  • If you are wanting to learn flamenco dance, here’s an introduction to the basics from my flamenco class.
    1. RHYTHM
Explore flamenco rhythms! There are different flamenco styles and rhythm is one element of recognising it. Get to know a style called TANGOS.
You start learning flamenco by clapping out rhythms and accents, simply with your palms.
    2. FLAMENCO ARMS AND HANDS
The way we use our arms is a flamenco feature, distinctive from other dances. I bet you probably already have an image of flamenco, just from the way dancers move their arms, hands and fingers.
And so you’ll be learning how to move your arms, to give it a Spanish flamenco ‘look’.
Know how to work the style!
    3. FOOTWORK
Footwork is also a typical characteristic of flamenco. So you’ll get a taste of learning very basic flamenco footwork, stamping to rhythm.
    A SIMPLE FLAMENCO DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY
And we start to bring the elements together, to create a little dance sequence or choreography.
There will be quite a bit of coordination, and for those of you who like a bit of challenge, flamenco could be a suitable genre for your personality.
Here’s where you’ll also get to know a flamenco song and enjoy captivating music.
At the same time, you’ll be gaining listening skills.
    Plus explore self-expression and individuality.
Because that’s what makes flamenco unique.
    That’s what makes YOU unique!
