This episode features one of the most crackpot ideas ever. Let's go nuts with it!
+WoodenPotatoes dont smoking its bad for you, mkay?
+WoodenPotatoes when will you talk more about reshade?
+WoodenPotatoes The thing with the druids in GW1. When a norn becomes a champion of Jormag they take on a form that looks like an oakheart, which is what the druid spirits resemble. My theory is that the druids themselves had become corrupted by Mordremoth while he slept. Of course, there's no guarantee that anet put that much thought into the design of it. It's always hard to tell which things they do that were planned and which ones just come together that way after the fact.
+WoodenPotatoes Isn't the central Orb in the Eternal alchemy vision Golden? If all the other Orbs correspond to an Elder Dragon then perhaps this one does too?
And since this one is in the middle maybe it needs/consumes not one school of magic but all of them -and if we kill all the other dragons then all those magics will be released resulting in this golden elder dragon awakening (perhaps that's why they say the other dragons are necessary to keep the world in balance (without them this central badass one will awaken)
+WoodenPotatoes you can download the GW Prophecies Manual, which contains the manuscripts you're referencing, from the GW homepage:
ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/downloads/gwp-manual.pdf
I still hear Caladbolg as "Salad Bowl". Seems appropriate.
@12:52... It's just a theory... A GAME THEORY.... sorry, couldn't resist haha. Love he idea though.
+Psyciandra Actually combination episode with WP and GT could be quite fun.
+Mateusz Lackowski heck yes :D
Maybe as commander of the Pact, we could claim a part of the cleansed sea in Orr. And set up an asuran rig. That we'd call Mother Tree Base. And from there we'd launch attacks on dragons, recover troops in the field by pushing them in portals, and recruit a sexy Largos assassin that we have to look at when she takes showers to survive, because of reasons. Guild Wars II : Tactical Espionnage Operation.
that wouldn't work at all
Betapolarwolf WELL IT JUST SOLD THOUSANDS OF COPIES MR I-KNOW-BETTER ! >:|
This comment gotta sound very weird for those who doesn't get the reference hahah, great one!
+This is Caboose "Sir we found something in the jungle. A weapon to surpass the dragons."
I think if any dragon will absorb the energy released by the death of Modremoth, it will be the one that hatches from Glint's egg that Caithe stole.
Whatever it is that you're taking to come up with these ideas, don't stop consuming it! These are so mind-bendingly good that I wish Anet would maybe use a touch of it in their story.
i like to think that anet is watching all of this thinking "ow damn THAT would've been a great idea!"
+Alex J. Right? I got that feeling during the last POI. Where they explained the name origin for Scrapper.
+Guardian Demon That was online on a german translation before WP's video.
That idea of Mordremoth cloning Zhaitan is a really interesting one! I wonder how 'complete' the bodies Mordremoth uses to clone would have to be though, as we know Zhaitan's tail is in the Priory but maybe he doesn't need that? I'd love to see that, though, it's so dark.
And now the Factions theme right at the beginning of this one.
WP, WHYYYY? All my feels.
Potatoes: "Mordremoth flees to Orr and changes it and makes it totally revamped and amazing"
Don't get my hopes up!
You get the most interesting comments to these videos you really get ppl thinking! It's so fun no matter how crazy the theories get ❤️
heheh I love your theories! They could actually work! I love crazy lore ideas! The crazier the better! I want the story to end with something totally nuts that not many people actually saw coming. I want it to be kind of mind blowing and leave people going - WHAT!? WHOA! (but in a good way lol).
I love these. These episodes are the reason I got back into the game. Good to know what you are playing when you don't want to read six thousand pages all put in random areas! Also since I played GW1 for about 1 hour... After watching your much older videos... You should work for them. You basically called it all. Also I kind of figured that the plants were off. All had history but they are new births.. Primordeos or whatever is going to be the strongest dragon. After watching history videos. It will be it.
The theories for this episode are great. As you speaking I was making the connections in my mind and was blown away.
