That’s the exciting potential offered by bioprinting; a breakthrough which could herald a revolution in medical science and save tens of thousands of lives a year.
Back in the early 2000s, researchers realised that the key to meeting demand for donor organs may just lie with existing technology: an ordinary, off-the-shelf inkjet print (with a few moderations, of course). Since then, it’s become possible to print an organ constructed from a patient’s own organic material - essentially, one that’s genuinely theirs.

This, plus de-aging cells with partial yamanaka factors could be the key to extending life by decades- imagine getting an organ back, but one that is much healthier than it would have been, without the cellular damage that comes with age.

As suggested that it may take the whole of 2020 to have some feasible bio-printed organs, I woand nder if sudden growth in the AI field would shorten these expectations. Very interesting topic to think about. Great video as always!
