Great tour Mark! I actually booked Apex on a Transatlantic in 2025. I've seen a few of the cruise vloggers gush over the Edge-class ships as well, so had to make the ship the destination for this trip. 🙂
Thank you for the tour. Hubby and I just cruised recently on the first of the Edge Class ships, the Celebrity Edge. they are beautiful ships. If I can offer a suggestion: speed up the video when walking corridors and malls; slow down and show sweeping/panning views of the various spaces that you breezed past. But I appreciate the tour, nonetheless!
We haven't yet and think it will be a while before we sail on Celebrity but love the ship and your coverage. Your post may have us sailing on it perhaps sooner than later. Thank you
It truly was a beautiful ship and one of our best overall cruise experiences. If you want slides, or rollercoasters, ropes courses or go karts, this isn’t the ship for you. If you just want a great ship, book it!
@@thecruiseworld Looking very forward to it! This is our first Celebrity Cruise, however we have been on 31 cruises all with Carnival, MSC (didn't care for it), NCL, Royal, and Virgin. We are hoping it's not too booshy!
This ship does not feature a promenade deck, however if you are looking for walking areas we really enjoyed the track as it offers great views as well as incline and decline from decks 15-16.
After sailing on Royal Caribbean's Wonder, Symphony, Harmony, Allure, & Freedom, Ascent appears to have a very closed in feel. Maybe it was just the way this tour was filmed🤷♂️?
Thanks for watching! Compared to Oasis and Icon, most ships feel closed in a bit, but we really enjoyed Ascent. She doesn’t have all the frills and thrills but she’s a beautiful ship. We filmed the tour the best way we could as a natural flow through the decks of you were walking through. It’s definitely not an Oasis class ship, but we love her!
Least favorite premium new build (actually no. 4 in the Edge series). By far prefer the HAL Pinnacle class and Princess ships like Royal Class. Upcoming Sphere class from Princess looks very promising. I actually prefer Celebrity but the Solstice, retired Century, and Horizon class version ships. Millennium class are good but not my favorite. These however, no. Chief reason, lacking in varied lounges with music and dance floors . Stacked vertical areas that make specialty dining in the Grand Plaza noisy at times plus no forward viewing public area for non-suite passengers besides the gym. Ship is pretty. Big deal, a lot of the new builds are as well. Likes, the 4 MDRs (though do they really need 4), deck areas for the most part, excellent theater, improved Cafe al Bacio, deck areas and bars. Neutral on magic carpet. Art is spectacular and very much in the spirit of Celebrity. Buffet looks extensive, well organized and is very attractive. Decor is trendy gray/beige/light blues and teals. While some areas have Celebrity's signature remake modernized art-deco inspired treatment much of it is more Miami resort style. I prefer Celebrity style as it is more identifiable as a Celebrity cruise ship. Martini Bar in Solstice vs. the one on the Ascent is a prime example. It needed to be bigger for sure. But now it's just a space in the lobby. Also, nothing is wrong with places like the Hideaway, card room, and several other areas Celebrity decided weren't worthy bringing into the Edge ships. HAL and Princess preserved their popular areas while adding new ones. Why didn't Celebrity? Bummed by these ships. Wish they had more than what seems like 15 specialty dining rooms and special places for suite pax at least the inside public areas. Eden? More acrobatics and maybe the interactive performer idea didn't pan out as planned. Read it can be disorganized and it is hard to see the show when it is on from many angles. As a hang out and watch the ocean venue, it works better and I heard the Cafe is really good when it is open.
Now that’s a thorough review! Thanks for sharing! This was our first Celebrity cruise and we loved it! You did make some very valid points and we are looking forward to cruising with HAL and Princess soon to make our own comparisons.
@@thecruiseworld Excellent and thanks for responding. I look forward to your impressions of HAL and Princess. I think HAL is comparable but the service style is different. I've mostly toured Princess ships and their service style is somewhat like Celebrity's but I thought British influenced at the time. They used to be owned by P&O so I don't know if that changed. HAL and Princess may have somewhat older guests onboard but that varies per itinerary and sailing time.
@@thecruiseworld btw, there are plenty more likes I have about the Edge ships. Theater, tech and it's utilized well in The Club with the games in the daytime, the Park West gallery area is posh and has cool seating areas, the passageways are bright and often wide, lovely stairways, the deck areas are extensive and the bar aft--maybe Sunset Bar--is really nice. I would love to expand the World Bar into its own lounge. It's swanky. Currently it's rather small. I also would love to turn I think it's the Fine Cuts Restaurant into a supper club with its own bar, small lounge area and small dance floor. It has wonderful ocean views, decor, and maybe Celeb could even make more money from it with liquor sales that way.
I have been on a lot of different ships, but I have to say that this is probably my favorite one! My first Celebrity, but definitely not my last!

Do the celebrity ships have a promenade deck, besides the jogging track?
This ship does not feature a promenade deck, however if you are looking for walking areas we really enjoyed the track as it offers great views as well as incline and decline from decks 15-16.
