I've literally had employers passing me up for instructional design roles due to not having experience with Articulate Storyline. Thank you so much for creating this workshop! It is truly PPT with the ability to create non-linear learning experiences and uses a few other cool features. Like you say multiple times in your workshop, if you know how to use PPT, it's very easy to learn Storyline.
Thanks for watching! I’m glad the video was helpful. And yes, while some in our industry will try and claim that learning how to use an eLearning authoring tool, like Storyline, isn’t necessary to be successful in this industry…there’s no denying the fact that you see it listed on almost every ID job description.
I'm a member of Tim's eLearning Designer's Community, and I'm always impressed and thankful for how much great content Tim provides for free. Thank you, Tim!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!

After watching your video I have learnt what I need, in order to carry out what I need to do in just over an hour. Thank you Tim. Appreciate you brother.

Great beginners guide to Articulate, Tim. With years of experience in Captivate, this is really easy! Thanks.
Thanks for sharing and watching! And yes, if you've been using Captivate, you'll find Storyline a breath of fresh air!
Tim! This was so helpful! I start my ID job on Monday, and just wanted to get my feet wet. You answered all my questions about basics like markers, triggers, and inserting questions. I may have missed you talking about flowing from one scene to the next, but I was able to figure that out! While other channels are useful for the ideas and concepts behind ID, I love that your videos are so visual and interactive with teaching to use software.
Thanks, Beth! I appreciate it! I’ll be hosting additional sessions in the future about linking scenes and slides, so stay tuned!
You are amazing. Thank you.
Thanks!

