While addressing a rally in Daman and Diu amid Lok Sabha polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised to renovate Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas with gold. He accused Congress of declining the invitation to Pran Pratishtha of Ram Temple because of being ‘afraid of losing their vote bank’.

Visit Somenath and you will struggle to find where the original temple is -- the whole area is ruthlessly barricated, the original temple lies in a corner, the new temple stands imposingly, people with contact can take there cars inside the complex, you have to deposit all your belongings incl the mobile and I u destand there is a guest house for vvip. The landscape has been drastically modified, the sea view has gone.
Atleast it's preserved..se r happy for temple which has been razed to ground 18 times...u can't expect it to be like 1st one
