My mother is a soft person, she still smacked me around but only at a young age. Well till 13 exactly, I rebelled a bit but cooled down after a year.
At one point I realized my mother has gone easy on me compared to other families and I had it lucky, but videos like these remind me that even the “soft” parents in Latino, poc cultural still put children in their place.
At the minimum I showered on my own accord and did basic things like clean up a mess when told to (albeit like 30min- to 1 hour later cuz I was a lazy kid)

I work with families in home to provide therapeutic services to the kids and parents in the hopes of creating a new healthier dynamic....and let me tell you the power of putting a password on an Xbox and implementing a simple reward system is insane. Don’t argue with your kid, make the consequences clear and when the kid leaves the room take the charger or even the power cord to a device. You don’t have to fight for the phone, let it die without the charger, call the company and get it locked, or (my personal favorite) replace the phone with a 3g smart watch and the kid can then only make calls and texts with no access to apps but as a parent you can still reach them if needed. A lot of parents parent from guilt but children don’t recognize that and it turns into entitlement. As a parent it’s your job to set boundaries..let them throw the tantrum, but if consistent they’ll figure that the tantrum is a waste of time and energy and move on, it’s when the consequences aren’t consistent that the power struggle increases.
That would be called parenting, something alot of parents are not familiar with.

@@coffopin8846 That's the only good recommendation I've read so far honestly. Everyone's talking about stripping him of his addictions. It's an addiction, you can't do that without offering rehabilitation of some sort.
Behavioral hospitals even have video games and such. I've witnessed people addicted to several things that have been distraught but still functional because they were in a supportive environment; which this kid does not have.
If they chose to surrender him or file charges then he would have to leave. The mom is the one who needs the ranch everyone else needs therapy
Actually there are ways they can legally kick him out... They could ask to have him emancipated or just drop him off at CPS and not turn back...

Did the biggest eyeroll to that if he hadn't said it at the very end i would've stopped watching right then anyway. He really hates to be challenged which is understandable to an extent but ultimately he is interjecting his own opinion in peoples lives when he doesn't the know the full stories or thought processes involved maybe if he listened more he'd be able to give out more personalized and plausible advice

This kid went to my school since 2nd grade, the kids at our school noticed his behavior was off and weird. I remember in music class he threw a chair across the room (in 2nd grade) and told the teacher to stfu. Then a bunch of teachers, like 6, came in to take him to the office😗😗