Dear Tim, thank you so much for a thorough introduction to Articulate Storyline 360, you have have left no stone unturned for anybody who is curious about Articulate Storyline and the majority of it fundamental capabilities, the tutorial covers all the 'important' basics for anybody to get started with creating their first complete beginner project, I am looking forward to subsequent sessions on this subject, keep up the great work🙏🙏🙏
I appreciate it!
@@elearningacdmy You are welcome Tim;-)
Thanks a lot. I'm a beginner in learning designer and from Viet Nam. Your workshop is very easy to understand.
I'm so happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing!
This was so helpful! I wasn't sure which e-learning software to go with yet and this video drew a clear picture of how it works. Thanks for creating these videos. Btw, what microphone (the black one) do you use? It really looks cool but most importantly, the quality of your sound is crisp. I was hoping to use it for my classes. THANKS!
Glad you liked it! Regarding the mic, here's what I use: amzn.to/3SsYV3k
Thanks
Thank you
No…thank you! ☺️
This was so helpful! Thank you
You're so welcome!
dope dope dope thank you so much
Happy to help!
I had to watch this video like 3 times, but you're right. It's just like powerpoint! :D
Thanks again for watching!
Exceptional video. I did laugh with your creation of a question towards the end. Income can definitely affect your health.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial! Is there somewhere that we can download the same graphics/assets to follow along ourselves?
Thank you for this. What are you using for your screen share and ca,era? I like the side-by-side with rounded corners and drop shadow.
This is excellent--I've learned so much by watching. Thank you! One question I have is (and I need to look at your other vids--maybe you've covered it)--what do you think of Adobe Captivate?
I'm 90% sure that I'll be buying Articulate. It seems like it would suit my purposes (help me with the teaching I do and possibly transition into being an e-learning or training consultant); still, thought I'd ask about Captivate. This is the most commonly used e-learning software, isn't it?
I like how intuitive it looks. After watching, I feel like I could begin using it...now!
Thanks again!
Thanks for watching, Lisa! I’m glad you found it helpful. Regarding Captivate…I’m not a huge fan. While Captivate it cheaper than Storyline, many people (including myself) find it very hard and clumsy to learn and use. Articulate Storyline is for sure the more widely used tool in the market…that’s what I’d suggest. I hope that helps! 😊
@@elearningacdmy It does--thank you!
Avoid Captivate. To produce the same results as Storyline takes so much longer, and the results look the same or not as good.
Hi tim very good explanation. But where i can get graphics of this samples
Amazing video! Thank you so much! Just wondering how can I avoid my background images to become pixelated when I place them in Articulate? I'm using slide size 16:9 and I'm exporting my designs from Illustrator as PNG in the same size.
I would encourage you to increase the size of the images inside Illustrator first...and then export them with a high-resolution setting. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I can share a video to show you how I do it.
This video is so helpful! Can you tell me what size your slide is? My screen does not look like your screen!
Hey Annie! I'm using a 16:9 aspect ratio for my slide size. You can change it under the Design tab.
Can all the different browsers display the Storyline animations? Since PowerPoint is so similar to Storyline, then why not learn and use PowerPoint instead?
Great question! When you publish a course from Articulate Storyline, it all gets converted into HTML5 content...so if you're using any modern browser (not like and old version of Microsoft Explorer), the animations will be just fine! :)
Where are good places to find graphics for backgrounds and characters? Or do you need to create them from scratch?
Envato Elements and FreePik are my go-to.
Hi Tim, brand new to Articulate and so far loving your videos here. At 11:36 when you open up your slide, its in more of a PowerPoint size screen to work in. When I open mine up, its an almost perfect square. How do I resize my slide??
Glad you’re enjoying the videos! You can change the slide size just like you would in PowerPoint. Go to the Design tab, then click the option for Slide Size. The default is 4:3, which is what you’re seeing. I tend to always go with 16:9. Hope that helps!
@@elearningacdmy Ph my goodness. I looked everywhere but there it seems. Thank you so much for the reply!!
@@trainingmarks Happy to help!
Tim, Thanks for your reply on this.. You saved my hell number of hours...love from India..
so basically one could say:
if you know how to do something in powerpoint, you can also do it in storyline
Yep!
where can i download this application ? thanks
I want to create a trigger on my slide so that my first layer animates to the right and simultaneosuly second layer floats in from from top when the use presses the next button on first layer.
Will someone please help
Hey there! Thanks for posting. I'd have to see more of what you're doing to full understand and provide the best answer. If you can, I'd suggest sharing your project inside our Ask the Community space in our free community here: community.elearningacademy.io/c/advice/
I love your videos, I am in my career transition to ID and you have been my mentor. I am just wondering how did you do the waves for the template? in Power Point or AI? thank you
Thank you! I so appreciate the kind words! As for the waves, you can create those in PowerPoint. Check out this video to learn how: czcams.com/video/zm6zua2YET8/video.html
@@elearningacdmy Awesome, I just followed that video and I was able to create the wave shape. Thank you Tim.
Hi Tim, is there a way for multiple instructional designers to work on one course in parallel? It seems that this is not possible in Articulate, other than by sending the entire course file back and forth. Thanks in advance for your response.
Thanks for the questions! Unfortunately, the only way to collaborate on a Storyline project is as you described: passing the file back and forth. :(
@ingacdmy thanks, that makes Rise the better option for larger projects with multiple authors & collaborators. Luckily, Storyline elements can be integrated into Rise.
Hi Tim, I've downloaded articulate storyline but in this version I couldn't find Content Library 360 tab in it. 😞😞
If you go to the Insert tab at the top of the screen, you'll see a section for "Content Library 360," which will include options for inserting Characters, Photos, Icons, etc.. Let me know if you're still not able to find it!
@@elearningacdmy
There's not a single section for "Content Library 360". Here's only Insert tab which further opens into: Chracter, Pictures, Videos and audios.
Not with Content Library 360. May be it's because I'm not using a subscription of the software, (free trial) that's why?
@@iqrasaeedqureshi Hmmm. It may be that you're using the trial. I'd have to see what's on your screen. If you'd like, feel free to share a screenshot in my Ask the Community space and I can help you more here: community.elearningacademy.io/c/advice/
How is this different from say Canva or PPT?
Great question. Well, Canva is mostly a graphic design tool...and PowerPoint is a presentation tool. Neither of them lets you design interactive online courses, which you can publish to an LMS. With Storyline, you can design custom interactions, etc.
This was insanely useful information. Thank you for putting this together!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! ☺️
