- Floating above the landscape is the best modernist home. Desert Palisades by Woods + Dangaran is a family home that was built from a goal to introduce a more international style of modernism to the desert. Though focused on creating a desert oasis home in which the family could escape to and decompress, the architects have also paid homage to the mountain and enabled the owners to experience its form completely. In line with the basin of the San Jacinto Mountain, the home encompasses views across Palm Springs and the surrounding rocky landscape that further encourages the owners to not only appreciate it but to connect with it.
Approaching the desert oasis home as if it is a beacon on the hillside, the house tour unfolds in a natural procession, guiding viewers past the pool area and then into the pavilions that showcase the home’s sweeping views. Recognising the presence that the structure holds, Woods + Dangaran worked with a responsibility to make sure the best modernist home feels timeless and fits into the desert landscape. From its base, the architecture of the house is made up of a concrete masonry unit, while the support walls and ends of the pavilion are created with burnished CMU blocks that appear to come from the soil. Additionally, understanding the conditions of the desert environment, Woods + Dangaran have clad the exterior of home in brass, which has the least amount of expansion in the heat and will also weather naturally and patina over time.
Repeatedly used in the interior design of the home, plaster provides depth and warmth to the home as well as a textural quality that speaks to the natural Palm Springs landscape. Travertine then reemphasises the timeless quality of the best modernist home while earth tones of greens and browns continue the dialogue between the rocks of the property and the man-made environment. The inclusion of expansive glass in the architecture of the best modernist home allows for a clear view of the Palm Springs landscape.
Through a fine curation of lighting, material and colour, Woods + Dangaran has created a conversation between the rugged outdoor area and the interior design to help the home become part of the desert oasis. Additionally, across the western point of the best modernist home, sliders allow the owners to feel as if they are camping in their own home. The master suite is finished with sliding doors that open to a large rock that can easily be stepped on to, adding a deeper layer to the connection between home and nature. Almost disappearing into the landscape, Desert Palisades offers an ease of living where the architecture, interior design and land come together to offer its owners a place where they can relax.

Y’all don’t just showcase beautiful homes… y’all make cinematic experiences that elevate the sense of viewing almost to the point as if one is physically experiencing the home. Beautiful execution in your quality!
Thank you! We're glad you're enjoying our channel.
....The colorful sentiment is well expressed and mutually agreed!
The landscape is so rugged and beautiful you'd think the home was in the middle of a vast wilderness, the home itself sits so perfectly in this harsh looking setting, its the perfect modern sanctuary! ♥
We couldn't agree more!
Obsessed with the Local Project’s quality and commitment to delivering such great projects along with their stories. All design and architecture projects include phases, each phase makes up the storyline. It’s so meaningful ❤
Thanks so much!
I like the almost aged, patina texture on that exterior metal. It suits the dessert landscape well.
MMM love - I'm a So Cal girl so I appreciate this so much. There's something just so special about the desert days and nights.
Love the whip cracking sound effects, so fun
This home feels so calm. Great place to decompress.
It never gets old listening to architects/designers describing the most mundane of things. Their ability to insert levels grandiosity and overall sense of pretentiousness is unmatched amongst professions. Kudos to you, architect folks!😂😂😂
My thoughts exactly.
I also wonder if there is "a conversation between the legs of the inhabitants of the home, and the local rattlesnakes"
Anyhow, nice house.
Careful, I think irony is not in the architect's vocab. The problem lies in layering pretentiousness onto the truly beautiful like this building. It certainly is an uncanny ability - to induce a vomit reaction when presenting something that is actually superb.
Eye catching ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Feels like a comfortable peaceful home
the brass is genius
Beautiful! Structure and landscaping really tuned in to the surroundings.
Don't know if someone is reading this, but if you are: You are amazing and beautiful! I believe in you!
I love how well the architecture compliments the desert environment.
Best spec home I've seen featured on this channel.
Love those sound effects (eagle, whip) out of the confort zone of Local Project till now 🤩 give some playfull work
Love the brass and travertine. Actually I love all of the design, quite beautiful ✨
I saw this land when it was first released for development, and thought what a beautiful location, and it looks amazing now. Would love to live there, I live in the area now but the view is amazing. Thanks!
My favorite house!
I love this house so much
Dystopian as fuck, this is like a cyberpunk elite home in the hot ass desert
Stunning. The home. The views. The film. Love it all.
My favorite one till now!❤
Well, this is a dream house. Can’t imagine how serene life would be in a home like this. It’d be like living in a Denis Villeneuve film.
An architectural masterpiece.
I fell in love with Palm Springs. I went there during COVID and it’s so peaceful.❤
Beautiful, arresting..stunning home.
Beautiful home with such a peaceful feel. It does feel like a retreat. I love the materials used because they will just age and develop a loverly patina. Great design with loverly expansive views. Really quite nice.
Среди гор камней возник современный красивый дом с хорошим дизайном прекрасная работа архитектора спасибо
Absolutely love this shipping container house
I don't know about "Best Modernist Home" but it sure is interesting
Woosh!
Your videographer is a 10 out of 10
This place is stunning! ❤
Absolutely stunning property ❤️ thank you for sharing. 🌵🏜️ very classy , calm & inspiring.
As always great storytelling. I do love your houses from Australia more, though. I follow you since the beginning and you helped me understand so well how architects and interiors work in Australia and for me is so fascinating. Well done with your channel, i so enjoy it. 😊
Wow...just, wow.
Nice home and smart explanation of all. I love it. 👍👍👍
This is refreshing
I liked the lil whip noise ya'll added in to the hallway cross
Stunning 🤩
when will beige ever end?
Curb appeal cactus is a great safety feature. 😂
Gorgeous ❤
love this home, but side-note: at 4:46 the soundtrack sounds v pwettyyyyyy
may I ask who did the soundtrack for this video ?
Beautifully told - lovely result
masterpiece!
😮❤
Also, what an interesting landscape. 🤔
Beautiful home. I still can’t get past why anyone would want to live in the desert though. Defies comprehension.
Desert is soooo beautiful, even if it is a harsh place to live. Amazing sunsets, unique microbiomes, flowers, cacti. Living in an inhospitable place makes life a thrill
I spent 40 years in Vegas. Then moved to Laguna for 4 yrs and now I’m in Houston. I thought I was prepared for heat but this is another animal. The dry desert while harsh, is somehow more tolerable. That said I’d rather be beachside any day haha.
As a coastal person throughout my life , I have been mesmerized by the desert and I have a place a few miles from this masterpiece. The air, the mountains, the colors of land and sky are incredible here. The intense dry heat is somehow like a warm hug to me. Come visit, you may find it captivates you as well!
@@fosterapp I grew up in the desert. As soon as I experienced forest mountain air, I knew where I had to be, and it wasn’t in a hot, dusty hellhole.
@@chronic_daydreamer I respect your preferences, and also appreciate the crisp fresh mountain air! Enjoy
At about the 5:30 mark there’s the stated desire to make the home almost disappear and go away. Yet with so many right angles, the home seems to be in conflict with its environment. Materials and color pallets are important but the shapes are what are critical.
amazing