Braham reaching his hands up to the sky MORDREMOTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Daniel Rubin Dinkleberg......
The pyrite area is my most memorable location in Orr. The style clearly alters so well to differ it from the rest of the surrounds.
I check your channel everyday for videos. news is great, but this stuff is gold. its fun to listen to you just 'go' and its very awesome content you create!
+WoodenPotatoes WHAT IF Its completely unlikely but it would be a interesting plot device and twist if Trahearne was actually Mordremoth's champion from the first time you met him. He's been playing Tyria, gathering their forces to become the pact leader. His soul intention to kill Zhaitan was to make his master strong by pouring that magic back into Tyria. So, feeding this magic to Mordremoth, getting stronger and now ready to lure the pact fleet into his domain, destroying any resistance left over. Trahearne's been playing us all from the start! This is all so unlikely, but c'mon WHAT IF, that would be insane.
The opening music
Damn the Orr-Zaithan-Copy-Thing Idea would be so great!
All your theories and speculations excite the heck out of me! But l don't have faith Anet will deliver something so compelling.
I think your point on Eir is on spot. In their recent short video about their Voice Overs, the actor that plays Eir appears in the series of interviews. I doubt they have taken her back and even featured her in that video if Eir is not going to have some substantial portion of dialogue through the expansion. Thus, I doubt that she is dead or that she is going to die immediately after we find her in the jungle.
that tin hat right there at the end!! twas amazing thought!!!
'Guild Wars 2 - Crackpot Theories' would be a suitable title for this kind of video series.
It is worth mentioning that it is possible Lazarus the Dire, possibly last remaining Mursaat, may be involved in HoT,as they kind of partially mentioned he might make an appearance in GW2.Just a good note worth investigating
These episodes are the best! I love it, though it's just random bits, it's still very entertaining and interesting!
I sometimes want there to be 10 Woodenpotatoes. so we have new videos about Lore/news/random-other-stuff everyday. each and every video is great and i always have a good time watching them. Keep up the good work.
Rytlock (or smodur) could just ask Queen Jennah to help. That would basically cement the treaty for good. she's a descendant of Salma who is descended from Doric. I would imagine it would ease the tensions between him and Logan, since if she ends the foefire, Logan leaving to save her would seem justified
Your videos never cease to blow my mind
From the GW1 Book 1: Lore of Guild Wars.
King Adelbern.
Descended from the great King Doric, King Adelbern is well-liked by the citizens of Ascalon.
The clears up whether Rurik is a descendant of Doric and so yes his channeled spirit could end the Foefire (if it works like that).
These elite spec ideas ate amazing, i really hope theyre close to being true. Nice little circle for druid and the D-hunter
About the "true king of Ascalon": I'd say Rurik has a solid chance, since he acted most like a real king. He led his people out of Ascalon to Kryta, being killed in the Shiverpeaks along the way. It's because of him, largely, that any Ascalonians survived at all. Also, going back to some speculation from LONG ago, I wouldn't give up on the theory that Duke Barradin could be the "true king" needed for the ritual. His stepping down was done in compliance with the desires of the people.
About Zhaitan: I'd love to see him come back one last time.
Man i love such videos. Makes the gw2 world feel much deeper. Keep'em coming! =D
Some really cool theories there.
All that spare magic floating around after Zhaitan's death would be useful suckling for the new baby dragon that hatches from Glints egg.... which is presently being "protected" by a Sylvari, aka Caithe, aka loyal minion of the jungle dragon ???
Or perhaps Uncle Mordremoth would soften his attitude the world with a shiny new nephew/niece to dote over..
It was very noticeable to me that the gold areas in your game are far far less gold than in the traditional gw2 setups. The mods you use graphically seem to have killed off most of the shiny to the point where it doesn't look gold at all almost.
That being said, another really interesting lore feature. I really hope you continue to do these. Love em!
I seriously love every single video from you WP!! Keep it up!
You should do some more random lore videos, they're quite fun!
