Theater Talk: “Dear Evan Hansen” Creatives, Part 1

“Dear Evan Hansen” composer-lyricists Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, and librettist Steven Levenson join co-host Susan Haskins and guest co-host Jesse Green of The New York Times around Theater Talk's grand piano to discuss and perform key songs from their hit musical, including “Waving Through A Window,” “So Big/So Small” and “You Will Be Found."

Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.

I loved how they clarified that during the writing of the show the turning point was when they started to empathize with people who feel so broken to want to feel a part. Its like how the audience feels when they see the show. Dear Evan Hansen so clearly portrays human, that even though Evan is doing something wrong we all can empathize with the feeling of wanting to be a part. Beautiful so happy to learn more about the show.
