Here’s advice from the paramedic to a fire fighter, use a neck brace on him before you pul him out. Otherwise you would injure its neck.

Dude, he's in a building, the building is on fire, it's impossible to see anything through the smoke, and the firefighter might not even be breathing. Injuring his neck is probably the least of his concerns in this situation.

in an idlh environment, priority is removal. you’re not going to see a ric running around with backboards and neck braces.
