    Wow I must have different taste I'm really feeling this game, it's fun as hell. I thought the graphics looked nice for VR. I'm on the Pro so idk about regular PS4. I didn't have any issues with tracking & controls. It felt similar to Farpoint to me. I never got motion sickness before so I can't speak on that.

    This is a particularly fine point, but I just can't get over the complete lack of shadows on the characters. I realize that VR games take a graphical hit to keep up the framerate and sacrifices need to be made. But, in the desert setting with harsh sunlight, one is used to seeing shadows! It really does make the graphics look that much cheaper.

      Without Parole Games it's definitely a bit of a learning curve. Mind you I haven't got motion sickness from any VR game, that might add to the immersion and focus during gameplay mechanics that would be otherwise difficult if juggling a learning curve with headaches and nausea

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  Před 7 lety +1

      This is the first game to make me even remotely sick since Robinson or The Assembly. I played RE7 for 14 hours and Farpoint even longer without issue. It's literally been 6 months since a PSVR game has made me feel this way. The learning curve - for me - was unreasonable and there was no payoff for acclimating to the controls. There were plenty of examples Vertigo could have followed but they chose to reinvent the wheel, to their detriment.
      Again, I'm glad it worked for you. Your experience was obviously infinitely better than mine.

    @MikeCheckVR Před 4 lety +1

    I got the game for $10 and found it to be worth it. It was fun but being a trophy hunter (casually and for games I enjoy) the apocalypse game mode was insane. Even the developers themselves said they only tested the first level and "cheated" the rest of the game. You will find yourself in situations where you have more zombies than bullets and the ZERO use of melee weapons means you'll have to die and start again. Frustrating. Main campaign on normal / easy was very enjoyable. I give it a 6/10.

While I do agree Brookehaven is a much more polished game the problem is that Brookehaven has no Multiplayer :( 4 player matches in Arizona are actually quite fun, something Farpoint is desperately needing. I would recommend people pickup Arizona once the DLC is added. For some Messed up reason they didnt include the DLC that the PC version has. Which is a really nice "Undead" 4 player Map with a large house to around and defend in for 4 player Horde mode.

I don't mind teleporting as there is plenty of cool game action each step of the way. Now, while I love Brookhaven, there is so much more to this game in terms of puzzle strategy and ammo\weapon collecting. I play on ps4 pro, and mine looks great. Tough question. Arizona Sunshine didn't even hold its own at launch. But it's not bad and Vertigo/Jaywalkers has improved the game significantly and added better horde maps. Plus there's a bit of DLC to prolong the single player campaign. So if you're interested, make sure you grab it on sale (frequently discounted down to $15 or so) because $40 is way, way too much.

I like how's it's somewhat of an open map to explore, there's still kind of a path to follow, but you're free to roam within the path, scavenging for weapons and ammo etc. Wouldn't pay full price for it, but being that I've only played a couple hours, I don't know how long the game is or if it's gets better or worse, so far I enjoy it though.

  • @POOKISTAN

    As of right now the game has been on the PSN Store for several hours and is still $40, despite it saying in the description of the game itself "Order Arizona Sunshine week one to receive: • 10% Discount" amongst other things - Not only that, but the discount was outlined awhile ago on the PlayStation Blog, which pretty much makes the current price false advertising.
    Now, I don't know whether this is the fault of Sony, the devs, or both, but something tells me this is intentional to milk extra money from impatient consumers. That said, I can sympathize with people not caring if they have to pay an extra $4 to get a game a bit early (it doesn't matter to me as I work in about an hour as of when I'm writing this, so I wouldn't have gotten a chance to truly enjoy it if I'd bought it now anyways), but you gotta' understand how bad, overall, rewarding this kind of behavior from Sony, and/or the devs regarding the pricing - It's not only rewarding unethical/dishonest behavior, but also encouraging them to do this kind of thing in the future, and I think that's pretty scummy for Sony and/or the devs to participate in, though we may never know who really is the one who decided to do it.
    That said, if they retro-actively fund money back to PSN accounts, color me amazed and disregard everything I've said, but knowing Sony's stance on giving refunds I find this HIGHLY unlikely - Beyond that, it's a bit unfair to those who used a credit card to purchase it, since now they'll have a few extra dollars on PSN, as opposed to money in their bank account (still, if they DO retroactively refund the money, even with PSN credit, that'll be pretty amazing).
    Kind of disappointing seeing them play it like this right off the bat - I hope they do the right thing and give the 10% back to the consumers, rather than pocketing the money, but I have a feeling that won't happen...

    • @POOKISTAN
      @POOKISTAN Před 7 lety

      As of now I have $50 on my PSN account that I'd intended on buying Arizona Sunshine with. This review, combined with what I mentioned in the original Comment, have made me come to the decision that I'm gonna' skip this altogether and consider the possibility of getting it if/when a sale happens, and to what degree it's discounted. And, in all honesty, it was the shady shit that surrounded the release that was more influential in this decision than any review I saw.
      If anyone gets $4 refunded to their PSN account who bought it at full price, despite them telling people they'd get 10% off at launch, please reply to this Comment to let me know - I'll change my tune if/when they decide to do this, but as far as I'm concerned, this was a con-job release. To any given individual $4 doesn't seem like much, but when the suits are kicking back looking at how much more revenue they got for lying to you and I and releasing it before reviews could go live, they got a significant amount of cash that they wouldn't have gotten if they were being honest...