Lord Faren is a descendant of a sibling of Rurik and will cleanse the foefire xD
I can of like the idea of a mad land grab for Orr and with all the major powers tied up in the fight in the jungle so it's mainly individuals and organizations grabbing and claiming land like the gold rush.
Dude... That theory though, mind = blown
Hit me with more of this !!
To continue on Jonas R. E.'s comment also at the bottom of the GW1 manuscript for King Adelbern, in the 3rd paragraph there is a sentence that states, "Making matters worse, Prince Rurik, the king's eldest son and heir to the throne....". If this is the case then perhaps Aldelbern's father or grandfather was a cousin of King Doric and moved to Ascalon from Orr when Barradin's uncle or grandfather was king of Ascalon before Adelbern was born in Drascir. Just a thought I had. Oh my, if that's the case then Rurik was engaged to marry Althea his what 2nd, 3rd cousin onced removed?
i love the way you think and talk about Lore :D
Eir will be in HoT, cause they had a recent video of HoT with all the main voiceactors, which including Eir's voiceactor.
What if the Elder Dragon that rises up to take over orr after modremoth, is bubbles, the deep sea dragon. At the end of HOT, if modremoth dies, bubbles takes the magic, becomes know, and attacks Lions Arch, like in the concept art showing the hydra, and then takes over Orr and Fort Trinity, gathering Modreys magic, and Zhaitians.
Do you remember the artifact that the durman priory was transporting at Timberline Falls ? , they suddenly were attacked by mordremorth's vines and had troubles carrying it , the priory member said that the artifact show's the face of the true heir to the throne of kryta , i'm still intrigued if this artifact show's queen Jennah's face , i don't know if there is mention of this artifact in GW1.
By the way love your videos keep the hard work xD
Hi WP, the zaitan clones might be a bad idea, imagine a full army of cloned zaitans atacking, that would be crazy
Hey WP, you should make a video series about dungeon lore. I've run every Dungeons probably hundreds of times and I still have have no idea about the story/lore behind a single one. Surely I am not the only one x)
Anet should hire you!
17:50 I've had that same theory for a while, except for the druid lore bit had no idea about that, but my reasons as for why I thought she'd pop up again as a druid are:
A. it would be a nice misdirect to maybe have Garm dead, a bloody scene, her bow left there, and people under the presumption that Mordremoth took her body and started creating clones from it. just to have her pop up as a druid later on. Especially considering so many people seem to have subscribed to and been okay with the idea of Eir just dying and Braham taking her bow.
B. Out of Destiny's edge and Destiny's edge 2.0 , the repeat classes currently are ranger and guardian. With braham most likely turning into the Guardian elite spec, it makes sense they'd want at least one of their other repeats to become an elite spec too, and I personally don't really see Rox becoming a druid.
C. The cutscene for the finale of the LS season 2, she's standing strong, fighting off the sylvari who turned even while the ship is going down in flames, where as logan and zoija are just barely holding onto the side of the ship. So we at least know there's no way in hell she's not going down without a fight.
D. Eir is personally my favorite destiny's edge member, so I'm a little biased
Now my main worry to this theory not turning out true.
A. It would probably be fitting for a norn to stay behind killing and taking out as much as possible, at the same time saving their allies by letting them retreat to a safer place. Basically becoming a legend, never being forgotten, and all that business.
But I guess that just fits with your theory, about her dying and coming back as one anyway.
What if Trahearne and the Silvari were created by Mordremoth specifically to defeat Zhaitan in order to absorb his energy. O.O .>
+Aaron Carnahan Unlikely due the fact Mordremoth had no control over the planting of the pale tree - maybe he could've take advantage of how things developed with the sylvari, but thats unlikely too, because he was pretty much asleep during that time.
Might be worth mentioning that Gwen's father was unknown in Guild Wars 1. Adelbern having children out of wedlock does not seem that farfetched and would present a current story character to be able to end the Foefire's curse.
+woodenpotatoes Nice cut @ 50 seconds ^_^
Now watching the rest of the video.
