  • Hunting for a job in quantum computing can be confusing, just ask Nick and Olivia!
    Join them as they search across LinkedIn and explain how to tell a good vs bad posting, break down the skills employers are looking for, give an overview of roles and the degrees required (or not), and share stories of their own experiences.

    Not all the heroes put on cape, some just analyze QC job postings to help others to prepare for them.

    I have a MSc in theoretical quantum physics and I work at a German car manufacturer (as a regular engineer, though). Three years ago I found out we have someone in IT who concerns himself with quantum computing as his main job. It's no actual quantum job, more like "what does quantum computing mean for our company, what are the risks and opportunities?", so being familiar with the gist of things, talking to researchers and making powerpoint presentations about it.
    Still, pretty cool job. I think most larger tech companies have people like that.

    I have a master's in physics and I work as an engineer but I haven't taken formal quantum information courses at the university level. Am I qualified? Almost every job ad states that a PhD is a minimum requirement. Do I need to quit work and get a PhD?

    hi i am CS student and have mathematic and physics knowledge
    i really find this field interesting , i start the self-study it
    Only i am thinking about opportunities in this field, is it hard to get an internship ?

    I don't care what companies are looking for. I create my own company.
    So, the more interesting video would be: How to compete, persist and succeed?

    Ibm culture seem quite stuck up.... is it true? First bash Xanadu job post for optics system ML eng, make lots of criticism on everything, then brag you got all the jobs that were good fit on first try. I hoped video would detail more about IBM job posts, with special information since it is your company, but actually it was just a post to try to make fun of other companies. Not very helpful

    • @livlanes
      @livlanes Před rokem +3

      Not true. If IBM culture was stuck up we certainly wouldnt take the time to make these videos. Even though we may have a few laughs while making them, they are meant to be educational and helpful for our quantum community. We appreciate both our competitors and friends in the field, and just because we may find a job post confusing/incomplete does not mean we are making fun.
