    It goes to show that you can't hurry to do this. You need to take your time and make sure every step is done correctly. I am sure that bike will be a blast to ride once the ECM has mapped itself. Great video. Again, I think you need to do some instruction videos, you are a really great teacher. :) Ride safe.

      Very true! I have an issue of taking too much time... Lol I take her for a ride in the next video, and I'm impressed. Been thinking of doing some videos like that on the other channel, where I can take my time and not have to build the video that night like this daily vlog...

    I don't have a Himalayan but I can't tell you how much I appreciate your knowledge and real world advice Shawn. I've done my own maintenance on cars and motorcycles for years, but I always learn something new watching your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge sir!

    How do you manage to make a mountain out of a molehill. Glad you manage to wake up from your nap. Lol. I think you need to swallow a couple of chill pills and relax. 60 degrees and cloudless. I must be in Heaven. Stay safe hopefully it dries some in the PNW 👍🏽😎

      As an old service manager used to tell me, I spend too much time polishing an engine job instead of just slamming it together..! Lol Can't help myself, I want to get it done correctly the first time. That and age have slowed me way down over time.
      Was 61ºF today, but but complete overcast skies...

      Way too manys videos showing the easiest part of timing the cam for me to spend time repeating the same thing. Now the cam chain balling up on the crank sprocket would have been cool to show, but I'd have to the left side of the motor off to be able to record it..! Lol 😂

    Hi, when you drop the chain, can it mess up the timing when you put it back on the sprocket? Same thing just happened to me and the bike wont start.

      Yes you can... You need to verify that the crank is on the TDC mark and the cam is correctly aligned. Unfortunately you have to take everything apart again to check it all. If it is off, pray you didn't bend a valve when turning the engine over..! Best of luck!

      One more question before I tackle that again, if I may? Ifon my first attempt I put the sprocket and chain back on incorrectly, and spun the crank around a number of times, and the valves aren't bent, will I be able to set the crank shaft again to TDC and get the valves to be in the closed position when i put the sprocket and chain back?

      @@patrickobrien2068 Make sure the engine is on TDC on the compression stroke (when the piston comes back up to TDC just after the intake valve closes) and the flywheel timing mark is aligned with mag cover mark. If the sealant isn't holding it too tight, try removing the the cam cover (left side of the rocker cover held by one bolt). With the engine at TDC Compression, you should see the markings on the end of the cam indicating "Top". If this is aligned, your cam timing is close. I say close because this isn't the actual cam timing mark, just an indicator of what direction the cam should be facing when reinstalling it. If you can't get the little inspection cover off, you'll have to pull the head cover off and do the full and accurate cam timing check.
      Does the engine turn over quickly, almost like the spark plug is out? If so, you may have bent a valve. You can check the valve clearances and see if one is excessively loose, as that's a sign of a bent valve. If you didn't check the valve clearances after the cam install, you could simply have too little clearance, causing low compression..! You cam download the cam replacement portion of the factory manual from Hitchcock's web page for the Kent Cam for the Himalayan that takes you step-by-step.
      Before going too crazy checking the cam, make sure to check the basics: Do you hear the fuel pump cycle when you switch the key on? You may have a bad connection at the pump on the tank. Are there any sensor(s) that were disconnected during the procedure that may have not been reconnected? Take a deep breath and slowly go over everything... I wish you the best of luck!! 🤞