What if Mordremoth's power will flow to the Pale Tree upon its death? Mordremoth's energy could be used to heal her, creating an Elder Dragon who is driven by Ventari's tablets rather than just hunger. She wouldn't go on the feeding binges of the other dragons, instead eating more moderately but staying awake because of that moderation because she never overeats herself into a stupor. =) Perhaps the cleansing of Orr was the Pale Tree creating her own fallback position, as she knew that Mordremoth would be waking soon and that when it did it would come looking for her. So perhaps in the future, Orr will become a Sylvari habitat; and since there's few things could claim to be as authentically Tyrian as a Sylvari, neither the humans nor the charr would have a political leg to stand on.
+Binidj No, it's going to be Traherne, and things never will end well ever again.
Cyhannic
If Trahearne doesn't get turned into compost in HoT I shall be MIGHTILY sad.
What if, like the gods, one dragon was traitorous and defeated, so a new dragon rose to power. The metallic dragon would be the dragon that was replaced by the new dragon (possibly the deep sea dragon). The metal dragon would be equivalent of Abaddon, who was associated with knowledge (metalworking, maybe). Reading from the wiki, Abaddon was linked with fighting the forgotten, which would totally make sense if they were using 'his' influence in their architecture without his permission.
Thoughts?
I think idea of Eir becoming a druid would work quite nicely, since I don't think they would be that keen on killing off Destiny's Edge members. My theory was that we would find Eir's bow first and assume the worst only to find her later (would be nice twist from ANet usual killing off characters when given opportunity), but I think Eir is a Druid would be similarly compelling.
Eir becoming a druid would remind me too much of Gandalf's transformation.
Caithe falls down from the pact ship, lose his weapons and go reckless and feral from mordremoth wispers. She builds a staff as a makeshift weapon and became a daredevil in the jungle. Edit: nevermind now i remembered, she wasnt on the ship.
I wonder if their will be any new plant pets for druid
THAT FACTIONS MUSIC THOUGH
I imagine devs watching this video and being like "Nooo! he ruined all our plot twists... he spoiled everything! Now we have to change it" :D
I just want the triumphant return of Livia and the Scepter of Orr.
I don't know if they include it in HoT personal story but i think Mordemorth corrupted Zhaitan corpse could be a raid boss.
I'm pretty sure Zhaitan's tail is in the lower part of the prophet going across the entire floor horizontally. So the tail would be accounted for, correct? (You can ask an NPC in some episode of Season two where first go in there and she clarifies that it is indeed Zhaitan's wonky-looking tail(.
well there's glints egg too it could take mordys powers too
Sohothin and Magdaer both given to King Dorric, an Orrian and presumably the magic would require that Orrian blood (cause magic and stuff). A real twist would be actually to have Rytlock channel Duke Barradin, who's spirit we fight in the Charr tutorial instance.
The Golden Orb, we only assume the blue orb has to do with Bubbles... But remember that the Forgotten magics were not corruptable by the dragons, and these could be very ancient Forgotten relics, built during a dragon awakening to protect their culture from the various forms of destruction. And maybe built by somebody/thing that came before the Forgotten, who knows?
Mordie and Z... First, wtb Zhatian mini. Second, Zhaitan was a patchwork dragon stitched together of a whole bunch of other dragons, right? Because if that was the case, perhaps Mordy won't be able to simply clone the full on Big Z, but instead will have to clone all of it's smaller component dragons. And then there is the issue of Glaust/Glint, who was able to lay eggs. There's nothing that I know of that says Elder Dragons don't lay eggs also, or that they need tens of thousands of years to grow, especially when there is a massive power source right there possibly next to them.
Absolutely couldn't be Rurik. Adelbern disowned him in Nolani Academy ("I will hear no more. I banish you from Ascalon! You are no longer my prince, and you are no longer my son!"). So it'd definitely have to be a sibling's descendant, or a descendant of Doric.
Realistically, the pact could just lay claim to Orr. They're the most mobile formalized military force in Tyria, and the only force not currently tied up in domestic/internal issues. It'd be interesting if Anet re-introduced the Pact as a state actor.