Im interested as to why huge eaves would not be a vital feature on a place with such extreme sun/heat. Surely all the furniture would be bleached and AC would cost a fortune with all that direct sunlight blazing in through the windows every day.
The house looks awesome!!!
That said I am not sure if someone can survive in there without air-conditioning.
Absolutely stunning. But like you, I wonder how practical this structure is. Brass is big conductor of heat.
Pure
Literally, this is the goal. A small, comfortable, high quality, long lasting, and one that blends into its desert surroundings. My only question is how the heck do ppl get the utilities that far up if they are not already existing. Must be insanely expensive if not already there with the purchase of the land?
I was thinking the exact same thing
The amount of glass and other high end materials used in this build suggest that the clients don't really have any financial constraints.
that's probably why the house is sitting so close to the road...usually have to pay x amount per x number of feet off the main service line at the road for water/electric/sewage.
Only appealing thing about the desert for me would be the silence. The views are not great. Being that close to the city, wouldn't be very silent anyways.
Inside the Best Modernist Home Located in the Palm Springs Desert (House Tour) 🤎🤍
✨💛✨
Lower Chino Canyon gets a lot of creepers. Always wondered if these upper homes had to deal with them on the regular.
Great house but missing the Palm Springs - chutzpah 🎉
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful materials, and some like the ply kitchen cabinets aren’t expensive either (the hardware looks $$$ though)
🥰🥰🥰
For American architect it’s good. Some moves are not perfect but materials are good
Strange how few of these desert homes don't have solar panels all over the roof. A raised roof 1/2 a foot off the roof with big eves. Would still get winter sun and keep it cool in midday sun.
Are you concerned about the other builds around you in the future changing the feel of your isolation?
"... it allows for the glass to be more clear", just once I'd like to see one of these beautiful projects consider local wildlife and specify bird-safe glass.
I watch this channel a lot and I love how all the shots are cinematic but at the same time it’s really hard to understand the space that you’re showing with this much not connected cuts
dune vibes
sixandahalfminutes to showcase your filming skills, your editing skills, the landscape... but where did I miss such fundamental things as the layout of the rooms?
Agree. Especially as this is titled: "Inside the Best Modernist Home...", I am left with little sense of the interior or layout. Misleading and disappointing in spite of the landscape shots.
"Saan Yacento" ...SMH
The best modernist home in Palm Springs? Quite a claim you're making. If this was filmed in Nebraska I would say it's 100% true
Same cubical design, different color
I feel like every video you put out.. you show less and less of the house. 6 min video and I know what two rooms look like, might as well just be a podcast without showing the house.
This video title is very misleading.
I'm certain that I'm not the only one who would prefer not to live in this house. There's more, much more...to life than a "nice view".
Absolutely beautiful building. But the video is aching for an alternative soundtrack stripped of the truly awful wankery words monologue. I think this one tops the pile (steaming pile) of over the top architect word dribble. Too harsh? Have you listened to it?
Looks like a shipping container from ikea
😂😂😂
This is a ridiculous real estate video. Why do I have to look at non-stop closeups of rocks and sand?
I wouldn’t not live there even if paid. So much concrete, so unecological in such desertic environment! Architectural contradictions at its best!
how is concrete not suited for a desert?
@@willcox2300 the amount of glass wall exposed to light is the issue in my eyes. And concrete is nowhere suitable as producing an extreme a

It looks awesome...but as a long time resident of Palm Springs, I can feel the heat, dusty wind. This house seems to be just dilutional.
