I vastly prefer the DOS version of the soundtrack. Especially the resting song. Thank you for posting both with good midi devices so I could hear the difference.
The memory can still replay the tracks, but it's good to hear the Windows version I'm less familiar with. The PCs have long been scrapped, original game disks, who knows where. Somewhere, I still have a photocopy W7 manual and Wizardry Gold disk and materials, even Wizardry 8 in a box. The W8 soundtrack cd is actually the only thing in sight. Still, W7 DOS and W8 tracks are on phones and Steam/GOG (in 2021) are available. The thought of going back through even Gaurdia again with the old mechanics is not appealing. Back in the mid-90s, it felt a tick tedious and trying W1-5 would be torture.

My favorite part of this game is the soundtrack. They really capture the feeling of leveling up, and sleeping in the wilderness.