Maybe the Pale Tree will take Mordremoth's place after his defeat, balancing out the magic, but at the same time, putting it in the hands of putting it in the hands of something less destructive. But we still need to figure out, what will take Zhaitan's place?
+Dark Lord Kaamau Tequatel
so elder dragon corruption can be undone, as shown when the forgotten cleansed glint. so if Mordremoth takes over Orr, he takes Zhaitan's body, goes to the area where it can be cleansed, cleanses Zhaitan's body and then starts cloning it. then he would be able to start sending out Zhaitan mordrem clones, which would be extremely powerful, and then if Mordremoth dies, mordrem Zhaitan absorbs that power for himself and returns in a way. is that what you're saying the theory is?
What about the baby dragon from Glint's egg absorbing the Elder Dragon's power?
A hole in your theory: zhaitans tail didn't disappear. Zhaitans tail is in the vaults beneath the priory, as seen in hidden arcana. They've been studying it.
+Kyle Vanderwolf He mentioned that the tail is in the priory. What he said disappeared and was never seen or mentioned again was the rest of Zhaitan's body.
So I got a question about elder dragon magic. When one of them dies, their magic is released and is there to be absorbed similar to how abanddon worked in the first game. WP says that if mordremoth dies, what minion will be there to take its place and made a reference to the shadow of the Dragon. Now what I'm wondering is does the thing that absorbs the power need to be another dragon? What I think would be cool is that Mordremoth dies and a corrupted Trahearne takes its place, becoming the new "elder dragon."
I really hope the other specializations are explained much like Braham becoming a Dragonhunter and it seems Marjory becomes a Reaper. Do you think that Kasmeer will become a Chronomancer? I think it could tie well with her story having hidden talents and being a powerful Mesmer. Canach could also become the Berserker after turning hostile in his defense of the Sylvari like we saw in the trailer. I can't quite see how Caithe could become a Daredevil, though, or Zojja a Tempest (or a Scrapper). And as for Druid, I have been thinking it would be Rox, but I like your theory of it being Eir much better.
Playing through Season 2 at the moment. Kasmeer keeps mentioning "temporal" abilities and time related stuff. I think she'll become a chronomancer.
What if Eir's pet dies instead of her dying and becomes an druid for her to command? Maybe she doesn't have tox die to become an druid, plus imo it's too soon to kill such an character as in game players don't seem to interact much with her much leaving the impact of her death to be pushover or taken lightly.
+Seth Apple My point exactly! I just hope they tie it into the story well.
+Recon 86 I agree but I wouldn't want to Garm die either xD.
Hey WP, did you ever notice that in Vigil Strategic toom there is a map of Queensdale with Branded figures on it? Could that be something to happen in HoT? Can we expect some activity of other dragons, not only Modremoth's ?
Minor HoT spoilers:
So with new knowledge, the orb purifies the magic around it? We know now that the gold look in Forgotten and Exalted areas is actually just the purity of magic in the area making things appear shinier. Is it possible to conclude the Auric Orb is a forgotten artifact, or is the area literally gold? It would explain the pyrite bit if it weren't actually being changed to gold.
Wooden - Considering the similarities in the story between Glints egg and the blue orb, what do you think about the blue orb being a water dragon egg that's been feeding off Zhaitan's old magic this whole time?
Perhaps Traehaerne absorbed all of zhatain's power after claiming orr for his new master...
If the theory about a Zhaitan clone taking Mordremoth place is true, would he still use Mordremoths corruption, or would we have risen once again?
I am sooo hope ANet watch this and go like "Oh damn it! Why did you ruin the surprise!" xD
Couldn't the magic from the dead Mordremoth (if that is the story) - be channelled into the stolen Glint egg? what would that do?
If Wade Samuelsson is of Ascalonian Royal blood then isn't he the rightful heir and couldn't he put all the ghosts to rest?
I see Orr's future as a free unified land were all races live in peace but also tension between who truly has the right to control Orr but the new reform Pact calling dibs on having a nation.
