Velma Hamilton Middle School Teacher Hits All the Right Notes

Velma Hamilton Middle School music teacher Margaret Jenks has performed at Carnegie Hall, conducts for the Madison Youths Symphony and coaches music teachers across the country. However, her main goal is to expose middle school students to the impact of the arts and help them find their unique voice.
Recently, students in grades 6 through 8 had the opportunity to learn and perform alongside Brooklyn-based singer Kiena Williams. Ms. Jenks secured this opportunity by entering a nationwide consortium, and out of all the participating schools, Hamilton was the only school to win a residency with Williams.
