Is A TRACTOR and BOX BLADE Enough To Fix A THIS?

- Our tractor has a hydraulic top link which makes work with a box blade very manageable. Often times the rain and bad weather will wash out our gravel driveway and without a land plane we need to use our Ironcraft box blade to level out the years of abuse and neglect when water washes the gravel away. Also, the crown on the driveway was never built right so that makes the gravel driveway repair more challenging. In this video, I replaced a dead battery on the kioti rx7320 tractor so that I could use the box blade. Also, there are some good tips on some things to do when changing the battery! The gravel driveway repair looks good, but it is clear that the box blade is no longer the right tool for the job. It may be time to invest in a land plane so that we can make this job a bit easier.

I’ve never used a box blade. My dad bought me a jbar land plane right before the pandemic. It has been great so far. If you tried it out, I think you would really like it.

Yes JOE THE FARMER you definitely need a load of possibly clay gravel
to build up your road bed then come on top of that with straight gravel. Once the clay gravel is down a good gravel truck driver can spread your gravel and then your done only needing to keep it maintained as needed but never let the driveway get to far gone before going over it with a lane plane . Excellent video JOE THE FARMER. Please keep them coming because the weather is getting warmer going south so to speak.

Good job on the driveway, yeah you might want to buy more gravel. I did my driveway last spring it took 6 trucks of gravel. Money well spent. You have a beautiful ranch , good for you and your family.

I have a pretty steep side yard gravel driveway that has the same issues you're dealing with. We have a box blade also, but the more I see people using land planes the more I want one.
I need to get a decent crown and some ditches on mine, and adding a new layer of larger gravel wouldn't hurt either.

Great Video Joe! I don’t have a box blade, but for our gravel roads on our property, I use a 6 foot jbar land plane. All I have to do is level it on flat concrete and then just drop it and it works great.

I really like the power rake .. I picked up one from a local auction.. It works really well!!
Went with the match and seems go have enough cca to get it going. What was crazy is how sluggish the power shuttle was with the dead battery. But makes sense I guess! Hope all is well buddy!!!

If you don’t have a hydraulic top link,…that struggle will stay real 😂. I don’t know your knowledge of them,…but if you learn about the tilt angles forward and backwards, then you will be the man in your neighborhood. It took me a couple of rentals and figured it out. I rented the tractor to move dirt and learned that if it’s tilted forward, then it’ll move dirt. It’ll it’s tilted backward, then it’ll spread it. Just thought I’d share if you didn’t know.