WP, another great episode! Well thought out and researched. 10/10 would fuck
But WP, what if Adelbern's "foefire" was actually a failed spell, that WASN'T supposed to ghost everyone, and it failed BECAUSE he wasn't the right king?
3:27 DUDE, if he can do that what would stop him from doing it on the Sylvari!!! D:
He was the first guy shouting sylvari can't be trusted T_T
I don't wanna die D:
So with Zhaitan dead and his magic freed, could Grenth, Dhuum or someone else come around and reclaim that Death Magic? Also, would they be inclined to help fight future dragons? For example, Perhaps they'd want to help free magic for another of their peers, e.g. Grenth helps us free Nature Magic for Melandru, or maybe they'd have to fight the other dragons to mantain their claim to that magic.
I'm not sure if there's something I don't know about the God and their leaving that would invalid this, but I'd be interested even to hear why this is wrong.
Wouldn't, you know, The Pale Tree take over Mordremoth's domain? Zhaitan would be a little far fetched. He would be a young minion, recently resurrected.
+illan731 A young minion? Zhaitan would be the oldest minion imaginable. An ancient elder dragon, made servant to another elder dragon? How is that far-fetched because Zhaitan is 'young'? He isn't young, of course, but the real reason it would be far-fetched is because Zhaitan is an elder dragon himself... a dead one, but still. I think Zhaitan would be too powerful of a minion for Mordremoth to try and control, personally.
Recently converted, not attuned to Mordremoth's domain, and probably with spotty memory. It would be a teenager that doesn't know what to do with itself.
illan731 I don't think that's how dragon corruption works in the story. When an Elder Dragon gains a minion, it knows everything that minion knew in its life, and for a minion that was powerful, like Zhaitan, it can still remember what it was, just with an added devotion to the Elder Dragon that corrupted it.
Many examples of minions being corrupted exist in the story, and none of them are 'confused'. They are either mindless, or if they were powerful in life, they remain intelligent. Zhaitan would probably be just as dangerous as before, if not more thanks to Mordremoth.
You're, right, I guess, though I'm tempted to call "unrealistic." Still there's the issue of Elder Dragons not being able to corrupt each other's minions... but they would be able to corrupt other Elder Dragons??
+illan731 I don't think it's ever really been confirmed that the Sylvari can't be corrupted by other Elder Dragons due to being minions of Mordremoth, though it has certainly been implied. Therefore, the idea that Elder Dragons cannot corrupt each others' minions could be wrong.
I love this, more ffs
consORRtium should get Orr and make another "Vacation Island" ;-D
good episode
I feel you should name this lore series Wild Eye Lore :D after wild eye miller :)
more lore vids, awesome :D
I still think mordy will just die in the end of HoT then with a 2nd Elder Dragon dead and the Pact still trying to recover from their losses two or all of the remaining Elder Dragons finally decide to get off their lazy *** and start a war with each other to claim all of Western Tyria while during this time each Race Nation begin experiencing personal issues within their nation from Caudecus finally make a move for the throne that just may actually allow him to take the Krytian throne, Legions now dealing with the final battle against King Adelbern, the Asuran Council has began to become more isolated and promoting false information to the public of Rata Sum even farther by slandering the Pact causing political issues, The Sons of Svanir have become even more violent and active due to Jormag beginning his battle against the other Elder Dragon thus causing a massive kidnapping of Norn children and females, and the Sylvari race now face severe relationship issues, both personal and political, due to the revealing of them being Elder Dragon minions despite Mordremoth's death.
Thus leaving the Commander (Player character) in a place where all hope is lost because now he or she has no allies, no resources, and no political connections. With only the small hand full of allies left the Commander must now turn to finding some way to save Tyria with the Pact and Race Nations thus leading him or her to finding the "truth" about the Elder Dragons.
(PS I know tin foil hat idea but heck I'm bored right now until HoT officially begins.)
+orrthehunter Mordy sounds so cute :D
MatthewsMoonlight it is the nickname I gave him.
