip of them starting a scene in the middle of an argument, meaning they had been already arguing for some time about macs dad and the guy finishing on eachother and the dynamics of the dominance in said finishing on each other

The delivery of the official talking about butts at 2:41 is perfect. They've talked on the podcast about how hard it is to get a real dry down-to-earth character reacting to the gang and not being extra, and this guy does it super well. Very lovely scene.

I think about this moment a lot. The comedic timing, the characterization, the body control, the awareness... absolutely masterful comedic acting.
How have they not been buried in a mountain of awards? ... as an ensemble, the show, and both Charlie and Dennis individually.
It's not explicitly a titlecard punchline, but my favorite cutaway to the title card was "The Gang gets Quarantined" because Dennis just gives up at trying to recapture the moment and the show just moves on.

It was the title card gags that pushed this show over the edge for me, from funny to 'best sitcom' ever in my opinion. The final one is the best.
Rewatched the series to catch up and the titlecards dropping are such an underrated thing with how much funny stuff this show pumps out