    This will be the last time I buy an expensive psvr game due to hype, bought this is and Ancient Amuletor today costing me $70 AU, I knew what I was getting from Ancient and I am fine with spending $20, this game though seems as you said extremely unpolished for a game that costs near a full retail game.
    I've read that there is a patch coming out soon for it, I'm getting pretty tired though of games in general needing day one patches and or another couple to actually fix games so that they are in a playable state. Developers need to delay games a few weeks even a month or so until they are ready to go, Starblood Arena is a perfect example of this, matchmaking was broken for weeks thankfully I managed to get a refund on that game though.

  • @yourgrandmashouse1970
    @yourgrandmashouse1970 Před 7 lety

    Although I appreciate your honesty as a reviewer, you're just giving more fuel to the haters and that's not a good thing. Because of videos like this people aren't going to buy the game,and that's gonna be a detriment towards the improvement vr in general. This game was most definitely not designed specifically for the aim controller in mind. I used move controllers and had a great time, the main voice actor is a bit of a ham but it's fine.
    I wasn't going in expecting amazing graphics either so I wasn't disappointed. I guess we'll just wait for the patch to come out and see how people feel about it.

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  Před 7 lety +1

      So your solution is what? It's the developer's responsibility to make good games and it's my responsibility to be honest when writing my reviews. But based on your logic, I should compromise my ethics because we got a crappy game? I'm glad you're enjoying Arizona Sunshine, but it's hard to deny that it has major problems.

    • @yourgrandmashouse1970
      @yourgrandmashouse1970 Před 7 lety

      It's not a crappy game, but then again taste is subjective. I know for a fact most people who used the aim controller felt it wasn't working right. Poor controls take the player out of the experience. That I could see screwing impressions of this game. The devs missed the mark with the aim gun, but with move controllers the game is great and immersive. Hopefully they fix the issues with patches, as it stands there's more hate over this game than enjoyment..
      I'm not here to dictate who does what with their content, simply expressing a personal opinion. Haters stunt the growth of industry by turning new people away from the platform. It's been that way since entertainment evolved into film.

    • @yourgrandmashouse1970
      @yourgrandmashouse1970 Před 7 lety

      However I will totally agree with you that it's overpriced ,should be $20-$25 game at the most. If it had all the pc content it would be worth the asking price to me.

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  Před 7 lety +1

      Sorry, "crappy" was a poor choice of words.
      Hopefully you know that I'm not a VR hater and no one wants PSVR to succeed more than me. But that will never influence how I write my reviews. I'd like to think that I'm encouraging the growth of our niche market, spreading the PSVR love, and letting people know how amazing VR can be. And when Vertigo Games patches Arizona Sunshine, I'll be there making videos - screaming from the rooftops about all the improvements. Just like I did with Special Delivery. Just like I did with Leave the Nest. :D

    • @yourgrandmashouse1970
      @yourgrandmashouse1970 Před 7 lety

      We definitely need more players using vr, playing startrek bridge crew cross platform is a beautiful thing. We need more community with vr since it's in the early stages. We all want VR to pull a DVD and turn into a must own technology. I remember VHS tapes slowly being phased out for dvd. People said it was a gimmick like laser disk and too expensive, now you're lucky to find VHS tapes outside of yard sales. Although just for fun I'd like to watch that stranger things VHS they made for fans.

    Why did they say it is so good on PC? Is it so different on PSVR? Or are the quality standards higher on PSVR? And are we just spoiled with games like Rush of Blood and Resident Evil. Good review anyway I will skip this one.

    • @Tekka87
      @Tekka87 Před 7 lety

      Yes it is completely different on PC. PC VR has 360/roomscale, so no quick turn necessary. And the better motion controls allow for hand interactions like dual wielding, manual reloading, throwing grenades, etc. which is completely bypassed by using the PSVR Aim, removing a lot of the intensity and fun. Also the graphics are just better on PC, looking at this video, everything looks a lot worse than it was when I played through on Vive.
      Some of the review points are true for all versions of the game though, like the lack of enough zombie character models. Interesting motion sickness was brought up, in VR I played through using teleport, is there no option for this on PSVR?? Artificial camera rotation is just terrible in VR, they should of stuck to just strafing, but i can see how that could be a technical issue with PSVRs tracking.

    • @DutchSamurai83
      @DutchSamurai83 Před 7 lety +2

      Tekka87 Thanks for the info. To bad it sucks on PSVR. They did a good job porting Brookhaven to PSVR so it is possible. I think the developers from Arizona Sunshine just did a lazy job porting this to PSVR.