+orrthehunter I dig it.
+WoodenPotatoes I agree -It would be nice if Rytlock would unleash another foefire xD perhaps even defending Black Citadel because he will be in the shoes of the humans the charr once hated.
(Also why is there no rain in Gw2? I'm sure they can find a less resource intensive way to implement it).
Also (maybe that's just me) but wouldn't it be awesome if the new necromancer elite spec would have had Zhaitan influences? (since each profession uses a certain school of magic and .. well Zhaitan just released a bunch of necromantic magic in the world)?
i have a question in my mind right now and cant find an answer to ... why should elder dragons give their powers away to another minion or get replaced by another one, for example - what WP said, glint was in a position where she could become a new elder dragon and absorb the power of her master, so far so good but why? sure when a elder dragon dies ..but kralkatorrik is or was not in a position to die soon so why should he be replaced by glint?
Hey WP, do you think that since Mordramoth is the jungle dragon he can '' photosynthesise '' and create his own food?. Maybe with this new infinite sauce of magic the gap Zhaithan left when he died could be filed some how?
noob question: the infusion slots on ascended rings, amulets, and accessories only give +5 of a given stat, which seems very low. It is worth the trouble, or am I better off with something like 15% karma gain or one of those boosters?
On the "Zhaitan Revived" theory:
I'd actually imagine the raid boss they've shown being related to him. The raid will take place around the area of the Bloodstone, close to where Mordremoth is and will (possibly) die. It might be very plausible for the Bloodstone to actually absorb Mordremoth's energy, similar to a battery, with Zhaitan's reincarnation (the rad boss) leeching on it and trying to regain its power, leading us there to stop that before it escalates.
On the topic of Eir turning into a Druid:
I don't really think they'll actually do that. The new group of heroes has Rox as a hunter and it'd feel almost unfair if she were to be shafted and not get an elite spec at all. Braham going Dragon Hunter would fit, Marjory already has a greatsword, so she's certain to become a Reaper, Kasmeer is the only Mesmer in both groups, so her specialising in Chronomancy is only logical, Zojja going into a more supportive role as a Tempest or possibly even teaching Taimi how to be an elementalist and, in particular, Tempest to help and support her friends without putting too much strain on her body (since Tempests are usually floating, being carried by the elements they channel) also sounds reasonable. In terms of Daredevil, we have the problem of not having a Thief. Berserker would seem most fitting for Canach, since he always was a rather wild one and has much more reason to go berserk than Logan does, RIGHT NOW. That could obviously change quickly if, for example, someone close to Logan would lose their life. Maybe one of his companions? *hint hint*
Of course, that could still leave room open to bring Eir back as a Druid later on, but I can't really see her becoming one during HoT, since Rox would just feel even more useless than she already does.
+Zakading Going to have to disagree with you on the Eir turning druid theory. It makes a lot more sense in my mind for Eir to turn druid than Rox, from a purely character trait standpoint I feel Rox is too charr/practical minded to go full nature magic. Eir on the other hand is very norn and very in touch with nature, being stranded with no equipment in the maguuma it makes a lot of sense for her to call upon nature magic heavily to survive.
This also ties into the idea that when an iconic character upgrades to an elite spec there is a significant story reason for it to happen, we saw this with Majory getting her greatsword and the idea of Braham becoming Dragonhunter also really ties into this. I just can't imagine what sort of scenario would make Rox go druid and not have it seem somewhat forced.
Finally there's the fact that elite specializations are going to be an ongoing thing, there's no reason every iconic character has to pick up an elite spec the first time around.
+Zakading Logan is a guardian not a warrior so if anything he would go dragon hunter, Taimi is an engineer so scrapper, and we have a thief, Caithe.
Now I want Zhaidremoth to be a thing...
So idk if anyone has touched on this, but if the water orb or whatever it is protects against zhaitans minions, wouldnt it prevent sylvari from getting near it too? I mean they are a creation of mordremoth after all. If anyone has an answer that i may be clearly missing, let me know
